Alright y'all time to come over to my rankdown now! :kii: But not before the thank you post! Got to get that thank you post in there. And with that (obviously not being biased here) amazing and incredible top two, Book II of the Journey has been closed. As always, I had a blast revealing the songs, and I hope that all of you who followed along also had a blast. As for when Book III is coming...if I had to guess, it will come in between the 2009 Active rankdown and the 2017 Active rankdown, both of which I am hosting or will be hosting. So, sometime in December, we're going to complete the trilogy. And, of course, all of you who participated, took part, posted, what-have you...you're all part of my team.
Now, I normally don't do this, but I wanted to give you a sneak peak of what to look forward to in the next Journey, because, honestly, I'm more excited to see the reactions to the list of songs for that rankdown than I was for this one. There's one thing, in particular, that absolutely has to be addressed in Book III. I've mentioned it a couple of times, but it's something that we're going to dive deep into for the third installment of the Journey. We're about to go back to the days when MTV played music videos, when teenagers decided the music landscape just by making some requests for their favorite songs. That's right, with Book III, we're tackling the source of the beginnings of my growth as a rock music fan, and, really, the moment where my taste in music changed forever:
Yeah, I think that'll be a juicy appetizer for what's to come...

10. Vampire Weekend - StepNow I remember. How did this song make the top 10 here? I didn't know it had so many fans. For me, it's an alright song. THis band in general has only had one big hit on my charts. That would be "Diane Young". 9. Bee Gees - How Deep Is Your LoveLove seeing the BeeGees get some top 10 action. Even more so with this epic ballad. 8. Tame Impala - Let It HappenHere is another one I had never heard before. I didn't really feel this one where it counts. I would have chosen "Elephant" as their massive hit or "Feels Like We Only Go Backwards" 7. Led Zeppelin - KashmirI also thought this had a good chance at winning. Three members put this song in the bottom feeders category. What's the world coming to? 6. Beatles - Day In The LifeThis sounds like it would be right up Daryl the Beryl alley? Anyway, Beatles are classics. This one just missed my top 10, but if I had seen about 15 other songs from this band, on this list, I might have had a different #1 song? 5. Ladytron - Destroy Everything You TouchThis was a nice first listen. It sorta stays in the same melody all throughout verses and chorus, and that isn't a high point when I listen to synthpop. It's still a good song, I just didn't think it held up against all the other classics on this list. Particularly the Metal classics. 4. Toto - AfricaOf course I was going to put this 80's classic in my top 10. I would have done the same with "Rossana", "Hold The Line" and maybe even "Stranger In Town" 3. The Human League - Don't You Want MeNOOOOOOO! I wanted this to win next to Iron Madien. FUCK FUCK FUCK. You realize this is the best Synthpop song ever. Not too familiar with willapted33 tastes in music, but damn Red you did synthpop dirty here. 2. Pearl Jam - BlackPearl jam is alright as a band. I don;t care for the song "Black" at all. It bugs me that it never really stays in the heavy mood. I would have liked it a lot better if it had? There I said it. Now if this had been "The Fixer", my list would have told a different story. 1. Muse - StarlightHow much payola was dished out here? LOL! It is a great song. I couldn't keep it out of my top 10 either. I just really wanted a surprising 80's classic to win.

Well I'm glad I played along. It felt great to rank a great list of songs. Red did a great job on everything, except flaking on The Human League, but I still had a ball. Looking forward to part 3 of the journey. maybe we can actually get a Journey classic too.

Was hoping Let it Happen could make top 5, but I'm still happy with the winner

Even if I participated I probably couldn't have gotten Black to #1. Over the 400 point threshold, sure, but I wouldn't have tanked Starlight. Black truly is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard
But I'm absolutely SHOOK that Africa didn't win.

3. The Human League - Don't You Want MeNOOOOOOO! I wanted this to win next to Iron Madien. f**k f**k f**k. You realize this is the best Synthpop song ever. Not too familiar with willapted33 tastes in music, but damn Red you did synthpop dirty here. Also, a reminder: I love every song here. "Dreams", as was the case with "Fancy" in the first Journey, is a 4.5/5 or ****1/2 song. Why do you think I chose "Don't You Want Me" for the pop tournament?

Even though I had "Black" as my #1, I'm perfectly fine with "Starlight" winning this one. I was pleased to see both "Africa" and "Don't You Want Me" perform so well in this Rankdown. I'm also happy that at least one of the metal songs was able to finish in the top 15. I'll be looking forward to Book III of the trilogy! :)
