#35"Rockin' Robin"Cover of the classic single made famous by Bobby Day. This was MJ's second solo single and managed an even higher peak than his debut by reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. With this leaving we say good-bye to the adolescent Michael Jackson and move along to adult only material...

"Liberian Girl"Up to this point only one MJ album had yet to see a song fall. That album was Bad and this, the 9th single released from it, is the first to be cast away. The video is an 80's who's-who which features appearances by Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Sherman Hemsley, Brigitte Nielsen, Paula Abdul, Whoopi Goldberg, Quincy Jones, Jackie Collins, Jasmine Guy, Rosanna Arquette, Lou Diamond Phillips, Olivia Newton-John, John Travolta, Corey Feldman and Steven Spielberg among many others, including Michael. Not released in the US, this was a Top 15 hit in a few European markets. "Ghosts"This was the b-side to the already ranked "HIStory" which was released in July of 1997.
Taken from the short film of the same name (from which I used the artwork for this post) this charted as high as No. 3 in Italy and like many of his other Gothic songs, explores themes like fear and paranoia.
Someone loses a Top 5 and a few others lose a Top 20...

"Another Part Of Me""Another Part Of Me" was released in the summer of 1988 as the sixth single from Bad. Originally written and used in the Disneyland exclusive film Captian Eo starring Jackson, the song became the albums 6 th consecutive Top 20, peaking at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100. This was a last minute inclusion on Bad as "Streetwalker" was originally going to appear in its place on the album.

"Heal The World"We lose another albums sixth single with this one, released in November of 1992 from the album Dangerous. Though it under-performed in the US, it was a huge international success, reaching the Top 10 in over 15 countries. In a 2001 internet chat MJ said that "Heal The World" is the song he was most proud to have created. MJ would also create the Heal The World Foundation which was a charitable organization designed to improve the lives of children.
The songs popularity has endured over the years and most recently had its music video Vevo certified for over 100 million views.

I meant the 30 songs remaining, oops. I don’t know if that’s common practice and I guess it’s easy enough for anyone to figure out but I sort of want to keep the suspense up so I won’t be posting the remaining Top 30 songs...until they are revealed individually. I will post the 30 songs ranked so far, however (from highest to lowest): Heal The World Another Part Of Me Ghosts Liberian Girl Rockin' Robin' She's Out Of My Life Love Never Felt So Good (solo or w/Justin Timberlake) Jam The Girls Is Mine (w/Paul McCartney) Got To Be There Ease On Down The Road (w/Diana Ross) Butterflies Hollywood Tonight Ben History Music & Me Girlfriend Gone Too Soon Cry Ain't No Sunshine One More Chance A Place With No Name Childhood Farewell My Summer Love Hold My Hand I Wanna Be Where You Are Just A Little Bit Of You Behind The Mask We're Almost There With A Child's Heart

50. Ain't No Sunshine (47): Just an OK cover 49. Cry (46): Just an OK ballad 48. Gone Too Soon (56): Wish I could've ranked this a bit higher, but I just don't like it except for its lyrics 47. Girlfriend (44): An oldie that I look more than most of the other oldies 46. Music & Me (59): This was just a blah song to me and a clear bottom of the barrel from the outset 45. History (34): I do like enough the remix of this one following Blood, even though it had a bit of a generic feel 44. Ben (43): Almost perfect ranking, my second most favorite of the oldies 43. Hollywood Tonight (40): Second most favorite discovery for me in this RD 42. Butterflies (51): I haven't ever been a fan of this one. I tried once again for this RD, but nope, just see it as messy unfortunately 41. Ease Down the Road (55): I may have under-ranked this a bit. Fun and all, but maybe a bit too musical to me...

It's a testament to how strong his catalogue is in that what is technically his biggest hit (according to Billboard methodology) only managed No. 30 on this rankdown.

"You Rock My World"
This, the last Top 10 hit MJ had while he was alive, was released as the first single from his 2001 album Invincible. The success of this song was based solely on radio play as a physical release was not issued in North America.
A 13 minute long music video was released in support of the single which featured appearances from Marlon Brando and Chris Tucker, among others.
MJ did not want this as the first single from the album, favoring "Unbreakable." This was originally intended to be the second single from the album.
We see a Top 5 leave and a few Top 20 placements as well.
This was the second and final tie in the rankdown having tied with "Say Say Say." This one had a higher individual peak on a members rankdown (No. 5) than "Say Say Say" did so it is ranked higher.

APOM actually made it to the top 10 of both the sales and airplay charts too if I remember correctly, it just didn't align which is why it just missed on the Hot 100.
Liberian Girl is lowkey one of his best songs.

Yup, that's true, it peaked on radio September 3rd, 1988 at No. 10 but didn't peak in sales until September 17th at No. 8. It was already out of the Top 40 on radio by September 24th.
The song peaked at No. 11 on the Hot 100 the week ending September 10th.

I can't imagine Whitney on IJCSLY. At the time, she was in over-sing-everything mode.
