Sorry I've been absent, but I'll be following along! I'm gonna puke if "I Love You" is #1. I'm already prepared to puke if it's any higher than #10 in this rankdown. Dreadful.

1) What will be #1?
"Love's The Only House" with an outside chance that "Make Me Believe" takes it
2) What will be #13?
"For The Love Of A Woman" or "Anything and Everything"
3) Which songs belong in the top 5?
"Love's The Only House", "Make Me Believe", "From The Ashes", "This Uncivil War", and "Goodbye" (Though "There You Are" or "I Love You" I could see making it)
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing?
Most: "I Love You" Least: "Love's The Only House"
5) Which of the singles will place highest? Where will it place? (I Love You, Love's The Only House, There You Are, It's My Time)
Highest is gonna easily be "Love's The Only House"
6) Which of the singles will place lowest? Where will it place?
Lowest is a little harder. I know some people want "I Love You" to be lowest but I do think "It's My Time" could be the lowest single. I would prefer to see "There You Are" be the lowest.
7) What will be the highest-placing album track? Where will it place?
Highest placing album track will probably be "Make Me Believe" and possibly be in the Top 3, with an outside chance at #1. Though I do think "This Uncivil War" and "From The Ashes" could contend also (At least "From The Ashes" SHOULD be the highest but you all have trash taste when it comes to ballads so...)
8) Any other thoughts/predictions?
I'm probably going to get annoyed as I have with the last few albums we have done of hers. This is probably my 2nd favorite album because there is not a bad song on this album.

For the love of a woman, A man will sacrifice While he waits for a moment of grace. With the love of a woman, A man will pay the price For the trust that he sees in her face.

Emotion is the first album from Martina that I bought the day it released. I did not get the edition with this song so there is no nostalgia with it and while it is a great song, I love this entire album, therefore this song had to be in last place.
So nervous about the rest of these results!

Coming in last place, we lose the bonus track... I also become the first participant to take a hit to their top 3 I guess it's possible I overranked it a tad, but this song is SO beautiful. This is one of Martina's most enchanting vocal performances from start to finish. It also helps that I literally didn't even know this song existed until like my first year of college, so this one became a surprise perfect addition to an album that was already so perfect. I can definitely see where people might disagree with the lyrics, because it is one of those love songs that is written entirely from a heterosexual perspective. I could see people having a similar problem with it that they do with Josh Turner's "I Wouldn't Be A Man". They're songs that I can relate to, but can definitely understand why some men wouldn't. Outside of the lyrics tho, the melody and production are absolutely perfect.

Rounding out the bottom 2, Sambalada unfortunately has to say goodbye to his #1 already... However, 6 people also say goodbye to their last place "Anything And Everything" has always been my least favorite on this album, but that doesn't mean I don't love it! This album is just one of her most consistent albums from front to back, and even my least favorite on this album would still be well ahead of my least favorite from most other albums. The chorus is really catchy, but something about the more subdued approach to this song didn't work for me, from all angles. The soft and breathy vocal performance doesn't quite hit the mark every time for me, and the acoustic production really doesn't do much in the way of building suspense or arriving at any sort of climax. It's a very pleasant listen, but ballads like "From The Ashes" and "This Uncivil War" are way more exciting to listen to, imo.

And the #1 losses keep rolling in! This time it is tim who has to say goodbye... "Good Bye" is a song that seems to be buzzed about a lot from this album, but that buzz did not translate to success in this rankdown. Personally, while I love this song now, it has taken longer to grow on me than maybe any other song throughout Martina's career. I always thought the chorus melody was a weird, and the jumps to head voice were unnecessary and distracting. I am starting to appreciate the lyrics a little more with age, especially since I can connect to the sentiments of loss more closely now, and the production truly is beautiful. Still, this is such an amazing album, filled with songs that I have loved for almost my entire life, and this song taking so long to grow on me made it an easy contender to go towards the bottom of the album for me.

Also, I must take this opportunity to express how much it bothers me that the song is called "Good Bye". Like, that is literally NOT how you spell "Goodbye".
It's basically as bad as Terri Clark's "Everytime I Cry"... Although that song title has the opposite problem.

I'm gonna keep going! I've been working on the Deana Carter rankdown while doing this, and I still have a little bit more to go until I'm done with it So, let's continue with this! You might have been hoping for something a little different, but kicking off the top 10, the #1 losses STILL keep coming...

Not at all surprised to see “”For the Love of a Woman” and “Anything and Everything” out in the bottom 2 as I think that’s what most of us were predicting. “Good Bye” really deserved better and the lyrics hit really close to home for myself. I had never really listened to Martina’s albums in full so this song was a discovery for me. I’m not sure I would’ve appreciated this song as much back in 1997 as I do now and I think there’s a lot to be said about hearing songs as an adult versus at a younger age...sometimes they pack more of a punch with all that life throws your way.

I really like "Anything And Everything", but I'm not surprised to see it out early. I hadn't listened to this album in awhile, so it was nice to have a push to listen to these songs again. Emotion has never been one of my go to Martina albums (probably because I found it a let down after how much I loved Evolution), but I liked it more than I remembered.

Hey, don’t give ‘em what they think they want, ‘Cause they don’t have a clue. Yeah, if you really wanna give ‘em somethin’ different, Somethin’ to sink their teeth into, Well, baby, then you just do what you do.

I always thought that this would have made a decent single, but I get why they didn't. Somehow Alice's story felt a little forced within the lyrics of this song.

So far so good. Haven't lost anything too interesting. Most of these songs are a little snoozy and just "there."

This time it is Troublemaker who tragically loses their #1. "Do What You Do" is a song that was a huge shock to me when I first put this album on my cd player as a little kid. It is a super unique song for Martina to be singing, and in a sense almost sounds odd in her catalog. I literally wondered if the wrong cd had been placed in the album case by the manufacturer that first time listening, because it just did not sound like the Martina I was used to at all! It grew on me incredibly quickly, however. This is now a certifiable JAM to me. This still feels like a reasonable place for it to leave considering how strong the album is, but we have reached the point where the losses truly start being painful.

Random fact time: "Do What You Do" is the song in Martina's catalog that has the lowest high note! Lmao if that makes any sense... Lol but with the highest note as a G4, this song is in a range that most famous male artists could sing in the same key. Even somebody like George Strait, who isn't particularly known for his range, has sang G4s several times throughout his career.

I love "Do What You Do" but agree that it is an odd song in her Discography and I think it is good to go out here. Glad to see there is some love for this song

Ok so I'm bummed that "Anything and Everything" is out already because I thought it was a cute like lite pop song. It reminds me of Sixpence None the Richer or something along those lines. Something Delilah would play (and I love Delilah so that's not meant to be shady). In retrospect, I should have put it above "Do What You Do" - for that one, for me, the chorus is good but the verses are a little clunky.

"I Ain't Goin' Nowhere" is a damn catchy song! I have loved this one from the moment I heard it. I think it would have been an awesome choice for a single. It's one of those songs that is perfect for her, while also being different from the style that everybody has come to expect from her, so I think it could have done more for her career in the long run than songs like "There You Are" or "It's My Time" did. It only finished at #9 in this rankdown, but on an album this strong it would have been harder to do too much more than that. It's the first song in 3 reveals that did not get any #1 votes, but it does wipe out four top 5 placements for kansasmeetsmo, George Strait Junkie, .indulgecountry, and Cody Wants Out....
