Like I said before, one point separates #6 and #5.
I'm so glad this next one did so well!

Surprised “He’ll Yeah” didn’t make the top 5 tbh.
Really hoping “Gone” is well...gone soon.

Surprised “He’ll Yeah” didn’t make the top 5 tbh. It should have! I am certain that if this rankdown was hosted on, say, a Montgomery Gentry fan board instead of a general music board, this would have EASILY made top 5, if not #1.

The next song out is also the first one to have more than one participant rank it at #1!

I'm okay with all of these songs missing Top 5 EXCEPT for "Hell Yeah", that should have made it. Easily their signature sound, and one of their signature songs along with "Something To Be Proud Of" and "My Town.

Although I didn't make a top ten prediction, I may as well make a top five one! 5. She Couldn't Change Me 4. Lonely and Gone 3. My Town 2. Speed 1. Something to Be Proud Of

I loved “Gone” a whole lot more until Scotty McOverrated ruined it for me. Still good though.
I need My Town, Speed, and STBPO to be the top 3 because the other 2 shouldn’t be too 10

So glad "Hillbilly Shoes" was the first song to leave the top 10. It has just never stuck with me, or grown on me, no matter how many times I have listened to it. I'm not really surprised to see "Hell Yeah" leave at the bottom of the top 10. I personally think it should have been a top 5 contender, but I knew that it was polarizing on Pulse. I'm pretty sure a Montgomery Gentry-centered rankdown is the only chance this song will ever have of making the top 10 in a rankdown But I totally agree that this is the perfect embodiment of their signature sound. "Better Me" - I'm shocked to see myself as the second lowest ranker! I don't even dislike this song! I just feel like it has no place among their all-time best. The melody is a little lackluster and the instrumentation is sterile. And if it weren't for Troy's death, the lyrics would be borderline generic... I still enjoy listening to this, but it sure didn't need to last any longer than it did. "If You Ever Stop Loving Me" is a jam! I always tend to forget about it though, and then when I remember it I forget how much I like it... It was too overplayed back in the day, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit these days! Definitely belonged in the top 10 here. "Gone" has a super polarizing melody. I'm not really surprised to see it do so well here, but I am also not surprised to see it miss the top 5. This song is the definition of love-it-or-hate-it.

Also, how does somebody sit here and complain about "Hell Yeah" leaving early despite being their signature sound, and then simultaneously rank "My Town" at #19? This is literally their other signature sound.

Lemme get caught up on commenting!
"Hillbilly Shoes" is such a JAM! Classic MG, both in terms of it being their first single and a perfect representation of their style!
"Hell Yeah" how do I describe my love for thee? It is QUINTESSENTIAL Montgomery Gentry musically and lyrically, it is such a jam! The verse is delicious! The chorus goes hard! The music video is amazing! I stan! HELL YEAH, TURN IT UP, RIGHT ON!
"Better Me" is beautiful. I would have loved it regardless, but given the context of it's release and how personal of a song it was for Troy, I adore it so much. It's a bittersweet listen... but I'm thrilled that we have it, and the whole new album, and I'm thrilled that Troy was working hard to become the man he wanted to be and that he was making great strides in his endeavor <3
"If You Ever Stop Loving Me" is just a straight up country/rock jam and I'm thrilled that it made it as high as it did.
"Gone" is THEE jam to end all jams! If it wasn't for "Hell Yeah" it would have easily been my #1. Also, when I saw MG live this past January, he told us that this was Troy's favorite song... which just hit me right in the feels! I got up out my seat, and f**king ROCKED OUT to the song at that concert. I did it to show my love for Eddie the band and to honor T-Roy. Love this song so much.
Okay so "My Town" is always one I don't think I like as much as I do until I listen to it lmao. I do love it, but again, it didn't pain me as much to place it lower. However, this is definitely one of MG's signature songs and it actually just feels right that it's in the top 5. One point separated this and "Gone."

This is literally their other signature sound. I basically said this in my recent post that it's one of their signature songs lol but stricltly, purely, from a musical standpoint... it doesn't give me as much enjoyment as the 18 songs I ranked ahead of it. Don't let that fool you though... I love it and proudly sing and dance to it when I listen to it! I LOVE my entire top 27, please don't forget that! This wasn't an easy RD for me to do y'all lol
