Wow, it won by 2 points. That was closer than I expected. I've found the prechorus getting stuck in my head which is why I lowered it to #7. The drop is still plain stupid but i'd still take it over some recent drops if I had to

40. I Give You Power - Arcade Fire f/ Mavis StaplesThis song , for this band, is not good. not by any standards, but I don't feel any dislike for it at all. 39. Cocoon - Milky ChanceI'm glad this song flopped. It didn't do much damage on the chart for me to hate it, but it's still "Milky Way" vocals. 38. Walk on Water - Thirty Seconds to MarsI've come to realize, that I'm not a fan of this band. "Up In The Air" was one of 3 or 4 songs I really liked from this band, the rest suck. I especially, hate this sell out crap song, and the whole structure of the song. I'm glad it made the top 40 worst songs of 2017 so far. Should of been way higher, but whatever. 37. Feels Like Summer - WeezerCrap song by a band that's turning its back on the alt sound that made them who they are. If you don't want to use your guitars, give them to me. I'll especially take the one with the lightning bolt strap. 36. Fire Escape - Andrew McMahon in the WildernessCrap song with crap sound. This is so bad, it's invisible. 35. The Resistance - SkilletAnother song that begs the question? WTF is it doing on this list? It's the best from the 3 singles they have released so far and that guitar solo outtro is amazing. 34. Say You Won't Let Go - James ArthurI really enjoyed one song from this artists titled, "Get Down" it sorta reminded me of Jon Secada. The music structure was good, but this song was boring as hell. 33. Alone - I PrevailI will do whatever I can to chase this pussy rock sound off Active, before the chart turns into another Alt chart. Plus, this band sucks. 32. Ringer - The Unlikely CandidatesAnother forgettable song, that I had forgotten was this bad. I hate this sort of style on any chart. 31. One of Us - New PoliticsAnother band that was starting to sound pretty good to me with "West End Kids". Now they suck beyond words.

Hey, we finally found someone who is willing to defend "Young and Menace". It sure took a long time for that to happen. Both of these songs are just...terrible. The difference for me is that "Greatest Show on Earth" is more of your standard terrible song, whereas "Young and Menace"...holy schnikes, that song is its own unique brand of terrible. I can't say that it's definitively one of the worst songs I have ever heard, but I can't think of too many songs I've heard in my lifetime that are worse.

35. The Resistance - SkilletAnother song that begs the question? WTF is it doing on this list? It's the best from the 3 singles they have released so far and that guitar solo outtro is amazing. Skillet's album was lousy, and this song is lame as well. THIS IS HOW WE RISE UP Rise up for what? Nowhere in the song does it state the motive of the "revolution" in the song, as wheatsquares pointed out. Also, that guitar solo is NOT experimenting, although it's the saving grace of the song. Listen to Kid A to find out what experimenting truly is.

I'll do this in three parts, and I really have nothing positive to say about any of these songs, but I'll say it anayway. 30. Dig Down - MuseThis is by far the worst Muse song I ever heard. Another band that might as well turn in their guitars if they are not going to properly use them anymore. 29. Ahead of Myself - X AmbassadorsThis band saves itself from my top 10, because this year is a travesty to Alt. 28. Heavy - Linkin Park f/ KiiaraI kinda started ,almost, kinda, wanting ,to chart this, but by the end of it's chart life, I just didn't care for it anymore. 27. Set on Fire - Magic Giantbanjos. They wear me thin. 26. Lay It on Me - Vance JoyThis guy's vocals are a hazzard to our health. 25. Madness - All That RemainsDefinitely not their best, but I'm one of those members that find it almost impossible to stick rock songs into one of these lists, unless they are super bad. 24. Pure Evil - Like a StormSame as above. It's rock. Awful rock, but its rock, and it least they are using their guitars properly. 23. Hymn for the Weekend - ColdplayBeyonce doesn't belong on alt, and come to think of it, this band has worn out their welcome too. 22. Legendary - Welshly ArmsI put this even higher because it has stuck around the alt chart for no reason at all, but to stink it up, but it's still a nothing song. 21. Believer - Imagine DragonsI tanked this because its horrid and i don't want this band on any chart related to rock. Just go away already.

20. The Truth - In FlamesI forgot what this sounds like, but I doubt it was this bad. 19. Not Easy - Alex Da Kid f/ X Ambassadors & Elle KingI hate these songs where they want to cram in a bunch of artists into one 18. Champion - Fall Out BoyThis band here is a real travesty. I used to love these guys. R.I.P. FOB. 17. California Dreaming - Hollywood UndeadI hate this band, but rock will always get a semi free pass with me. 16. Must Be Nice - NickelbackF UCK is what I'm thinking. 15. All Time Low - Jon BellionThis garbage should have been much higher. It's hardly even a proper song. 14. Shape of You - Ed SheeranI think I ended up hating this even more the last I heard it. LOL! At this being a huge Pop song. 13. Legends - Sleeping with SirensTwo words describe thie song. Useless & ridiculous. 12. Suit & Jacket - J udah & The Lion I knew this would be one of the worst songs of the year, As soon as this went top 10. I hate it even more because of that. 11. Rx (Medicate) - Theory of a DeadmanThis song has nothing to do with the Theory of a Deadman I knew and loved. You guys can have it.

Skillet's album was lousy No. Yes. Skillet's album was crap. Look no further than the reviews (see theneedledrop or ARTV, both of whom criticized the album) If they continue on their quality drop, I'm expecting them to go the pop route or release an album on the level of Suicide Silence or Prophets of Rage-hate. Just give me a song similar to the Awake era and I'll be fine. Back from the Dead has grown on me, but the stuttering was annoying. (contrary to that, I liked Feel Invincible initially but it burnt on me) Honestly, Stars was better than all three rock singles released so far

These are so bad, I'm not even going to highlight them. 10. Something Just Like This - The Chainsmokers & Coldplay I'm done with this band. The fact that they let the Chainsmokers put their name first in this, tells me they probably just did it for the money. 9. Middle Fingers - MISSIO One of the most embarrassing momets in Alt and Active chart history. 8. Anti-Everything - DED See how low I put this? I prefer this over the so called Alt Crossovers with banjos and s**t. 7. Vacation - Dirty Heads This is truly awful, but I couldn't put it in my top 20. Not with so much garbage still around. 6. LOUD (f**k It) - Motionless in White This is horrid for a rock song, but I'm bias for rock and guitars, so deal with it. 5. Take It All Back - Judah & The Lion Who saved this garbage from Top 3 status.? 4. Thunder - Imagine Dragons How any one put this song under a #10 ranking is beyond me? I put this at number one for about 20 reasons. One of them is that horrid horrid chorus. Another is the fact that it will be a future #1 Alt song. And I will relpeat it for the 100th time. This band has nothing to do on ACtive chart. 3. Royals - Otep Why becuse it's harsh. IDK about the rest of you, but I would listen to this 20 times in a row before I would listen to "Thunder" once. 2. Greatest Show on Earth - Kid Rock LOL! I think I submitted this and ended up putting it a lot lower than I ever thought I would. It sucks true, but has some cowbell. 1. Young and Menace - Fall Out Boy This is a horrid song. No doubt about that, but it didn't do damage on any chart. I hardly ever came across it, so it doesn't ruin my day. It's a weak #1. IMOP, "Thunder" got robbed of it's rightful position!

Y'all at least had great taste in the top 2. Glad to see "Thunder" and "Take it all Back" not win

The best part about this rankdown being done, is that I don't have to listen to a lot of these songs ever again. At least not on purpose.

Thunder and Take It All Back are two of the biggest alt hits this year, so my rankings are more in line with the typical alt radio listeners than you guys are.
Young and Menace, yeah I am one of very very few to think it's great. I'm also a fan of early Skrillex stuff so I admit the style of this song is an acquired taste

Had to go for a bit after the post below, so let's see what I've missed. I'm not expecting it to happen, but my #1 being the rankdown #1 would be a pretty sweet birthday gift. ...of course it went out right after I posted this. It only took a couple of listens for "Vacation" to swoop into my 10 least favorite songs of all time. That irritating "ayy-ayy-AYYYYY", that awful trap beat mixed with the reggae-styled piano, awful rapping (and rhyming in general - besides some of the verses, the chorus rhymes "occupation" and "change it")...such a dreadful song all around. But I still have my #2 and #3 in, so I'm going to hope that either of them win. Yup, just who I expected tanking "Take It All Back" and "Thunder" (also the same two lowest rankers for "Vacation" ). Aw, there's my #2 (the "Royals" cover). A first listen, and I had to shut it off midway through. What did Lorde do to deserve the screamo treatment? So we're down to a bad rock and rool song with an unnecessary 8 minute long instrumental section...and "Young and Menace". I fully anticipate having the lowest rank on the latter. I'll explain...it's not even that low on my list, but that hilariously awkward drop and the pitch-shifting send it into "so bad it's good" territory. I'm pretty sure I nearly choked from laughter the first time I heard it. I definitely find it to be much more entertaining to listen to than everything I ranked higher than it. Oh wow, I don't even have the lowest rank for it. A much closer finish than I anticipated, too.

Otep's "Royals" is without a doubt one of the worst songs I've heard my life...and I had it at #5. This year is terrible.
Also, I'm convinced alexcuse played this entire game backwards and never figured it out.

Nice to see my top 2 make top 2. Wouldve liked the positions to be switched but there was no way Young and Menace was going to lose this. kid rock has made a career out of making the s**ttiest and most intolerable music.
