Idk why but I feel like Sam Smiths song will not be too big. I don't see too much potential in it. But hey, I could be wrong.

^#1 on iTunes, #2 on Spotify. It could be a hit, or it could be a flop, all we have to do is wait and see what happens.

All songs start off well if its from a hyped artist. 2U started the same way and look what happened to it. Lets see what will happen with Sam Smiths song.

It's only there for now, and I did say it COULD flop, not that it IS flopping. Even with it being as high as it is now, it could fall off pretty quick, but then again, I don't know.

Shawn failed to get an airplay #1 now. LWYMMD climbs up slowlier than expected.

Let's just stop here before the "what really is a hit" debate is restarted again It would help tremendously if people would stop being so bloody rigid with their definitions. The criteria is always flexible and context is VERY important. :sip2:

Was looking through the SOY thread in CHR and found this: This is going to be top 10 on airplay til July at this point. It's #7 on AC with a huge bullet for that format. It's September and it's #6 and has an increase in audience.

Has there ever been a song to spend a full year in the top 10 on the radio charts, my guess is it has never happened though? But it's still astonishing that SoY is still in the top 10 after months since it's release.

I never expected DNA to get 20 weeks. I thought it would look more like Sign Of The Times.

^The difference is that DNA continued to be streamed after its release. Sign of the Times had mostly digital sales and some radio. When those dried up, that was the end for it ...

Has there ever been a song to spend a full year in the top 10 on the radio charts, my guess is it has never happened though? But it's still astonishing that SoY is still in the top 10 after months since it's release. the record for weeks in the top 10 on radio tracks pretty closely to the record for weeks in the top 10 of the hot 100 The other reason why achieving 52 weeks is now virtually impossible is that once a song goes recurrent on the Hot 100, it can no longer chart in Radio Songs even though it has enough weekly audience due to the rule that appears to tie the Radio Songs chart run to the Hot 100 one. I consider that to be highly arbitrary since there's no similar rule preventing a song from charting in Digital Song Sales or Streaming Songs even though it isn't charting in the Hot 100.

Wow if Taylor had released RFI on a Friday, she could have been top2 by herself. Legend

I just really hate the lack of change in the Hot 100. The fact that Praying won't break Top 20 is disgusting.
