to be fair I think it's about time we discussed how to handle rankdown "redo"s, what it should take for them to happen, and how to make sure that we have an organized way of doing them so people just don't open them willy nilly if we do want them to happen someday
like for me personally I think that 3 years is a good amount of time to open a new version of an existing rankdown, as by that time there will have been many new people who never got the chance just because of when they joined who might want to submit for it, and even a significant amount of people who submitted for the first version might have changed their opinions on the songs in a list so much that their list would change a lot as a result

I believe that's why a 2015 redo is on the table but a 2016 redo is not (at least not yet).
2012 was of course, a special case.

There needs to be solid justification for a redo, such as a fairly lengthy time that has passed, some sort of demand for it to be redone (such as with 2015 where there would undoubtedly be more participants now), a couple new album eras worth of singles that have rendered the old Rankdown obsolete (in the case of an artist Rankdown), or some combination of those factors. I would also personally argue that only experienced hosts be allowed to start redos. Like if there are consistent Rankdown hosts for a specific genre, they need to be the ones to do any redos for that genre, unless they personally pass it on to somebody else. Like, we can’t have some random nobody join Pulse and start creating a bunch of Hot 100 redos out of the blue. Those redos need to come from Sam, or Az, or somebody with legit Rankdown cred...

I haven’t seen anyone suggest it yet, but after the 2019 Hot 100 YE rankdown finishes, I was thinking of hosting a RD with the top 10 for each year from 2010-2019, since every other year has had its RD. I’d really like to host this, but I understand if someone like Sambalada (who hosted the first YE rankdown and first rankdown in general) wants to do it instead. I just realized this. But haven't some songs from 2 year ends been top 10 in both Rankdowns? Rolling In The Deep, Starboy. So it probably won't be 100 songs.

I came across this while compiling all of the top 10s into a list, and I need people’s thoughts on this, since it didn’t happen with the 80s RD. Should I: 1) Exclude repeats and do the rankdown with less than 100 songs. 2) Include songs outside of the top 10s with the highest average ranks to create a “top 100 of the 2010s”, as that’s the title and concept of the 80s thread.

How are we factoring in the (at this point still hypothetical) 2015 redux? If the redux has a different top 10 to the original game do we include both top 10's?

Since it's going to be a far more accurate representation of Pulse's current taste, I was planning on using the redux's results, but since there are going to be less than 100 songs if I only use songs that actually made the top 10, I won't object to filling out some spaces with any original top 10s that don't make the redux's top 10.

Is there an easier way to number your list than having to do it all by hand keying it yourself. 125 items takes forever! Lol

After yesterday's events, does anyone want to step up to finish/redo the "The Pains Of Growing" RD? If no one else wants to, I can host it after I finish the Prism RD.

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump
Surely someone hasn't reserved any Daft Punk related rankdowns yet, right? I'm saying this because I want to claim an album rankdown series for them.

I'd like to host a 2016 non-US hits rankdown if that's alright with everyone else!

Is anyone doing a "caught between years" rankdown or is that idea still open?

ok, I'm looking to continue my Rock Streaming Hits RD Series - focusing on the 1997-2009 era (aka my growing up years).
Part 3 would be songs from 2003-2009 that didn't have enough streams to make the cut for Part 2, or songs from artists that already had a song in Part 2 (I'm sticking to one song per artist for each RD of the series).
Preliminary list
Spotify Streams 541.3m - Fix You - Coldplay 393.6m - Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers 343.3m - Use Somebody - Kings of Leon 327.2m - This Love - Maroon 5 304.6m - American Idiot - Green Day 277.6m - Somebody Told Me - The Killers 270.9m - What I've Done - Linkin Park 247.9m - Best of You - Foo Fighters 244.7m - The Man Who Can't Be Moved - The Script 243.1m - Teenagers - My Chemical Romance
236.2m - Thnks fr th Mmrs - Fall Out Boy 224.6m - You've Got The Love - Florence + The Machine 218.2m - You Found Me - The Fray 212.7m - Duality - Slipknot 211.0m - You And Me - Lifehouse 210.9m - B.Y.O.B. - System of a Down 210.4m - Gives You Hell - The All-American Rejects 208.5m - Are You Gonna Be My Girl - Jet 208.3m - Monster - Skillet 198.3m - Like A Stone - Audioslave
197.8m - My Immortal - Evanescence 194.3m - The Kill - Thirty Seconds to Mars 192.7m - Animal I Have Become - Three Days Grace 192.5m - Slow Dancing In A Burning Room - John Mayer 190.1m - A-Punk - Vampire Weekend 189.3m - Reptilia - The Strokes 183.1m - Float On - Modest Mouse 182.1m - Rockstar - Nickelback 171.4m - Time To Pretend - MGMT 168.3m - All Summer Long - Kid Rock
166.4m - Through Glass - Stone Sour 159.8m - I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor - Arctic Monkeys 159.1m - Stacy's Mom - Fountains of Wayne 157.9m - Supermassive Black Hole - Muse 157.7m - Broken Strings - James Morrison 156.9m - Everybody's Changing - Keane 154.9m - Behind Blue Eyes - Limp Bizkit 154.8m - She Moves In Her Own Way - The Kooks 153.8m - Something Good Can Work - Two Door Cinema Club 153.2m - 1901 - Phoenix
Songs that I'm leaning towards not including because they're not rock enough (if I included them, they'd be bumping out songs from the 40 listed above) 306.1m - Free Fallin' (cover) - John Mayer 275.4m - Electric Feel - MGMT 245.1m - Collide - Howie Day 235.6m - Banana Pancakes - Jack Johnson 173.3m - Young Folks - Peter Bjorn and John 154.2m - I Will Follow You Into The Dark - Death Cab For Cutie

This might be too early but I was thinking of hosting the 2010's decade-end list rankdown or re-doing the 2003 year-end rankdown.

I think I'll include it and move She Moves In Her Own Way to RD #4 of the series. Free Fallin and Electric Feel would just be taking the place of other songs from those artists that are already on the list since I'm keeping it to 1 per artist per RD. Here's all the songs from 1997-2009 I could find with over 100m streams and which RD I'm considering putting them in. If anyone finds any 100m+ songs I've missed, let me know. The highest chances of me missing a song are probably on the indie side that's less likely to chart (not just on the Hot 100 but also rock charts) or overseas rock bands that are also less likely to chart in the US. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19sGDrckkbGHu_3FczyDIJgNiakPnSULwMpY2rrt7rdQ/edit?usp=sharing

Do people here know or like LL Cool J well enough? Would he be a good artist Rankdown to host?

I will not be hosting the Year End Rankdown. Anyone want to come forward and take over?
I immediately think of Az but I think he'll do WTM this year.

Considering I've had yet to muster the willpower to return to/finish Springtime Madness I don't think WTM3 will be happening this year. But I would gladly take 2019 YE if it means hosting a rankdown where I am guaranteed to actually get participants. :sip2:
