Remember Jeremih's Birthday Sex in 2009? Yeah I know, that was hot garbage too, but his last single that was a hit in the U.S. was actually pretty decent. Attachment Deleted45. Oui by JeremihYE position: #55 It's so catchy and bouncy and just happy that I can't really hate this song. But then again, it does end up being forgettable because I can't tell what Jeremih is saying. Again, it's decent for the production and more happy tone of the song, but Jeremih is not that good a singer, and the lyrics are something that I don't even know. 68/500

Here's a random one-hit wonder artist of 2016. Attachment Deleted44. Don't Mind by Kent JonesYE position: #48 I'll be honest I used to really like this song, because I thought the chorus in many different languages was actually catchy and funny at the same time. But this beat, it just doesn't sound all that right to me anymore, it's like disco meets DJ Mustard. That and this song was basically just Talk Dirty 2.0, except way worse and not as catchy. At least Jason had some personality, this guy has none though. Still, the beat and chorus is catchy enough to be decent, but that's about all to it. 71/500

Just caught on to this too, and I already like it! Rooting for Never Be Like You and I took a pill in Ibiza (Though I think I remember you mentioning what your number one was...)

4-GoodAttachment Deleted43. Never Be Like You by Flume ft. KaiYE position: #60 I think the only reason I like this is because of the psedo-trap percussion, and the catchy as hell chorus. That and it actually sounds like an instrumental cover of My Love by Justin Timberlake. No joke, this sounds like something he could have released in the mid-2000s and it still would have been amazing. 75/500

This is one of my favorite artists and she never really fails to disappoint me even with this song. But tbh, this does feel weak for a lead single. Attachment Deleted42. On My Mind by Ellie GouldingYE position: #81 No joke, every song Ellie has released since 2011/2012 has been either decent or just flat out amazing. I still stand that Lights and Love Me Like You Do are her best songs ever, and they both deserve more recognition. But with the lead off for her third album, it is pretty weak. Especially when you have Codes, Something In The Way You Move, The Greatest, and Around U, this feels like a weak choice. Especially when you learn the lyrics are a diss to Ed's Don't, also an artist I like and one of his best songs ever. But still, the production of this song saves it from being lower than good, that and I am a big Ellie fan. Sad to see that since this song, she hasn't had a hit the same size as LMLYD or Lights. 79/500

Beyonce's only major hit off of Lemonade Attachment Deleted41. Sorry by BeyonceYE position: #71 I feel as though America did Beyonce dirty by allowing this to be her one and only major hit off of Lemonade. Actually I blame her marketing team, for not putting this album on Spotify and Apple Exclusive, something that really killed any chance of her getting any more hits. And yet, I don't hate this song, it's dark and a great FU song. It's good, and I love it, with good dark production and good vocals from Beyonce. I ain't sorry for this just missing the top 40 though. 83/500

Alessia Cara' first ever real hit. Attachment Deleted40. Here by Alessia CaraYE position: #39 Fun fact, this song is one spot lower than it's actual position on the 2016 YE. But of all the anti-party anthems, I'd take this more than most others. It's dark, Alessia is a good vocalist, (Unless your a certain someone I know who hates her for no real reason whatsoever) and the rhythm is just great for me. It releases an inner pessimist and small (like almost non-existent) emo side of me, and I can respect that. So yeah, good song, glad it was a hit. 87/500

Flo Rida Attachment Deleted39. My House by Flo RidaYE position: #14 At this point I feel like I don't have much credibility to stand by saying I like a Flo Rida song. I'll be honest this is a guilty pleasure for me, but I also don't see what's so wrong with this song. It's fun and catchy, it's like Low back in 2008, except no T-Pain, and less memorable lyrics. Okay, I actually don't know why I like this guy again, I think it just has to do with his catchy as Hell hooks. 91/500 Can someone please remind me, what songs am I missing, I stopped counting long ago.

My House is just a nice song all around. I do prefer I Don't Like It, I Love It though.
And I wouldn't know lol. I just know that ITAPII, Closer, DLMD, Roses, SMLTYNL and Hello aren't out.

Agree with you on a lot of these, especially all of Trainor's Song.
I'm curious on how you're going to defend 7 Years.

So, this was Zayn's first ever single? And it was a #1 hit. Attachment Deleted38. Pillowtalk by Zayn MalikYE position: #22 Yeah, I don't necessarily hate this song. I think it's sort of catchy, and the chorus isn't that bad. I think my main issue that weighed it down for me was simply two things; Zayn's voice and the slow, plotting percussion. It'd be much better if the production wasn't so slow paced and was given to a better singer. But still, some of the lines are both sexy, and yet catchy when fit with this type of song. Not bad like some say, but not really top 10 worthy either. 95/500

Hey, remember Shawn's biggest hit? You know, the one that launched him from Vine start to serious pop star? No not that song, that was a flop, I'm talking about this: Attachment Deleted37. Stitches by Shawn MendesYE position: #23 Yeah, this is still far more superior to both Mercy and Treat You Better, hands down. Say what you will about Shawn being whiny in this song, but I'd much prefer him be whiny in this song, than what he was trying to do in Treat You Better and Mercy. At least this song has good production and Shawn isn't being an asshole. And even though this isn't his best, it at last has a nice guitar lick, decent production and I don't really mind Shawn's voice that much. Nothing more to add here, next! 99/500

You may have noticed by now that 3 Drake songs are missing, well 4 if you include Rihanna's Work, but you get the point. While I have gone off on Drake several times now, I will admit there have been a few songs from him that I've been able to enjoy, for example. Attachment Deleted36. Jumpman by Drake & FutureYE position: #37 I'll be honest, the only reason I like this song is because of the Apple commercial with Taylor Swift. I'm not kidding, but seriously I do think this is one of the best songs off of What A Time To Be Alive, mostly because of the beat though. Even Drake sounds energetic in this, much more than he was in Views and More Life, but still. That and Future is.. well Future. I'd easily call this a guilty pleasure song, and one that I will enjoy. 103/500

Ooh, I feel after what I said about this artist before, people will have their heads scratching at this next one. Attachment Deleted35. Middle by DJ Snake ft. Bipolar SunshineYE position: #80 Remember what I said about DJ Snake and how after Lean On, his music saw a decline in quality? Well you see, I like to think of this as the first warning signal. I don't hate it as much as others do, but this does have it's problems. For one the chorus breakdown is both catchy and annoying at the same time. I'm not kidding, I am conflicted about this song's chorus. But then again, the production in the verses do give it a more positive edge, so I can give it that, and I don't necessarily mind the vocals, well in verses, but that chorus... Yeah, one of the most conflicting moments for me, and it's not even in the meh tier. Just goes to show how 2016 really was, right? 107/500

All good picks, the only one I kind of disagree with is Jumpman. It's pretty bland to me, and I really don't like futures part.

You used to call me on my cell phone. Attachment Deleted 34. Hotline Bling by DrakeYE position: #24 And we are not done with the Drake show just yet. The main reason this is actually this high up is mostly because of the memes from the video. And while it basically is boring elevator music, it's not as bad as LITERAL elevator music from the early 2000s. (I'll get to that when get to that) But still, it's catchy and fun to listen to, and it's one of Drake's better songs. Even though this did lead the the running gag about his career being boring as Hell, especially seen in most of Views and More Life. But still, I'll take this over most of those records any day. 111/500

You know, if this song wasn't a duet, this could have been much, MUCH worse. 33. Close by Nick Jonas & Tove Lo YE position: #66
I feel like this song is just a good song because it's a duet and nothing more. Well okay, that's not true, I love the chorus and the harmonies between Nick and Tove are great. But then again, it does rely a little too much on the trap hi-hats in the chorus, but the production in the verses are good, vocals are decent, and all in all, a good song.

I never thought I'd say this until probably 2014's, but I have to. I like a DJ Mustard track on here. 32. Needed Me by Rihanna
YE position: #13
No, I'm not kidding. You can easily tell it's produced just by paying close attention in the intro, and you can here his watermark. But still, I do like this song, mostly because I do like most of Rihanna's work, and I don't really mind most of the songs off of Anti. The verses are good, the build-up to the chorus is good, Hell I actually like the harsh synth tone on the chorus. It's dark but catchy in a good way though. Still I think that Kiss It Better deserved much better and should have been a hit. Still, this is a good song though.

2015 leftover.
31. 679 by Fetty Wap ft. Remy Boyz
YE position:#54
The only thing that keeps this from great tier status is two things. First, Fetty Wap's voice is still the worst, and two, this is a 2015 leftover. I know that might seem hypocritical as there are a few 2015 leftovers still lingering, but whatever. The production is fantastic, the chorus is infectious and Hell, even the lyrics don't bother me all that much, it's better than what most rappers are saying. But still it's held down because of the main artist's voice and the fact it's originally from 2015, so what are you gonna do?

5-Great
30. Same Old Love by Selena Gomez
YE position: #40
Finally we get into the great tier. And yeah, I don't hate this song at all, I actually love pretty much everything about this song. The piano is awesome, the chorus is catchy af, and I don't really mind Selena's voice that much. There's not really much for me to hate, I love pretty much a lot about this song.

I do suicides with my squad on a private jet. Oh, wrong song and year. Anyway, here's Heathens.
YE position: #21
29. Heathens by Twenty One Pilots
I normally don't like dark songs, especially rap, but I swear I feel like I like more and more dark music that crosses over from rock and R&B. I mean, this was on the Suicide Squad soundtrack and I love it, and I don't know why. Actually I have a pretty good reason why, the production is amazingly dark but catchy, the synths in the bridge are great, and the lyrics about how so many TOP fans don't trust the new fans just because their songs are now considered mainstream. I can see why though, especially since most emo bands have some of the most insane fandoms ever, including TOP and My Chemical Romance. But still, I can love this song for what it is, even if it is from probably the most mediocre movie of 2016.

I forgot, Mini Mariah had not one, but two hits this year that I really love.
28. Dangerous Woman by Ariana Grande
YE position: #36
Wow, an actual top 10 pop song has some sort of short guitar solo! Call me hooked, line and sinker, because that guitar line is amazing, and the bets part of the song. And Ariana shows of her Mariah-esque voice, especially near the end, where she just starts belting off in a most amazing fashion. The lyrics are about how she's "a dangerous woman" even though I don't buy it at all. But oh my God this production is so good I don't even care about it. Definitely worthy of being a great song.

2016 will always be remember as either the year of the Chainsmokers, the year of Drake, or the year of Twenty One Pilots.
27. Ride by Twenty One Pilots
YE Position: #20
I've seen a lot of people put this on their worst list, or damn near close to it, but honestly I think I love the more tropical vibe in this song. Yeah, Tyler Joseph might not be the best vocalist, but the production is just too great for me to ignore. The final chorus is just an amazing blast of synths that I just love it. This is probably the best screemo song I've ever heard, and I hate screemo music.

T-Swift.
26. Wildest Dreams by Taylor Swift
YE position: #79
While not the best song off of 1989, it's still on of her more toned down and mature songs, and I can respect that. Still, I think Blank Space and Shake It Off are better though. Still great dream-pop song.
