...SECOND-LOWEST?!?!
Wow. To say that I was not expecting that would be a massive understatement. This is actually surprising to me, lol.

And then there was two. Statistically, they received pretty similar scores, with both getting medium standard deviations and a single #1. One achieves the feat of having all but two rankings top 10, the other achieved having no bottom 5s. One has an extra top 5, but also has the lowest rank of the two. Which is which? Will it be the foundational alt metal anthem taking the crown, or a song created from the foundation of it, 15 years later, that some say transcends the genre all together? Find out in a bit!

So who ranked Midlife Crisis #1?
As influential as Faith No More have been, and despite all of my favorite bands disagreeing with me I find them to be a tad overrated. I think their music is good, but not great. And this was a stacked rankdown so it's no surprise I didn't rank it very high.
But Deftones keep getting close, they need to finally win one!

Ok with this winner, but would've preferred FNM obviously, lol. Fun rankdown, rainie! I'd love to see a part 2 of this.

Honestly it can't be anyone other than Deftones to win an alt metal rankdown. No other band can perfectly blend soft beauty with heavy guitarwork as well as them.

#5. Soundgarden - Blow Up the Outside World Not the best Soundgarden has to offer. Had this been "Spoon Man" I would have had a different #1 song.
#4. At the Drive In - One Armed Scissor I feel like I must justify myself again, so here goes. This is actually pretty melodic. Not so much on the vocals, but surely you hear the melodic guitars. They also add the song's power. Once again, the vocals are the part I like least, but The lyrics of "Get Away.....one Armed Scissor" flow pretty melodically too. This song is 100x more melodic than Deftones, and much more uptempo.
#3. Nine Inch Nails - March of the Pigs So a song That nobody puts at either #2 or #3, somehow makes the top 3. Crazy how these rankdowns work. This song is a bit more punk rock leaning than industrial NIN, so that's why I kind of dig on it more.
#2. Faith No More - Midlife Crisis This song has that "big hit back then" effect on me. It's pretty cool.
#1*Deftones - Cherry Waves It wouldn't be an offecial pulse rankdown without me tanking at least one Deftones song. I can't even work out to this band's music.

Meant to respond last night, but I kind of fell asleep. Yeah. I have no issue with the top two order. These two and OAS were about equal, in my eyes. Good job hosting, Anna! I know that this must have been tough on you, but you really did well.

I'm glad you guys enjoyed my rankdown! It was decent amount of work and it did take its toll on me (in case that wasn't obvious by the semi breakdown I had on the final day ) but it was also a super fun experience that I'm glad I got to host! Part 2 may be coming, though it probably won't be for a little while. For future reference, any specific praises/criticisms you guys have? This was obviously my first time hosting a rankdown so I sort of went in blind, though I like to think it came out okay! C:

Not exactly a criticism, but I noticed you had a little bit of trouble keeping the formatting consistent. What I’d do (this is what I did) would be type out a fake reveal post, go to BBCode, and copy and paste it so you can easily format the reveals. Great job though!
