Couldn't find a thread for the original 1984 version. I've always loved this song. Brings back some great memories.

Thank God it’s them, instead of you.
Chills.

Another Chirstmas song that my AC station often played. Cheesy yes, but more tolerable than USA for Africa's "We Are the World", which was clearly influenced by this song.

It's like a Christmas version of "We Are The World". It's quite decent to listen to, but not one of my faves.

Besides Mariah's "All I Want for Christmas is You" and king George's "Last Christmas," this is the other song I always listen to at Christmas time. I love how Midge wrote the song so fast and wound up producing it all and I dislike that Bob Geldof, wanker, walked away with all the credit for the song and Live Aid. I played it to my students last week and they loved it.

People like to crap on this song the same way they like to crap on We Are The World but imo it has the same cheesy charm as WATW without overdoing it and overstaying its welcome.
It has its flaws, it is still a charity song by a bunch of well meaning but tone deaf celebrities (thanks Bono, i'm glad it's them istead of me...) but it's cute for what it is and musically it slaps

The greatest holiday musical collaboration of all time!, This pretty much embodied and still embodies the Christmas spirit during the Holidays. Everyone's vocals were incredible, But George Michael's vocals was undoubtably the best one out of them all! This is a timeless holiday classic that I never grow tired of listening to every Holiday season, And a career high for all of these singers that collaborated to record this masterpiece!
