Next up is an artist that I have grown to love so much I follow her on facebook and am sad that she isn't releasing solo music anymore but wish her all the success that she can find! Rebecca Lynn Howard hit the Country music scene in 1999 with her debut single "When My Dreams Come True". I never actually heard that song as it only peaked at #65 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. While I did hear her second single "Out Here In The Water" I was not all that impressed and it came and went just as fast. It wasn't until 2002 when her song "Forgive" came out that I became a fan. That song blew me away and I was even impressed when I learned that Faith Hill had actually had "Forgive" on hold to record for her Cry album but Rebecca decided she wanted to keep it for herself and it gave her the only Top 40 hit of her career which peaked at #12! I bought the album as soon as I could as this song was incredible. The other songs on that album that are favorites are "It Didn't Look Like Alcohol", "It's My Job to Fall", "Memorized", and "Pink Flamingo Kind of Love". I loved that album so much I picked up her first album which is when I discovered "I Don't Paint Myself Into Corners", "Melancholy Blue", "You're Not A Memory Yet", and "Believe It Or Not". The first two songs I mentioned from her first album "I Don't Paint Myself Into Corners" and "Melancholy Blue" were both later recorded by Trisha Yearwood for her Inside Out album. Another song she wrote that I absolutely love was recorded by Martina McBride called "Whatcha Gonna Do"! Choosing a song for this was difficult because I liked all those songs I just mentioned plus "What A Shame", "I Need A Vacation", "That's Why I Hate Pontiacs", "The Life Of A Dollar", and "Better Someday". I chose to go with "Memorized" because as it wasn't a single it won't be recognizable like some of her other songs but it shows off the power of her voice and the way she is able to make you feel what she is singing. Another '90's artist is next. Trisha Yearwood's song "She's In Love With The Boy" I would say is another song that I knew before I became a Country music fan and I have always liked this song. The only other song I knew of hers before becoming a Country fan is the incredible "Walkaway Joe". There are so many songs that I love from her and her Thinkin' About You about was the second Female Country singers album that I ever got. Loved the album and grew to like her more and more. One of my favorite songs she has ever done is the ballad "I Would've Loved You Anyway" so I decided I would choose that song for this. She sounds incredible on this song and it still remains one of my favorites from her! Unfortunately for her this was also her final Top 10 hit in 2001 when it peaked at #4. Anita Cochran only had 1 hit single in her entire career and that was the duet with Steve Wariner "What If I Said" that hit #1 in 1998. However she has released 2 albums and an EP and they are all good. Songs like "Daddy Can You See Me", "For Crying Out Loud", and "(I Wanna Hear) A Cheatin' Song" with Conway Twitty are all great songs. For this I chose "For Crying Out Loud" because it is easily my favorite song from her. Tags: (will add anyone who wants to be tagged) bboat11 someguy zaclord 🌈 Cody Wants Out... .indulgecountry

Miranda Lambert is someone I've been a fan of since she first auditioned on Nashville Star. Her song "Greyhound Bound for Nowhere" was her original song she sang during her run to 3rd place on the first season of Nashville Star. I jumped at getting her first album Kerosene when it came out even though I wasn't the biggest fan of "Me and Charlie Talking", which I liked but didn't love. Thankfully I love most of the album a lot more than that one song. Ultimately I decided to choose "Dead Flowers" for this for two reasons. I had thought about doing an album track but I have a lot of little known songs already and figured a more known song from her could help people and I chose this one because this remains one of my all time favorites for her. It was my #3 song on the Miranda Lambert singles Rankdown behind "Over You" and "The House That Built Me". I feel like both of those songs have been featured a few times so I chose this song because it isn't one of her more remembered songs because it was not a hit but it is a great song. When I first did this I really wanted Lauren Alaina to be included. On Spotify my Top 5 most played songs for the year include 4 of her songs and she is my 2nd most played artist for the year behind Linkin Park! Choosing a song was hard because my favorite song from her is her current single and I made the rule of no current singles. As I've gone with revealing some of the songs I've thought about it more and more and decided to scrap that rule because there are 3 songs that are current that need to be included so here I am including "Doin' Fine". When I saw Lauren live this past March she introduced this song with the story about how her father finally got sober and her mom started dating a family friend. Then she started singing and the first line got everyone laughing. It was funny how she presented it. Anyways I made sure to buy the album at the show and got it signed by her, she is super nice and deserves way more success than she has gotten so far and I'm really hoping this song is not done yet because it needs to become a hit at radio!!! Wynonna is an artist that I have been a huge fan of since I was young as a member of The Judds. Her solo stuff is incredible and I prefer it personally. Choosing what song to put into this was difficult but ultimately I decided that "No One Else On Earth" is classic Wynonna and I think it is the perfect song to include! That's funny; I'm the opposite. I prefer Wynonna with her mom than by herself; that is, I like more songs from the Judds than I do with Wynonna.

Their version of "Silver Bells" is my favorite version of that song (Martina's is a close 2nd but still doesn't top The Judds). I just love Wynonna's voice a lot and I feel like it comes out better when she is singing by herself than with her mother. She does oversing sometimes but when she doesn't she is excellent.

Lari White doesn't have many songs that I love but I really love those songs. "That's My Baby", "Now I Know", "That's How You Know (When You're in Love)", and "Stepping Stone". I chose "Now I Know" because that is easily my favorite song from her with "That's My Baby" being my 2nd favorite. Up next is an artist whose voice is a favorite even if I'm not a huge fan of a lot of her music. Lorrie Morgan's voice is just incredible but the songs she has recorded tend to get forgotten to me. Songs like "Good As I Was To You", "Except For Monday", "Something In Red", "Five Minutes", "What Part of No" and "Watch Me" are among my favorites from her and choosing one to be a part of this rankdown was not easy. Since "Good As I Was To You" was in 1997 Country Songs I decided to not go with that one. Narrowed it down to "Five Minutes", "Except For Monday", and "What Part of No" but it was really hard to choose which one would be best for this but ultimately went with "What Part of No" because it is a great performance from her. "Two Sparrows in a Hurricane" is what got me more interested in Tanya Tucker! And I do not regret checking out her stuff nor claiming dibs on doing a Tanya rankdown. That'll more than likely be in my top three of hers and I love it when it comes on the radio! I first discovered Tanya an era just before that with her What Do I Do with Me album. My mom had it on cassette tape and I remember her playing this quite a bit back then. This album also contains the song "Everything That You Want" which Reba covered on her Read My Mind album. I have a funny anecdote to share about Tanya, but is also includes George Strait so I'm going to share it in the George Strait rankdown lol.

Up next is an artist that most here have never heard of. Alecia Elliott came out in early 2000 with a song called "I'm Diggin' It". It was like the Country Britney Spears "...Baby One More Time" but it did not succeed at all. I liked her voice though and wanted to hear more so I bought her album with allowance and fell in love with it. She covered the song "Some Say I'm Running" that Martina McBride sang on her Evolution album and does a decent job (not better than Martina but still good). "Every Heart", "That's The Only Way", "Stay Awhile", "I'm Waiting For You" and "Ain't No Ordinary Love" were some of my favorites but there were 2 songs I loved the most. "I Don't Understand" and "Some People Fall, Some People Fly" were my two favorites and I went back and forth on which song to include but ultimately I felt that the lead off song on the album "Some People Fall, Some People Fly" would be the better choice and so here it is. Up next is an artist I'm seeing live in February! I like Sara Evans voice and am not gonna lie I've never loved it but she has many songs that I absolutely love and I'm excited to see her live in a couple months and I got 3rd row seats so I'll be right up by the stage!!! Anyway, choosing a song was not easy because there are many songs of hers that deserve to be included. One of my favorites is "A Real Fine Place To Start" but since that already won a rankdown I'm not gonna include it here. Decided to include a song that is more among her forgotten singles that I really love. Will say I almost changed this to "No Place That Far" but decided since that will be in the 1999 Country Hits Rankdown I'm doing next year I'll save that song for then and include "Saints & Angels" which I have always loved and remember being sad when it failed to make it to the Top 10 (only single from her Born To Fly album to miss the Top 10!). Jamie O'Neal needs to be a part of this. Ever since "There Is No Arizona" I have really enjoyed her music a lot. Choosing a song for this was not easy. I kept switching songs because I wanted an album track but then I wanted one of her hits. I chose "God Don't Make Mistakes" because I really enjoy that one a lot and it should have been a hit for her. She sounds great on it Tags: (will add anyone who wants to be tagged) bboat11 someguy zaclord 🌈 Cody Wants Out... .indulgecountry Tim

up next is LeAnn Rimes. Choosing a song for her is not easy. Went back and forth but ultimately I decided to choose "Can't Fight The Moonlight" because I love the song and while it is not my favorite from her it is one I haven't heard much of in a long time and I don't recall seeing it in a rankdown yet. Dear God, please tell me this is the original version and not the dance mix of CFTM...the beat in the dance mix ruins the song for me. P.S. I also remember Coyote Ugly.

Omg I love "God Don't Make Mistakes." I think that might very well be my favorite Jamie O'Neal song. Her late career flops in that, "Soldier Comin' Home," and "Like a Woman" were some of her best material imo and it's absolutely TRAGIC none of them did well. Glad to see I'm not the only one who loved it. Her vocal on it was incredible and the chorus melody is fantastic.

There are only 2 groups a part of this list and I'm gonna reveal both back to back today! SHeDAISY definitely deserves to be on this list because of how much I love their voices. There is not a song from them I don't like (sure some I like more than others but none I dislike). Choosing a song for this wasn't as hard as some others but not easy either. Went with "Still Holding Out For You" because it is one of their more forgotten singles that I have always really liked. The Kinleys were a duo that grew on me over time. When "Please" was first on the radio is when I first got into Country music and I wasn't a fan. Over time though it has become a favorite and I wish they had more success because they were good. I wanted to choose "Please" because it is easily my favorite song of theirs but ultimately decided I wouldn't choose that one because it was already in a rankdown (and did decently well if I'm remembering correctly). This goes for the other singles for their first album ("Just Between You and Me", "You Make It Seem So Easy", and "Dance In The Boat". As much as I loved the singles from their first album the other songs on it never stood out to me so I moved onto their second album. I've made mention of songs from the Touched By An Angel soundtrack in the past (Martina's "Little Bits Of Lightning", Faith Hill's "When You Cry"), but only one song from that soundtrack was ever released as a single and (spoiler alert) it is a part of the 1999 Country Songs rankdown so it is not going to be a part of this one. That leaves 3 songs: "She Ain't The Girl For You", "I'm In", or "I Will". The first two songs are from their second album while the 3rd is from their self released album All In The Family. Since the two from their second album rank up there with "Please" and "Somebody's Out There Watching" as my top favorites from them I wanted to include one of them. Most people know the song "I'm In" from the inferior version by Keith Urban but The Kinleys did a much better version of it imo but since the song itself is a little more known I decided to choose "She Ain't The Girl For You" as that song should have been a hit for them.
