Last one for tonight. This has the same number of points as #21. This was brought to my attention by one of my high school and college classmates who was into all sorts of weird shit (she's the one I mentioned in RT years back who walked in on her mother dancing naked while smoking a cigarette on her bed). She was horrified by how hypersexual and weird everything about this song was from the lyrics to the video and that "choreography." I was disturbed by it too but the song is just so awful in a funny uh-oh kind of way that you can't ignore it. The Donna Summer "Bad Girls" interpolation was so random. I died inside when Jenna performed this on a morning TV show with that same ridiculous choreography from the video. Jenna made a video explaining how unhappy she was with doing that song[/a] and coming to terms with how exploitative and inappropriate it was. #20 Jenna Rose - OMGPoints: 125 Standard Deviation: 4.22 Average Ranking: 17.857 Rankings: JOJO SIWA DERANGEMENT SYNDROME 11 Mirago 14 @walker9 18 Juanca 18 jtd Thee Stallion 19 crazyb 22 surfy 23

Swagger Jagger was simply annoying. I didn’t know her story so when I heard this and couple others from her debut album I thought she was just another pop tart with little talent—and then I was pleasantly surprised at Siren.
I tried to give Friday the benefit of the doubt, but no, it still sounds bad lol
Cheeky was at least a bit catchy despite its level of cringiness
I was never a big fan of Rico Suave and felt a bit disappointed that it was one of the few Latino-based songs to be a success in the 80s. I have if a few bonus points for being a Latino song though, plus at least this is not annoying or too cringy 😛
OMG was a first listen and I thought it was catchy. I didn’t notice the awkwardness. Is it because of her age? Sex Metal Barbie was another first listen, and I was actually impressed with the whole thing. The visuals, the dance and rock elements and the attitude. Interesting discovery.

Cher Lloyd's 2nd album was so much better than her first. "Want U Back" was her only major hit here in the U.S. When I was thinking of other songs in the other international languages, most of the other ones thst crossed over were not bad or awful. I wanted to include those Valaria Vix or El Chocho Loco songs but those would fit into my sexy sexy category. Or the over the top fun ones. "Macarena" could have fit too.

This is an important announcement.
Due to unforeseen and unexpected circumstances, there will be no reveals tonight as I am far too pissed off right now to do them properly.
I apologize for any inconveniences this temporary delay will cause.

I didn't notice this rankdown until tonight, so obviously I can't directly participate, but this is a short rankdown, so I figured I'd take a stab at it, especially since I like the top half (including "Harlem Shake").
Anyway, here's my list that I'll fill in as it's revealed:
1. 2. 3. 4. "Rico Suave" - Gerardo 5. "Sex Metal Barbie" - In This Moment 6. 7. 8. 9. 10.
11. "Hello Kitty" - Avril Lavigne 12. 13. "Harlem Shake" - Baauer 14. "I Want To Live" - Naomi Campbell 15. 16. "The Cha Cha" - Blu Cantrell 17. 18. 19. "Swagger Jagger" - Cher Lloyd 20.
21. "Friday" - Rebecca Black 22. "The Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)" - The Cheeky Girls 23. 24. 25. "OMG" - Jenna Rose
For what it's worth, the music video for "OMG" was pretty creepy. There's no reason for girls on the threshold of puberty to be dancing or dressing like that.

For what it's worth, the music video for "OMG" was pretty creepy. There's no reason for girls on the threshold of puberty to be dancing or dressing like that. Jenna has posted a video in which she discusses what happened with regards to that particular song and how she also had felt uncomfortable with much of it as did her family who was working with her around that time, however she says that the management and the director convinced her and the family that it would turn out differently so she went along with it and the end result was the video that is posted on YouTube. Also they told her that the scenes where she is wearing her ballet costume would have her dancing in the sky or something and it would be digitally altered later however it ends up looking more like a Lolita type of thing. The weirdest part of it was that they told her that this song was originally intended for Britney Spears. I think that if an older artist recorded the song and released it with the same exact video treatment, it may not have seemed so creepy but the combination of all these elements just does not feel right. It was also odd when she explained that the director and her managers couldn't quite give her and her family an acceptable explanation of what the whole "teen boom boom doll" concept was.

It was also odd when she explained that the director and her managers couldn't quite give her and her family an acceptable explanation of what the whole "teen boom boom doll" concept was. To be honest, I knew that the management was responsible for this. For at least a few years now, I've had a sickening sense that a lot (most?) of children's entertainment these days is managed, directed and produced by perverts who have no business working with children, and who'd be mercilessly driven out of any normal society. Cynical as this might sound, I'm pleasantly surprised that the parents were not OK with the final product, and that the girl herself subconsciously knew that something was wrong. I think a lot of parents of child stars are guilty of either enabling and encouraging the exploitation of their children with dollar signs in their eyes, or looking the other way and deluding themselves into believing that their children are not being exploited. Likewise, I also think a lot of child entertainers suppress their discomfort with the management, which later manifests itself in emotional and psychological disorders. It's all a rotten business, and I'm actually beginning to think we might actually find out just how rotten in the near future.

This was a major departure from the mild mannered Pop she had been releasing. The brazen song was ridiculed for its bizarre lyrics which could potentially be interpreted as being about having the urge to go fuck or you fucked and you have an STD now. Vitamin C did awkward promotional appearances performing this song on many morning talk shows and even sketch comedy shows like All That and MadTV. The song end up performing poorly everywhere. #14 Vitamin C - The Itch www.youtube.com/watch?v=2R9MbivccI0Rankings: Mirago 4 JOJO SIWA DERANGEMENT SYNDROME 8 @walker9 12 jtd Thee Stallion 13 surfy 15 crazyb 16 Juanca 19 Points: 87 Standard Deviation: 5.06 Average Ranking: 12.42 Following Along: woods

The song, which was written in only a few minutes, rose from obscurity to popularity after it was circulated around the Internet and was featured on The Howard Stern Show. It became the theme song for the Jay and Silent Bob movie. #13 Afroman - Because I Got HighRankings: jtd Thee Stallion 1 @walker9 8 surfy 9 crazyb 10 Juanca 15 JOJO SIWA DERANGEMENT SYNDROME 18 Mirago 18 Points: 79 Standard Deviation: 6.156 Average Ranking: 11.2857 Following along: woods

Honestly thought Because I Got High was gonna be Bottom 5 so I’m satisfied with its placement.

Had I done this, Afroman would have been dead last. IDK where Heidi would have ended up, but she amazingly does have a couple of decent tracks that play to whatever little strengths her voice has (lol). Nicki would have been quite high up though.
Random factoid, but 'The Itch' by Vitamin C was top 10 in Australia for whatever reason.

'More Is More' had some good remixes in general, both from Ralphi and from Dave Aude. DJ Jeff Barringer' also remixed one of her songs ('Turn It Up' I think? Nope it's called 'Turn Ya Head').

In this reveal, Hello Kitty is the song I ranked much higher than its placement here. It was a guilty pleasure to me. Catchy, dancey, so different for Avril, that I kinda liked it :) Sugar walls entered my personal chart back in 1985 (when I didn’t have any clue about its meaning ) and reached top 10. Regarding the OMG discussion, I guess that I’m a bit too accustomed to young girls dancing to reggaeton in Latin America, that such video felt like nothing... for example in comparison to stuff like this: youtu.be/x_XnLG7xuUw

Regarding the OMG discussion, I guess that I’m a bit too accustomed to young girls dancing to reggaeton in Latin America, that such video felt like nothing... for example in comparison to stuff like this: youtu.be/x_XnLG7xuUwI have a weakness for dubstep, which is why I liked "Hello Kitty," because it has some dubstep elements to it. From the same album, have you heard her duet with Chad Kroeger, "Let Me Go"? I liked some of Avril Lavigne's songs from the 2000s, but "Let Me Go" absolutely blew me away when I heard it. I normally don't use the word "beautiful" to describe pop music, but that's exactly what that song is to me. I loved it the moment I heard it, and it sounds infinitely better than any of the pop music of the last couple of years. Check it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=78Z6Tyb0cMoAs for the reggaeton and the suggestive dancing, maybe I'm overestimating the age of the girls in that video, but they all looked to be at least 18 to me. On the other hand, Jenna Rose was 12 when that "OMG" video was made, and all the other girls in that video appeared to be about the same age. There's a big difference between 12 and 18. Anyway, here's my updated list: 1. 2. 3. "Because I Got High" - Afroman 4. "Rico Suave" - Gerardo 5. "Sex Metal Barbie" - In This Moment 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. "Hello Kitty" - Avril Lavigne 12. 13. "Harlem Shake" - Baauer 14. "I Want To Live" - Naomi Campbell 15. "I'll Do It" - Heidi Montag 16. "The Cha Cha" - Blu Cantrell 17. 18. "Sugar Walls" - Sheena Easton 19. "Swagger Jagger" - Cher Lloyd 20. "The Itch" - Vitamin C 21. "Friday" - Rebecca Black 22. "The Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum)" - The Cheeky Girls 23. 24. "Anaconda" - Nicki Minaj 25. "OMG" - Jenna Rose What can I say? I just think a song with lyrics about eating ass ("Anaconda") is kind of tacky. Suggestive lyrics are fine, but they're exactly that: suggestive. They're not blatant and nasty. There's a fine line between sexy and sleazy.

We enter the top 10 with the hypersexual midtempo. Utada had only occasionally veered into this territory with suggestive songs like "Devil Inside" and "Tippy Toe". Some critics felt this was too trashy and desperate for someone of her caliber. The song did chart in the U.S. on the Club Play chart. It peaked at #16. The full and mixshow length Razor N Guido remixes incorporated an additional spoken word section after the bridge which leads to orgasmic moans and a major buildup/breakdown. Some longtime fans of Utada say that those additional parts are not Utada and are either specially recorded for the remixes or they are from a porno. Some of the softer moans heard in the Mike Rizzo versions definitely sound like Utada so I guess some fans are embarrassed and ashamed that she made such sounds on one of her songs. :sip2: Tracks 6 and 9 (oh, how appropriate) are the two versions with all the moaning #10 Utada Hikaru - Dirty DesireRankings: JOJO SIWA DERANGEMENT SYNDROME 2 surfy 4 Juanca 5 Mirago 10 @walker9 10 crazyb 20 jtd Thee Stallion 23 Points: 74 Standard Deviation: 8.079 Average: 10.571 Following Along: woods

Kowboi, yes, I liked Let Me Go. Overall I felt it was an album that deserved much better success than it received. I look forward to her new album.
Utada’s Dirty Desire was a pretty cool discovery. I didn’t pay much attention to the lyrics, but the song melody, structure and production is pretty good.
