25. I Don't Want Your LoveI actually do love this one, and I wanted to rank it higher, but Troy picked so many other competitve singles. Including ones I never knew were released? This was probably the last great tune they released in the 80's? 1988 was the year Dead Or ALive, Paula Adbul and this band , all used similar sounds in their music. 24. Lonely In Your NightmareI don't recall hearing this one too much on the radio? Maybe I did on KROQ, back when ,that station was cool.

Reach Up For The Sunshine (310 pts)Album: Astronaut Released: September 2004 This is the last song to (barely) chart on US pop charts (let's hope that changes someday). But as you can see it was a much bigger deal in the rest of the world. #89 US Pop #1 US Dance #2 Italy #5 UK #7 Scotland #22 Australia #25 Netherlands #32 Ireland #37 NZ #39 Germany #42 Belgium #61 Switzerland Disco🌶️📖 : 2 mamooshka : 5 Troy : 8 Mirago : 18 Doc Indie Party Rock : 23 rainie : 23 Juanca : 32 Glove Slap : 33 Pollen : 36 @cagedjuggalo : 38 Red : 39 peacebone : 45 watchers: Billy Leo ✔ @humanshazam

Wow I'm super surprised it look this long for a song from one of Duran Duran's most disliked albums to appear. I know Electric Barberella is generally regarded highly, but I thought this one would be out a while ago.

that's it for today...next time we will bring out the neckware once again...it's the battle of the #50 ranks, who's 50 helped tank the song more...well surprise, surprise, somebody totally wrecked one of these tanks with a NUMBER 1 ranking (yes, the same song got ranked at both 1 & 50 by different posters & yes it has the highest standard deviation in the rankdown)...it's getting very interesting at this point!
any guesses as far as which songs make it to the Top 10?

40. Breath (41): this was a first listen to me, and I appreciated the extra Latin (Brazilian) flavor of this one, but it wasn't enough to escape my bottom 10. 39. Shame? (40): okay song but they have far better from the 80s 38. Serious (39): see above... and what is this third almost Perfect ranking in a row? Lol 37. Someone else (30): this is ranked where I thought it'd rank... I did like it a bit more with increased listens, and I decided to move it into my top 30 once I heard their version in Spanish (!!!). Nice effort! 36. Last night (19): so the fear I had shared earlier was realized- my favorite single they've released in the past 10+ years left too early. I felt this was a good effort to bring something with the EDM sound but also Simon's unique delivery and thus some Duran Duran personality. I like it more than Pressure Off. Why are people punishing the adventurous side of DD that much? 35. Anyone (28): the chorus is great but the verses lessen what could've been a much stronger single. Still a typical good DD 80s track which should've ranked a bit higher 34. Skin trade (14): huh???? !!! Solid sexy funky jazzy track from the 1980s. You guys are smoking! 33. None of the above (42): this one is closer to the generic tracks for me and not as memorable 32. All you need (48): freaking FINALLY! First listen and likely last listen. Didn't care for it one bit. Felt like this was a failed attempt at bringing back their sound and sounding more like a bad copy. Give me something fresh like Last Night any day over this land retread. 31. My own way (36): maybe if I had heard the previous version I could've liked it better. This sounded ok with the disco influence but felt it was similar but not as strong as other of their singles. Don't dislike it at all, just liked others much more :)

23. Too Much Information I don't recall giving too many spins to this ong, but I do remember it on MTV top 10 most requested.
22. Reach Up For The Sunshine The Astronaut album was pretty good. My favorite track off it is actually the title track. So catchy with the guitars. "Reach For The Sunrise is actually another favorite off that album. It just misses my top 20.
21. Out Of My Mind This song was actually not bad at all, but it never really clicked with me. The melodies in the verses far outweighs the rather drab sounding chorus.

30. Friends (20): another first listen, this one kept beating different rivals. I'm a fan of this one. Very DD and refreshing at the same time 29. What Happens Tomorrow (21): good first listen, as this brought back the classic British pop ballad style that fits them very well 28. All she wants is (25): fair rank 27. Sound of thunder (43): good to see one of my remaining bottom 10s out. Not an awful song but just felt reductive 26. Girl panic! (22): as opposed to All You Need Is Now, this was a blast and a good trip to the past but with 2000s flavors. Solid. 25. I don't want your love (12): ??!!! This was different, modern, but very DD too. Loved the extra guitar sound, the funky groove, background vocals, and how it goes from a calmer verse to a more cheerful chorus. Their last great song -until Ordinary World. Should have been top 20! 24. Lonely in your nightmare (49): freaking finally!!! This always felt meh, like an early draft version of Rio. Verses lack energy and chorus doesn't go anywhere higher. Underwhelming all around to me. 23. Too much info (38): I remember feeling utterly disappointed when this was released, coming off of the 1-2 quality punch of OW and CU. Never liked the chorus and the verses seemed messy and bleh. With time I've come to appreciate more its instrumentation though, which helped it escape my bottom 10. 22. Sunrise (32): I saw this as a good attempt to modernize the DD sound while remaining true to it. I wish the verses didn't feel like an afterthought the chorus is awesome and the percussion during the break is a delight. I wanted to rank it a bit higher but couldn't 21. Out of my mind (18): this has grown on me with time. It still owes a lot to Come Undone, but it also has its own peculiarities including strings and a darker vibe to differentiate it. Happy to see it almost top 20.

EXTRA Neurotic Outsiders - JerkAlbum: Neurotic Outsiders Released: 1996 In the 90s John would hangout at the Viper Room & there he met & became pals with members of Guns N Roses, Sex Pistols & other bands. Billy Idol & his longtime collaborator Steve Stevens formed a band with Duff MacKagan & Matt Sorum (both of GNR) called Neurotic Boy Outsiders. Billy & Steve eventually left & were replaced by our boy John along with Steve Jones (of Sex Pistols). Along the way they dropped the "boy" from the band name. They only put out the one album along w/ a 5-track EP (released only in Japan the following year). Both are currently out of print. John wrote or co-wrote 3 songs on the album: "Always Wrong", "Better Way" & "Feelings Are Good".

Neurotic Outsiders - Jerk Sounds too Nirvana for me to like, but I found the story behind the band very interesting. I would have loved to hear Billy Idol sing it.

EXTRA The Devils - Dark Circles
Album: Dark Circles Released: 2002
Meanwhile Nick ran into Stephen Duffy at a fashion show in 1999 & decided to record some of the unreleased Duran Duran material that they had created together (in the pre-Simon days). The 12 track Dark Circles album was the result.

Andy Taylor - Take It Easy Now this one I love. It was a completely different sound, but Andy was always a rocker, so it fit his style perfect.
The Devils - Dark Circles Never heard this song until tonight. Another interesting collaboration. What's interesting is that this sounds nothing like Duran Duran. Needless to say pre 1980 Duran Duran.

Damn, ranking this as DD's worst single seems a bit harsh.
Then again, I was (almost entirely) alone on "'All She Wants Is' Island", so what the hell do I know? :kii:

20. Careless Memories They are all going to be great songs from this point on. This one just misses my top 10. Love it tho.
19. Wild Boys More or less where I think it should rank here. One of the biggest arena Rock songs of the 80's.
