This rankdown celebrates one of the most successful country groups of all-time, achieving a total of 32 #1 US singles, while holding the record for the longest run of consecutive #1's at 21. They've also achieved the top five numerous times throughout the 90's after the lead single from Just Us, "Tar Top", broke their #1 streak by peaking at #7 in 1987. Outside of radio, almost all of their studio albums with RCA were certified at least platinum or multi-platinum; their highest-certified album was Mountain Music at 5x-platinum while their next to last album Twentieth Century is only cerified gold and the final album with RCA When It All Goes South wasn't certified at all. They've also collaborated with Lionel Richie, K.T. Oslin, Brad Paisley, and the Judds for multiple projects. They've also released Christmas albums and gospel album under RCA. Top 40 Singles: I Wanna Come Over My Home’s in Alabama Tennessee River Why Lady Why Old Flame Feels So Right Love in the First Degree Mountain Music Take Me Down Close Enough to Perfect Dixieland Delight The Closer You Get Lady Down on Love Roll On (Eighteen Wheeler) When We Make Love If You’re Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band) (There’s A) Fire in the Night There’s No Way Forty Hour Week (For a Livin’) Can’t Keep a Good Man Down Touch Me When We’re Dancing You’ve Got The Touch She & I Tar Top Face to Face Fallin’ Again Song of the South If I Had You High Cotton Southern Star Pass It On Down Jukebox in My Mind Forever’s As Far As I’ll Go Down Home Here We Are Then Again Born Country Take a Little Trip I’m in a Hurry (and Don’t Know Why) Once Upon a Lifetime Hometown Honeymoon Reckless T.L.C. A.S.A.P. The Cheap Seats We Can't Love Like This Anymore Give Me One More Shot She Ain’t Your Ordinary Girl In Pictures It Works Say I The Maker Said Take Her Sad Lookin’ Moon Dancin’, Shaggin’ on the Boulevard Of Course I’m Alright She’s Got That Look in Her Eyes How Do You Fall in Love Keepin’ Up God Must Have Spent a Little More Time on You Small Stuff When It All Goes South Other Songs: Deep River Woman (with Lionel Richie) Old Alabama (with Brad Paisley) Christmas in Dixie Angels Among Us Five O'Clock 500 *There are duplicates in this playlist to distinguish from single/radio edits and album versions. Also, the song titles from the album Just Us are not correct: "(I Wish It Could Always Be) '55" is actually "Tar Top", "I Saw the Time" is actually "Face to Face", and "You're My Explanation for Living" is actually the full album version of "Fallin' Again".
For those of you who are familiar with rankdowns, you know what to do. If not, rank these 65 songs in order from your favorite to your least favorite and PM them to me. Lists are due on December 29 January 16. Count me in! Alabama has long been my favorite group and have seen them live a few times, including one of the shows on their farewell tour.

Yikes. I know like 6 of these songs just based on the titles. I’ll definitely try and participate, but lack of knowledge of Alabama music may prevent me from doing so. I’m at least gonna educate myself on their discography though 😉

I will definitely be doing this one! Fairly certain I know my top 5 but will relisten to everything before I commit to anything!

mamasaid is sooooooo gonna do this! So am I! Spread sheet set up and ready to ROCK.... I've been following Alabama since the beginning...my kids know no life without them...and thought for years they (along with George Strait) were some sort of distant cousin who popped into town every other year or so... They are laid back, fan friendly & killer fun. For me their music is timeless & comfortable. I'm seeing them Friday night....we shall see what's my favorite tune then... Definitive Alabama is the "The Closer You Get" albumn...the most fun is "Dancin' on the Boulevard"

I will definitely do this. I've heard about 80% of these, but I'll have to reacquaint myself with quite a few.

Is everyone okay with the deadline? It may seem pretty soon, but I think it should be plenty of time to get familiar with the material. Their lesser known hits (that missed the top 10) may be a little bit harder, but I included them because they were also bigger hits in other areas (e.g. "She's Got That Look in Her Eyes" went top 10 in Canada while missing the top 20 in the US). Oh, and before you put Lionel Richie and Brad Paisley in your bottom five, please listen to each of those. The harmonies in the former are gorgeous, and since the group got credit in "Old Alabama", I think it would've been utterly silly not to include that here (you can ignore the last 30 seconds of it or so, which serves as a segue into "This is Country Music"). I'm not expecting as many participants in this one, but I hope the turnout's pretty healthy. Does anyone else (that hasn't agreed already) plan to participate, even if I'll get the lists as late Christmas presents?

Can't keep me away from this one....I've been sorting & organizing...tough for me as I almost overly familiar with their songs. Brad made 'pigs fly' getting Alabama on board with "Old Alabama"...running joke among artists who where teenagers in the 80s & 90s and how many spent some time in the back seat with Alabama tunes on the radio... Lionel Richie is a duet genius....listen to his album "Tuskeegee" for a sample...my two favorites are "Easy" with Willie Nelson and "Stuck on You" with Darius Rucker...

Just noticed "We Can't Love Like This Anymore" is omitted from the list under Top 40 Singles, however is included in the Spotify playlist as the #57 song. I think it just got overlooked

I think it just got overlooked Plus I just counted 64 songs in the list, so that means one must be missing! But there are also 75 songs in the Spotify playlist, so I don't even know what is happening. Edit: Oh, I just read the tidbit about duplicates being included because of different album/single versions. Got it!

Does anyone else (that hasn't agreed already) plan to participate, even if I'll get the lists as late Christmas presents? I'll plan to participate. I'm not a huge Alabama fan, but I do ALL of the country rankdowns! This will be a good chance to become more familiar with Alabama at least. Mine won't come for awhile though, because this is probably 6th or 7th in my priority list: -Country Christmas (about 25% finished) -Kelsea Ballerini (about 50% finished) -2006 Country (about 50% finished; due after yours, but I'll probably finish it first since I'm already so far along.) -2017 Country -Reba McEntire (Both of these will be due after yours, but I will have to do them as soon as the threads are open in early December since I am the host.) -Alabama (Not started yet) -Cynthia's 12 Days of Christmas (Will be worked on throughout December. I hope to do all 12 days!)

Mine won't come for awhile though, because this is probably 6th or 7th in my priority list: I think I’ll probably have this one knocked out (including album tracks!) before I have my George Strait rankdown finished lol. I’m famailiar with about 98% of their discography so this one is pretty easy to do. I have more of an attachment to a lot of George’s songs so it’s harder to rank them.

Saw Alabama last night...it was "Alabama Light" as Jeff Cook wasn't there..Holes in the harmonies you could drive a truck through if you know what you're listening to. Kimo Forrest did a great job on the lead guitar and Jason (I can never remember his last name ) does a spectacular fiddle. Chip Davis was that 3rd voice, and he's pretty wonderful, but he isn't Jeff. Still great, however....

Alright guys, I haven't received any other lists yet, but I really hope that you consider doing this, for those of you that haven't confirmed that you'll be sending in a list. If you wanna do album tracks as well, go for it. Expecting lists from: Timcastleoblivion26LBTrocksmamasaidsomeguygardyfanbboat11 Possibly might get a list from: zaclord 🌈.indulgecountryAnyone else feel like chippin' in? Don't really feel like tagging 1590780451962586718960 other people. Spread the word if you can!

I might, but I don't know the vast majority of these and will need some time to listen to this (plus the George Strait rankdown, plus the Country Christmas rankdown) so its gonna take some time for me to do this one

I'll think about extending the deadline to the middle of January (the 12th more than likely), which is around the time I plan on opening my first year-end rankdown.

What a perfect time for an Alabama Rankdown since I just bought tickets to see them live next month! Eddie Montgomery is opening.

Yay for you...I don't see them again until the end of February...the new back up boys are very good but when Jeff isn't there you can drive a truck through the harmonies...but still a very fun show

Disappointing to see there isn’t more passion for this. Alabama has a great discography and their songs are easy listens. Hope more of y’all join in!
