Wow I forgot all about this due to the lack of reminders/your general disappearance from hosting Martina rankdowns, but I'll try to squeeze this one in probably last minute, lol.

I'm probably just gonna sit this one out, although I did give the album a spin roughly a week ago. Can I be tagged in reveals please?

1) What will be #1? "If You Don't Know Me By Now"
2) What will be #16? "My Babe"
3) Which songs will be in the top 5? "Perfect", "If You Don't Know Me By Now", "Suspicious Minds", "Bring It On Home To Me"
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing? "In The Basement" for most. "My Babe" for least.
5) If this album had had singles released to radio, which songs would you have released? Will they do well in this rankdown? "Bring It On Home To Me", "Perfect", "Suspicious Minds", "In The Basement" in that order.
6) Any other thoughts/predictions? This is definitely not an album for everybody, and I do appreciate it, but I feel like a few changes to the tracklist could've made it much better. Don't know what to add necessarily but I feel it needed a tad more oomph.

1) What will be #1?
"If You Don't Know Me By Now"
2) What will be #16?
"My Babe"
3) Which songs will be in the top 5?
"If You Don't Know Me By Now", "Perfect", "In The Basement", "Bring It On Home To Me", "Little Bit of Rain", "Suspicious Minds"
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing?
Most: "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted", "Perfect" Least: "If You Don't Know Me By Now", "In The Basement", "My Babe"
5) If this album had had singles released to radio, which songs would you have released? Will they do well in this rankdown?
"If You Don't Know Me By Now", "Suspicious Minds", "In The Basement", "Perfect", and "Bring It On Home To Me". They should be the Top 5 or right outside of it I think
6) Any other thoughts/predictions?
The Itunes Bonus tracks are gonna do better than the Target ones, I think we will see the two Target bonus tracks gone within the first few eliminations. I could see "By Your Side" missing the Top 10 as well, but I think "Perfect" will last a while. The two duets will do well.

1) What will be #1? Going with the consensus on “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”
2) What will be #16? “My Babe” or “Baby What You Want Me to Do”
3) Which songs will be in the top 5? “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”, “Suspicious Minds”, “Bring It on Home to Me”, “Come See About Me”, and hopefully “By Your Side” sneaks in
4) What song will be most polarizing? “In the Basement” Least polarizing? “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”
5) If this album had had singles released to radio, which songs would you have released? Will they do well in this rankdown? “Come See About Me” and maybe “In the Basement” since it features Kelly Clarkson...I think both stand a decent change of being in the top 5
6) Any other thoughts/predictions? I agree that the Target bonus tracks will likely be out in the bottom 5 as they were nowhere near as good as the iTunes bonus tracks.

1) What will be #1? "Come See About Me"
2) What will be #16? "That's How Strong My Love Is"
3) Which songs will be in the top 5? "Come See About Me", "Suspicious Minds", "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man", "To Know Him Is To Love Him", and "If You Don't Know Me By Know"
4) What song will be most polarizing? Least polarizing?
Most - "In The Basement" Least - "Come See About Me"
5) If this album had had singles released to radio, which songs would you have released? Will they do well in this rankdown? I have no clue about either of these. "Come See About Me" or "Wild Night". I think "Come See About Me" will do well, but "Wild Night" will be towards the middle.
6) Any other thoughts/predictions? Based upon the other predictions, I am probably going to have some unpopular opinions. This album aged surprisingly well for me, I enjoy it more now than when it was first released.

I’ll be the weepin’ willow drownin’ in my tears, And you can go swimming when you are here. I’ll be the rainbow after the storm has gone, Wrap you in my colors and keep you warm.

"That's How Strong My Love Is" was a very clear bottom 2 contender for the majority of the submission process, but never really occupied the bottom position until the last couple lists, when one of the final submitters majorly boosted the primary last-place contender! This is a song that I had no doubt was going to do poorly in this rankdown. It is one of the more boring songs on the album, and being a hard-to-find bonus track just stacked the deck that much more against it. That being said, I don't see any way that this song is deserving of LAST place. Second-to-last would have been fine, but there is one song here at least that is SO much worse...

As you can see, "To Know Him Is To Love Him" was in last place for the majority of the submission process. It caught a lucky break at the very end, when kansasmeetsmo put it at #2! Fortunately, I am thrilled this song did not finish in last... I never have understood why this song is so hated. The melody is so relaxing and pleasant. It's basically like a lullaby, except it doesn't have the cheesy vibe that usually makes lullabies annoying. I could understand it being in the bottom five or something, but for it to have been a consistent last-place contender is just plain incorrect. The worst song of her entire career is still in...

how is "My Babe" not in the bottom 2? that song is terrible. Not upset with either of these going but that one should have been out before everything else on this album. Disappointed to see it still in.

My bottom 2 are still in but I can be happy knowing the next two lowest were the first gone. THSMLI and TKHITLH are more boring than bad.

I had to post one more reveal tonight, because I just could not stand this song still being in. "Baby What You Want Me To Do" is nothing short of a tragedy... The song just plods, Martina's vocal delivery sounds like literal crap, and it is without a doubt the worst song she has ever put on any studio album. It pains me to think about this song. It pains me to have to associate crap like this with Martina, who has created an entire career out of the ability to choose songs that are consistently above average. The horrendously incorrect lyrical grammar is also glaringly mismatched with Martina's image as an artist. It just is the wrong song for Martina to be covering. One positive, however, is that this song really allowed her band to jam out quite ferociously for the Everlasting tour! It is definitely one of those songs that was significantly better in a live setting. I wish she had left it off of the album and just used it as a tour song instead, maybe including "Son Of The Preacher Man" or something on the album (which was a song she performed with the album, but didn't put on the actual album). Oooo, or maybe "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman", which she has performed a lot through the years!

Well, I guess I had to flop in at least one of these Martina rankdowns... I become the first person to say goodbye to their #1, which unfortunately means we have lost the incredible "By Your Side". I did not have high expectations for this song's performance here, but I was hoping it would at least be close to the top 10. It was on pace to make it for awhile, but simply could not catch a break towards the end of the submissions. "By Your Side" is without a doubt the most soothing and relaxing song in Martina's entire catalog! It's such an odd song for her voice, but she absolutely sells it. Her vocal performance here sounds so mature and well-centered, helping the stripped back vibe of the song to be way more memorable than similar songs throughout her career like "Anything And Everything" where she added an uncharacteristic sweetness to her voice. In this song, the music, lyrics, and delivery are all perfectly matched for each other, and Martina seems to take a step back and allow the song to sell itself. It's so refreshing! One of my favorite things is the way that the little moments of tension happen in the instrumental arrangement, only to be resolved a second later (for example, right after the "I'll be there to hold you tight to me" line). Sure, this never would have been a good single for radio or anything. But as an artistic statement, this is nothing short of a masterpiece. It is a shame that tim and I are the only ones who could appreciate it.
