Other than a couple songs, 80βs Chicago is just so corny.

I'm not surprised that Julio Iglesias is at #100. The song has a nice, lovely melody and singing, but the lyrics are terribly sappy. I mean really? ?? You dedicate a song to all your ex-lovers? This song sounds like something you would sing at a bar with all your drunken buddies joining in, lol. πππππ

"When You Close Your Eyes" is the only song in my top half that's already gone. I'm already doing better with this rankdown than I do with any of the Active Rock rankdowns.

Other than a couple songs, 80βs Chicago is just so corny. "Stay The Night" and "Will You Still Love Me?" are my two favorite '80s Chicago songs. I like "Hard Habit To Break" too, but it is more Soft AC than Hot AC, so I understand why some people might find it cheesy. It's a song that everybody's mom likes, so to speak.

1984 is the year I started doing my personal ranking --in August, my birthday month-- after several months listening and taking notes of local charts. So this RD brought A LOT of great memories. There was barely a handful of songs I hadn't heard, and all of them ended up in my bottom 10. I can say I like my entire top 92, just to different extent :) Time Will Reveal was my clear #100, whereas I Still Can't Get Over Loving You and Think of Laura were clear bottom 5. All of them were new listens. I feel like I could've ranked Yah Mo B There a bit higher than 95 had I heard it before.
I gave some extra points to To All The Girls... just because it was by a great Spanish singer, whose ballads in the 1970s and early 1980s were huge hits back home which I also really liked. In my personal chart, however, All Of You and Me Va Me Va were much bigger hits than TATGILB
I never dug Nobody Told Me, and I even found it a bit annoying back then. Time hasn't helped it either, so it was a clear bottom 10 for me in this RD.
Stuck On You was a cute little song that I really liked in 1984... I still like it but just doesn't compare with so many good songs in 1984, so I had to rank it #82.
An Innocent Man (#81) wasn't a big hit back home and I discovered it years later. I really like Billy's performance here, but I feel the song could've been stronger
My biggest disappointment so far is Hard Habit To Break (#52). I really like the melody of the song, especially in the chorus, and the combination of Peter and Bill in lead vocals. And I have a soft spot for Chicago, from whom I like most of its singles (including Hard To Say I'm Sorry, one of my favorite ballads of the early 1980s).

#100. To All The Girl I've Loved Before - Julio Iglesias and Willie NelsonI can't say this is a favorite of mine. I was only around 7-8 years old back then, so you can imagine what I liked? #99. Think Of Laura - Christopher CrossFor classic Christopher Cross, I go to 1980-1981. #98. I Still Can't Get Over Loving You - Ray Parker, Jr.This was actually a great R&B/Synthpop fuse. I think it's better than "Ghost Busters". #97. Time Will Reveal - DeBargeAnother pleasant R&B ballad. "Whose Holding Donna Now" was great. #96. Yah Mo B There - James Ingram & Michael McDonaldIt's no surprise I'm not a fan of duets. Maybe Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta, Oxxy and Lita Ford, but not much more. #95. An Innocent Man - Billy JoelBilly Joel has some real classics, this just isn't one of them. #94. When You Close Your Eyes - Night RangerI knew it wouldn't be long before I got pissed here. I love Night Ranger. I still chart Night Ranger in 2017, because they release new music. This was a great album. #93. Nobody Told Me - John LennonNobody told me, John Lennon would be tanked here? #92. Hard Habit To Break - ChicagoThis one was pretty surprising. I thought Chicago was a safe top 40 bet? This was the last big album before Peter Cetera went solo. #91. Stuck On You - Lionel RichieHuge Year for Lionel Richie, but not so much with 8 years kids. The 80's are pretty much my lifeforce, so I decided to do a little something different. Back then I was glued to the radio listening to Casey Kasem all the time and I would jot down my own favorites. Even back then I was doing my own year end lists. these are my 100-91. The six missing songs, are from this list, but haven't shown up yet. Some of you should remember these underrated classics? care to fill in the blanks?100. New Song - Howard Joneswww.youtube.com/watch?v=9fjg7N_mGaU99. 98. 97. 96. The Politics Of Dancing - Re-Flexwww.youtube.com/watch?v=sRrSwLHyxGc95. I'll Wait -- Van Halenwww.youtube.com/watch?v=nqDfzO42epE94. Don't Walk Away - Rick SpringfieldI'm a huge Rick Springfield fan (hint hint) www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFANiIwayAA93. (What) In The Name Of Love - Naked Eyeswww.youtube.com/watch?v=RLgHgjBfSlU92. 91.

Hey! I was born in 1975 And All of You (Julio and Diana) reached #1 in my personal chart :) Penny lover and Stuck on you reached top 10 :) I hadnβt started my personal chart when New Song was popular but I ranked it pretty high in my year end countdown. Itβs what I call a retroactive #1. Love it! Also love What in the name of Love. Donβt remember the others youβve posted. New Song however, for some reason, always bring back the memory of Sergio Mendesβ Un Loco DΓa, both popular around the same time and with some similar vibe.

Between this and the 1983 rankdown I've come to learn that 'Piano Man' is the only Billy Joel song I have any use for. I've hated everything of his in these two rankdowns.

Oof, I think "Church of the Poison Mind" is my first top 50 loss. Only slightly disappointed that it's the first CC song out.
But hey, at least my bottom five is cleared. And I wasn't expecting gates and I to disagree that much on "Breakdance". Ouch.
