Thrilled Anywhere is finally out. But pissed How Long is the highest pop song. Gross.
Rooting for Pool and The Louvre. Fun fact: while waiting for my first interview yesterday, the secretary's personal phone rang and her ringtone was the intro bell tones from Pool.

But pissed How Long is the highest pop song. Gross. Right on cue. And with that, this is our first #1 song out.

I was rooting for Charlie. I love "How Long".
The Top 10 is really good, but two songs have overstayed. "How Long" and "Drew Barrymore" would have been very suitable replacements.

Not great, not bad. I really wish nothing below my top 25 had made the top ten, though.

Slaves should have been out in the bottom 5, WHY IS IT HERE STILL Because it's good!! Seriously, though, having missed the original seed it was in and this being my first time hearing it, it was one of the best discoveries for me for this RD. It reminds me of that phase of music where punk/post-grunge songs crossed over a la Fall Out Boy, Papa Roach, Paramore, etc. Specifically, the Slaves track reminded me a lot of "Face Down" by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, which I adore.

I very nearly tanked this on principle since Disco did not participate in A S I N G L E O N E of these games. Like... seriously. Why submit songs only to not f**king play? :sip2: So you're the individual someone was claiming on the Pulse Confessional that ruined rankdowns on purpose. It all makes sense now. I didn't realize that everyone was required to participate if they gave a list of songs. I guess I will refrain from sending a list for the Spring and Summer ones too. I also didn't realize how involved it would be to participate in this particular game/tournament. I didn't even submit lists for the 2 current rankdowns I have going on despite the fact that I am the host of those two. I have been super busy with work lately. It's actually much harder than it sounds despite all the stories I have shared in RT. I don't just sit up in an ivory tower somewhere sipping on champagne all day having someone feed me grapes. I usually only go up to my office to eat. Or cry occasionally. I am out there on the floor jumping in and actually helping customers and my fellow managers and associates.

I'm surprised LSS made it as far as it did (and also still a bit flabbergasted it's Kelly's best ranking song), but I am even more surprised (again) at the high SD. I say this as a fan - she's like the definition of safe. So I always expect her to get sunk by people not having a strong enough reaction, not the other way around ...Slow Dance's early death makes sense to me, but this and Medicine's stats I can't wrap my head around for some reason.
Only my #1 and #10 remain out of my top 10 lol.
I'm most surprised at Cam (sorry guys, I really just don't get it with this song) and Lorde (now she is the on I expected to have some high SDs).

I usually only go up to my office to eat. Or cry occasionally. I am out there on the floor jumping in and actually helping customers and my fellow managers and associates. 'Required' is a strong word. But fwiw madnesses are not like regular rankdowns, so it's not 'you submitted songs, therefore you are expected to play.' It's 'you submitted songs and are now expecting a bunch of other people to take time out of their day to listen to them, so it would be considerate of you to do the same for theirs.' Everyone's busy. We all have jobs or go to school or are caretakers or get sick or whatever. James himself has had to postpone reveals before for literally every reason I just listed except the caretaker one so don't throw shade like you're the only one who doesn't have time. You just chose not to make the time. Look at it this way: normal rankdowns are the Pulse equivalent of someone throwing a house party, buying all the food and drinks themselves, and inviting people to stop by. Since the host made all the plans himself, no one else is expected to contribute anything. But Madness tournaments/rankdowns are the equivalent of a Pulse potluck where there's a sign-up sheet, and everyone who says they are coming agrees to bring something for the party. If you're not able to stay for the whole event or show up at the very start, that's fine. But don't be the bitch who signs up for plates and utensils and then wonders why everyone is side-eyeing you for showing up with Dollar Tree s**t, making multiple trips to the buffet line, and rolling out without even speaking to the host. That's just poor manners.

I mean, there are people who pulled out top 10 finishes in seeds they didn't participate in, and that's not really fair when there are people who did all four lists and still couldn't get a look-in. And then there's this; if you knew beforehand you were going to be too busy to find time for any of the sets then maybe you should have sat this one out and come back for March Madness where there is less pressure (and less songs to listen to at any one time).
And I have never tried to intentionally ruin rankdowns. Whoever said that in the Confessional is paranoid af and can't stand the fact that people have different tastes in music.
ETA: This sentiment also applies to regular Madness tournaments btw.
