I love "If You Don't Know Me By Now". It has always been one of my favorite songs even before Martina covered it. I loved her cover of it when it was first released and it has remained one of my favorites since then.
As for "Wild Night", I enjoy it well enough but am surprised it is in the Top 4. Same with "Come See About Me". Definitely rooting for "In The Basement" and "Suspicious Minds"

"Suspicious Minds" should have been my #3 as I love her rendition of it better than any other version and I've always loved that song. Hopefully that one wins, but definitely sad "Come See About Me" is in the Top 2 :(

Not gonna lie, am a little disappointed to see "Come See About Me" at #1 but I do love her performance of that song just like others more. Great job hosting as always bboat11 !!! I am definitely surprised at your surprise to see CSAM do so well here! I have always thought that that one, "Suspicious Minds", and "If You Don't Know Me By Now" were the songs that really got attention from this album, and I wasn't even slightly surprised to see the more energetic two of those battle it out for the top spot. The thing that surprised me the most was honestly having "In The Basement" interject itself in and amongst all the pre-release singles that otherwise occupied the top 5! Thank you for participating, as always!!!  |

Wow. Twelve albums later, we have finally finished the bulk of this album series!!!!! I just want to thank everybody who listened, joined in, followed along, and just otherwise gave Martina a chance over the course of the past year and a half. I had a TON of fun with this, between getting to revisit every Martina album from the critical lens of how to rank them, to getting to see how you all felt about them, to figuring out the vocal ranges for (almost) every song, even to getting to bury myself waist-deep in the various rare pictures I could find of Martina while attempting to create a personal cover art for every song she has released! This was honestly the type of journey that every stan dreams of I had SO much fun bringing this thing to life, but I could not have done it without the willing participation of each and every one of you. Whether you only participated in one album, or every single one; whether you already knew every album, or were immersing yourself for the first time; I sincerely appreciate your time and effort. Your opinions and thoughts made this whole thing worthwhile. That being said... OH, WE'RE NOT DONE YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!!!! (Reference to the live recording of "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" from her Live album, for those who are familiar ;) ) There is still more work to be done! First of all, I have mentioned in the past the idea of doing an Extras rankdown. Martina has SO many incredible songs that never made a real studio album (like, hello, a few of her biggest hits like "Concrete Angel" and "Where Would You Be"?!) Plan for that to be coming your way in the next few days! Second of all, I have been promising an album tracks rankdown to honor all of the most-loved album tracks from this series, allowing them to shine without being stuck in the shadow of her huge hits. For that one, I will be using the same format that castleoblivion26 is using for his current Jo Dee Messina album tracks rankdown (btw, participate in that one y'all!!!!! It's due on March 15th!!) In other words, it will be the top 5 highest-finishing album tracks from each studio album. And then of course, Martina is still a consistent recording artist, so as she releases new albums in the future, I will revive this thread so that we can rankdown those future releases.
(**Now, the only problem with the Extras rankdown and the album tracks rankdown is that Martina has had quite a bit...bigger...of a career than Jo Dee Messina has...  I hope that you all will not let the size of those rankdowns scare you off... They are very important parts to this series! I would love to see them get at least close to as many participants as the regular studio albums did! The album track rankdown, especially, should be well-attended because anyone who participated in the majority of the albums will already know the majority of the songs!**) |

Woo! The right song won! "Come See About Me" was fantastic. I didn't really care much for this album overall but this was one of the few that I really enjoyed.

Martina McBride: Extras Rankdown
Alright, here it is! As promised, the Extras rankdown, which is the next step of our Martina McBride Album Series. Unfortunately this is a bit larger than your typical album rankdown, but that is kinda what happens when you are honoring somebody who has managed to maintain a relevant recording career for 25+ years  Martina has been lucky through the years to not have any hangups with shelved albums or label antics leaving her music unaccessible, so none of these songs are really what I would describe to be "rare" (unless they are from another artist's unreleased project, as with the Terri Clark song). Several of these songs are new songs released on compilation albums, such as her four huge singles from the Greatest Hits album. A significant portion of these songs are from soundtracks. The vast majority are from collaborations with other artists.
I have made a list of all songs that feature Martina that have not been released on one of her regular studio albums. There were about 60 songs on that list... I have removed songs that she just sang background vocals for (such as Andy Griggs' "Practice Life"), a bunch of live recordings, a few remixes, and a few collaborations with 5+ people (such as "Forever Country"). After all that, I have got this down to a list of 40 songs. I feel that the remaining songs are all relevant to her career, and adequately portray what a wide impact she has had in all corners of the music industry.

Due to the somewhat random nature of this rankdown, I have no clue what the streaming availability is for some of these songs. I will do some looking around Spotify and Apple Music and see if I can put some kind of playlist together for those who want it, but I would honestly recommend using my YouTube links as much as possible because that's just so much easier than having to find them on your own! Lol

Doing some catching up on rankdowns and wanted to add that I’m trilled to see “Come See About Me” win for Everlasting as it was one of my favorite discoveries when I first listened to the album and is such a fun and energetic tune. I almost put it as my #1 but I found that I kept coming back around to revisit “Bring It on Home to Me” more and although I knew it wouldn’t do quite as well I still think it’s a jam plus Martina and Gavin really sounded great together on it.
I must’ve missed the notification for the Extras Rankdown because I didn’t even realize it was launched yesterday...or maybe I just overlooked it because of all the other gazillion notifications I’m getting now...but count me in!

So yeah, I have done a horrible job promoting this one, and now the deadline is already only a week away... But my Master's program is going to keep me really busy this week, AND I need to present two George albums and a Reba album before it's this one's turn... But then Best of the Best is also happening the week after Reba, and Revenge of the Best right after that... So, long story short, this one is being extended. Extensively. As in, the new deadline will be after the next Best of the Best/Revenge of the Best cycle... So, plan to have this one done by Wednesday, May 22nd! Hopefully y'all can handle the whiplash. I don't want this semi-large rankdown to get lost alongside the even bigger 1999 rankdown, nor do I want you guys to have to worry about getting both done in the same weekend. Plus (hint hint!) I am anticipating the next Best of the Best rankdown being due at the end of April (!), and I do not want to push this back all the way til like May, because that would be ridiculous.
