Can't even get a perfect ranking this late with "Gone Away". Considered "Black Honey" to be a dark horse to win this. I think this is Rise Against's to lose, but...we'll see.

Desperately trying to not judge anyone who put this in the bottom half of their ranking... ... Okay, I'm able to not judge. I imagine Lord will not be as lenient, though...when he comes back from Hulaween.

The #1 originally had a sizable lead over the #2, but the #2 was able to catch up and at one point overtook the #1. The point gap is very close, at only a 2-point difference.

As soon as you said this, I thought to myself, "...oh my god, 'Schism' is going to win this, isn't it?" And it did. Hahaha, holy crap.

I'm glad Tool was able to win this. As soon as I saw the list of 30 songs, I knew "Schism" would be my #1. One of my favorite songs of all-time. This was a great top 10 overall. A really solid list of great rock music!

Didn't really care much for this top 5 (outside of my #1 obviously)...had the Tool song been Stinkfist or Forty Six & 2 instead, I would have given it a much higher rank

ok lets see. If I only had these ten songs to play with? My rankings in blue. 10. Only (9)The music is more special than his vocal delivery, but it sounds like one of the more melodic songs from NIN. I've heard this, I just can't recall if it was a big hit? 9. When the Levee Breaks - Led Zeppelin (6)One of the more bluesy songs from this iconic band. I'm more into tracks #1 and #4 on this album, but it's still a classic. So how many of you; besides me, actually have this album in their collection? 8. Slaves & Bulldozers - Soundgarden (4)Ok so nothing can touch "Spoonman" for me, when it comes to this band, but this song is pretty cool. It's heavy and not boring at all. I dare say it touches more into 70's Heavy Metal than actual grunge. This isn't no Nirvana crap. I actually get some Sabbath vibes from this one. 7. Sowing Season (Yeah) - Brand New (10)So this one isn't really my style. It takes to long to get the meaty stuff, then goes back down. Not good work out music. 6. Gone Away - The Offspring (2)This is one of my favorite out of these ten. I have a feeling that mine and American Idiot 's vote would have elevated this one into top 5? 5. Black Honey - Thrice (3)Another late favorite of mine. If I could rewrite history I probably would have charted this last year? Nice to see it go top 5 4. This Is the Time (Ballast) - Nothing More (5)Man I used to hate this when it first came out. Now? Not so much. I'm still not moved by the intro, but I came to appreciate Jonny Hawkins, high range vocals a lot more. Yep. I like it more than Zeppelin's entry. 3. Deftones - Minerva (7)This one sounds a bit more accessible to me. The chorus is rather melodic. We have not come across this song on any rankdown yet. I know this, because I would rank this a bit higher than I normally do songs from this band. 2. Prayer of the Refugee - Rise Against (1)This is a timeless classic, and has all the aspects I love about harder Alt/Rock. 1. Tool - Schism (8)One of the more accessible songs from this band. A lot of you put this at #1. Again, only I can understand when I say this is a bit too mellow for me.

Damn it Daryl you spoiled the winner for me when I opened the thread in the morning : p
10. Only - Very cool song, there's something about it that I really enjoy. 9. When The Levee Breaks - It's 7 minute long but honestly, it ends kind of quick because the song is changing a lot. 8. Slaves & Bulldozers - Not a huge fan of them I guess, I don't really love Cornell's vocals and the song just doesn't go anywhere. 7. Sowing Season (Yeah) - Damn it I was rooting for this one, it was easily my favorite discovery here. When the song played for the first time I was like "Well this is kind of weak" but then the YEAH kicked in with the guitar riff and I loved it, also the verses are nice actually. 6. Gone Away - Nice discovery, I loved the vocals and the guitar was great too. 5. Black Honey - Kind of surprised it got so high. I mean, it's pretty great but I thought the older songs would be favored here. Only top 10's remaining. 4. This Is the Time (Ballast) - Awesome song, a good riff on the verses and the chorus is great. #1, 3 & 4 Remaining. 3. Minerva - What do I need to say, another really solid track I've heard by them. #1 vs #3. 2. Prayer Of The Refugee - Let's say I think I like it even more than Savior (I've been listening to Injection a lot too lately). This is my most played song of the last month, I love it so much. The riff is perfect and was stuck in my head for days and the hook is so good, a bit sad it didn't get #1 here. So close to it too. 1. Schism - But this is still a great winner, my 2nd favorite discovery here. This was my first time listening to them, and damn this is a strong bass line and overall great instrumental work.
Thanks for hosting this Daryl! looking forward to part 2 (if it's gonna happen).

Maybe Minerva has a chance at #1 in the 2003 rankdowns. Not at all surprised that Tool wins their rankdown debut.
