She's back at posting on instagram like a (semi) normal person and has just announced tour openers with a video. I don't know, I just feel like the old Taylor is slowly coming back. Maybe she will also return with the iconic performances

They will probably chop off the voice coder at the beginning of the song for the radio edit.

I still think this is going to flop, all her goodwill with radio is gone now. It's a good song but it's too late now. I will gladly apologize if I'm wrong. I also hope I'm wrong, I love the album and think it's underrated. I like every song on the album, it's a solid release. I hope this can do well.

What exactly constitutes a flop for her? Her last two singles didn't hold a candle to the success she had singles-wise on 1989 but both had respectable/perfectly fine peaks on the Hot 100 and on CHR. I see this or really anything she releases at this point going at least Top 20 on CHR and Top 40 on the Hot 100 because it's Taylor Swift, and I think that would be a solid showing. Anything better would just be icing.

IMO She hasn't had one genuine "flop" this era, just a slew of under-performers. I feel like peaking in the 40/50s on the Hot 100 and 20/30s on pop radio would be "flop" territory for her. She still has time to aquire one this era tho. lol

He's done all of her videos since Blank Space, so it's not like it's shocking. Nor should it really be telling of what to expect since the quality is wildly inconsistent. We could see yet another "well, it at least looks beautiful" video like RFI and EG or we could end up with something like BS or LWYMMD.

Simple could work for this, although I hope it’s not since, like stated above, we have gotten that twice already this era.

The fact it spent merely what....a day or two in the Top 10 of Pop and only hit the Top 20 on the Hot 100? That’s a total big fat flop, lol, sorry. Any major pop girl would be buried alive with those stats and the amount of hype going into it, so it’s not Taylor-specific, per se.

I think a flop for her is something like barely breaking top 30/25 on the Hot 100. For an average artist, it's not bad but for someone like Taylor, I would say it would be a flop. Also, not getting certified would be a flop for Taylor, everything she puts out gets certified at least Gold. If Delicate fails to certify, I would consider that a flop as well.
I personally don't see this doing well. Not because it's a bad song at all but because I feel like radio wants to move past her for a while again and the public isn't feeling her either right now. She's lost all the momentum from 1989. Unless the video is really out of this world amazing and she manages a lot of streams, I don't see it happening anymore for this era.
I really think based on her age, how long she's been in the pop game, and the downturn during this era, she will have a hard time being the it girl again. She'll always sell a ton of albums but I think her days of radio dominance are coming to a close. It happens to everyone eventually who is at the top.

No need for apologies. :) Fan expectation doesn't determine "flop" status. Peaks and overall performance do. Top 20 on the Hot 100 and top 10 on Chr/pop wouldn't be a "flop" for any artist at any status in my eyes. Idc if it followed a string of 6 massive #1s. Failed to meet expectations? Sure. Hence, an under-performer. You wanna see Taylor and flop in the same sentence look no further than a song like "The Story Of Us" (40s Hot 100 peak and 20s pop peak). How many traditional singles can you name that hit top 10 on the artist's core format and top 20 of the Hot 100 of which the general consensus about is "flop"?

Good choice. Let's just hope the video is more Wildest Dreams and less Ready For It

For example: - Feels - Chained To The Rhythm Ah, of course I could expect a quote from you as usual and what an expansive list! I haven't seen "Chained To The Rhythym" being labeled as a flop by majority. I mostly find people reference its performance as maybe underwhelming or middling, when compared to her prior leads, but haven't seen it largely branded with that title. I certainly don't see it as such with those peaks/stats and I am not convinced that is the general consensus either. Care to expand the list beyond Katy Perry there dear? ;)

My favorite tweet of 2018:
"the delicate mv: this ain’t for the best *bank explodes* my reputations never been worse *high speed car chase with taylor in a luxury vehicle* so he must like me for me *taylor falling 30000 feet from a building and landing gracefully in a well lit laboratory, clear use of cgi*"

Eh, I'm honestly not a fan of this track. It's pretty lifeless and there's not really any hook to grab onto, but that's the kind of songs that are huge right now. I think Dancing With Our Hands Tied or Getaway Car would of been better choices as they are a lot catchier.

Anyway, I think that might be too energetic and upbeat (*terrible description*) for this song. I am hoping for something in the vein of Style (but not as boring) and Wildest Dreams (but not as expensive)

??? People don’t call Chained to the Rhythm a flop (Nor Feels). Just underwhelming for a lead single and didn’t really carry forward any momentum.
The Katy stans trying desperately to tie Taylor’s performance with Reputation to any of the depths experienced by Witness is so tired and obvious at this point.
Like, Taylor underperforming is #10 on CHR. Swish Swish could only dream.
