I'm so excited about this one! So many great songs and I literally have no idea what to expect on this one. I have a fairly clear bottom three or so, but the rest is gonna be painful no matter what gets eliminated!

By the way, very little has changed with the results for the last 5 submissions or so. I am anticipating that at this point, everything is pretty much set in stone regardless of who else participates.

The one exception? We have a 2-way race for #1 that is definitely a nail-biter!! Seriously, I cannot believe that these 2 songs have managed to achieve such consistency, and continue to be so neck-and-neck! Although in reality even #3 and #4 are still within easy striking distance of the #1 position as well, so it is potentially a 4-way race if either of the top 2 have a semi-bad update...

I thought that if I listen to this album million times (approximately) ranking this songs would be easier... Well that wasn't a case at all because with every listen I started to like songs that I didn't like all that much at first and then final decisions were even harder to make.

I am thrilled to announce that the turnout for this rankdown has been even stronger than that of the last one! Evolution is one of the most iconic country albums of all time, so I am extremely happy that so many of you were willing to participate in this. This album has been certified 3xPlatinum (just like me!) over the course of its 20 year lifespan, and is home to a significant amount of Martina's biggest and most iconic hits. As I promised in my introductory write-up for this album on the previous page, we are in for one hell of a rankdown!

But holy s**t, you guys... I don't even think you know what a ride you are in for! With our final submission from born , a song took the #1 spot that had NEVER occupied the #1 spot at any prior point for the entire submission process!!! To make matters even crazier, the two songs that I had previously mentioned were battling it out for the top ended up TYING with each other in the runner-up position. Therefore #2 vs. #3 will come down to which of the two has the most #1 rankings! I am still geeking out from entering the calculations about a half hour ago!

Some more random stats:
-A whopping 4 people have correctly guessed the #14 as well as the #1!
-Of the 14 songs, only 5 of them received a #1 rank.
-Of the 5 songs to be ranked #1, there is only 1 that did not receive multiple #1 ranks.
-Of the 14 songs, 6 of them received #14 ranks.
-Throughout the submission process, only 3 songs ever occupied the #1 position.
-Our #14 remained the same for the entire submission process...
-Our next album has been voted by 12 out of the 17 participants! (A significant victory. 2nd place only had 8 votes.)

Based on general Martina McBride rankdown A Broken Wing should easily win this one. But I'm not sure this is the case so maybe Be That Way, Wrong Again or Whatever You Say have a chance to win.

Since Born in RED didn't participate in first MM rankdown there is no way to know which song he pushed to first place.
I really wish my #1 would win this rankdown and I think it even has a chance but I don't want to get my hopes up too much because I don't want to be disappointed.

Anyway there is no way bad song would win this rankdown simply because there isn't any

Edit - I read through this thread again and now I'm pretty sure A Broken Wing is not a winner of this rankdown because there is almost zero chance that this song wasn't on #1 place for at least one submision before the Born in RED's one.

2. The fact that I changed the #1 makes me SO EXCITED. It's probably my #1 too!

3. I'm slightly disappointed at the album because I was really expecting an album much much stronger than "Eleven" from what I'd heard. The problem here is that there weren't any songs that blew me away. Way too many same-styled ballads. I still remember my entire top 4 from the "Eleven" RD.

She was talking about the general Martina McBride rankdown that happened earlier this year. Anyone who participated in that one has a pretty good idea of where each of the hits place in relation to each other, and which posters are likely to boost or tank certain songs. That's how I was able to (correctly) predict that Backwoods Barbie would tank my #1 towards the top of this page

Also, that's too bad that the album didn't live up to the hype for you. Hopefully it will grow on you throughout the reveal, because this really is an incredible album... But I also understand that for somebody who is not primarily a country fan, '90s country can be a little bit tougher to get into. This album happens to be so well-produced that it is an easy introduction to '90s country, but still I could see that factoring in.

Lol I figured nobody would fall for that trickery.... But I couldn't resist! Tis the season! Our real #14 is absolutely no surprise to anybody. "I'm Little But I'm Loud" is cute, and Martina's vocals were absolutely incredible for a small child, and the song is an effective lead-in to the album that would prove to be her biggest artistic step forward of her entire career...but in the grand scheme of things it is hard to rank this ahead of literally anything else on the album. This recording features Martina singing with her family band when she was 7 years old. This song stands out for its lyrics, which are pretty much a perfect summary of Martina as a vocalist. In her early career she had no training except for whatever she taught herself by singing in the family band and playing her Linda Ronstadt records on repeat; she just loved to sing. Not to mention that she herself is only 5'2", so she is literally puny, short, and little, but damn is she loud! If you explore YouTube for just a minute or two, you are bound to see some kind of comment along the lines of "How does such a huge voice come out of such a tiny person??!"

While I do not dislike this song, I am not surprised at all to see it leave first. Or that it was in last place for the entire competition Lol
