Ariana Grande dominates this week's Official Charts with her new collection.
Ariana Grande pulls off the rare Official Chart Double as Positions, her sixth album and its title track, each claim Number 1 on this week’s Official Singles and Albums Charts.
Positions becomes Ariana’s fourth consecutive Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart, racking up 27,500 chart sales, including 27.6 million track streams. Her previous chart-toppers are Thank U, Next (2019), Sweetener (2018), and Dangerous Woman (2016).
Celebrating the news, Ariana tweeted: "thank you my UK baaabies. i miss n love you all. thank you so so much."
Meanwhile, Positions (single) leads the Official Singles Chart for a second week, while two more tracks from the record land in the Top 40: 34+35 at Number 9 and Motive ft. Doja Cat at 16. The entries take her tally of UK Top 40 hits to 28.
Ariana is the fourth artist to achieve the chart double in 2020 – following the successes of Drake, Eminem and Stormzy. It’s the second time she’s claimed it, after Thank U, Next (album) / Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored (single) topped the charts in the same week in February 2019.
The star is also the first female artist to score consecutive chart double wins in almost ten years, since Rihanna’s Loud (album) / What’s My Name (single) and Talk That Talk (album) / We Found Love (single), both in 2011.
Elsewhere on this week’s Official Albums Chart, Sam Smith is new at Number 2 with their third album Love Goes, and Cliff Richard completes an all-new Top 3 with Music… The Air That I Breathe. The entry marks Cliff’s 46th Top 10 album and extends his run of chart success across eight decades. More on this story here.
Sheffield rockers Bring Me The Horizon claim their fourth Top 10 collection with Post Human – Survival Horror (5), M Huncho lands his second Top 10 collection of 2020 with DNA (6), a collaborative mixtape with Nafe Smallz, and The Style Council score their first Top 10 in 31 years with Long Hot Summers – The Story Of (8). Amy MacDonald completes this week’s Top 10 with The Human Demands (10), her fifth consecutive Top 10 studio album.
New in this week’s Top 20 are Black Stone Cherry’s The Human Condition (11), Dizzee Rascal’s seventh record E3 AF (13), and WizKid’s Made In Lagos (15), the musician’s first UK Top 20 album.
Further down, Camelphat’s Dark Matter debuts at 23 as a digital-only release, Jane McDonald Cruising With – Vol. 2 enters at 24, a 10th anniversary reissue of U2’s All That You Can’t Leave Behind is at 27, and David Bowie live album Ouvrez Le Chien is new at 32.
Finally, Eels’ 13th album Earth To Dora lands at 37, and Elvis Costello claims his 24th Top 40 record with Hey Clockface at 39.
Official Singles Chart
Behind Ariana, Wes Nelson & Hardy Caprio climb to a new peak of Number 3 with See Nobody, and Diamonds by Sam Smith jumps six places to a new high at Number 11 following the release of their new album Love Goes.
A big new entry this week comes from Tion Wayne with Deluded ft. Mist at Number 26, becoming Tion Wayne’s seventh Top 40 single and fifth this year, and Mist’s fifth Top 40 overall.
Meanwhile, Paul Harvey and the BBC Philharmonic debut at Number 32 with Four Notes - Paul’s Tune. Paul, who is 80, suffers with dementia and went viral in September after his son Nick posted footage of him improvising a song on his piano, performing an "old party trick" in which he composes a tune from just four notes. Four Notes is the most downloaded single of the week, reaching Number 1 on the Official Download Chart, proceeds are being split between the Alzheimer's Society and Music for Dementia. Finally, House trio Meduza return with Paradise ft. Dermot Kennedy at Number 35, Meduza’s third UK chart hit and Dermot’s fourth Top 40 single, while Harry Styles climbs to Number 40 with Golden, the fifth single from his album Fine Line.

Plus Kylie, Little Mix and Paul Harvey make notable Top 20 appearances on the Official Charts: First Look.
Miley Cyrus challenges Ariana Grande for Number 1 on this week’s Official Chart: First Look, as Midnight Sky flies up five places to Number 2 following a new remix featuring Stevie Nicks.
The new version of the song, Edge of Midnight (Midnight Sky Remix), samples Stevie Nicks’ classic hit Edge of Seventeen and even features new vocals from Nicks. As things stand the track is fewer than 1,000 chart sales behind Ariana Grande’s reigning Number 1 Positions.
Little Mix could land their tenth Top 5 single with Sweet Melody this week, which is up eight places to Number 4 today following the release of their sixth studio album Confetti.
Diamonds by Sam Smith could rise to the Top 10 after climbing two to Number 9. If the song stays on track it will become Sam’s 12th Top 10 hit.
Kylie Minogue is eyeing up two Top 20 placings following the release of her 15th studio album Disco: Say Something re-enters at Number 16 and Magic is at 19 after 48 hours, and if they hold on to their places will not only mark new peaks for both singles, but Kylie’s first Top 40 singles since 2018’s Dancing.
Finally, Paul Harvey and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra are poised to scoop another week in the Official Singles Chart with Four Notes – Paul’s Tune, which is at Number 17 on today’s First Look.
The Official Singles Chart is revealed here on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Listen to the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1's Official Chart show with Scott Mills every Friday from 4pm.

Lewis Capaldi's "Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent" has spent 77 weeks in a row on the Top 10 of the Official U.K. album chart, surpassing Ed Sheeran's "÷" for the most consecutive weeks in the Official Albums Chart Top 10 for an album by a solo artist. It has also claimed more successive weeks in the Top 10 than the likes of Adele's 21 and Sam Smith's In The Lonely Hour.

Plus new peaks from Little Mix, James Arthur and Harry Styles.
Ariana Grande holds on to the UK Number 1 single for a third week with Positions.
The lead single from her chart-topping album of the same name continues its reign at Number 1 after clocking up over 44,000 chart sales including 5.4 million streams. Also from Positions, POV is this week’s highest new entry at Number 22, becoming Ariana’s 29th Top 40 track.
Following the release of their sixth album Confetti, Little Mix scoop two Top 40 singles this week; Sweet Melody flies nine places to a new peak of Number 3, and the album’s title track Confetti is at Number 23, their 27th Top 40 hit.
Miley Cyrus’s Midnight Sky rises back to its previous peak of Number 5, following the release of a remix featuring Stevie Nicks, Edge of Midnight, which samples Nicks’ seminal 1981 track Edge of Seventeen – which didn’t chart in the UK but has become a classic in the years since its release.
Further down, Dua Lipa’s Levitating becomes her tenth Top 10 single, rising three to Number 10. The song has enjoyed a recent rise following a remix of the track featuring DaBaby.
Justin Bieber & Benny Blanco’s Lonely rises three to a new peak at Number 17, while James Arthur lands his tenth Top 20 hit as 2016 track Train Wreck rises four to Number 19. Shawn Mendes’ Wonder climbs five to a new peak at Number 20.
Flying up nine places, Paradise by Meduza ft. Dermot Kennedy lands a new peak of Number 24, as Ritt Momney’s cover of Put Your Records On rebounds four to 27. Jax Jones climbs six to 28 with I Miss U ft. Au/ra, and British rapper Giggs earns his second Top 40 track following the release of his new mixtape Now Or Never, as Straight Murder (Giggs & David) ft. Dave debuts at Number 35.
Harry Styles climbs to a new peak of 36 with Golden, and finally, rising rapper CJ enters the Top 40 for the first time with his viral track Whoopty which advances nine places to 39.

Kylie Minogue has become the first female artist to score a Number 1 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart in five consecutive decades - in the ‘80s, ‘90s, ‘00s, ‘10s and ‘20s. So remarkable and well-deserved.

BBC Radio 2 Allstars' cover of Oasis' Stop Crying Your Heart Out could be the first Children in Need chart-topper for six years.
This year’s BBC Children In Need single Stop Crying Your Heart Out is on course to claim Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart following Friday’s television event, which raised £37 million.
The track is a cover of Oasis’ single performed by BBC Radio 2 Allstars, comprising of 24 artists including Kylie Minogue, Cher, Robbie Williams, Mel C, Paloma Faith and Nile Rodgers. Oasis’ original peaked at Number 2 on the Official Singles Chart in 2002.
If it holds on, Stop Crying Your Heart Out will be the eighth Children In Need single to reach Number 1. The last to hit the summit was Wake Me Up by Gareth Malone’s All Star Choir in 2014.
Billie Eilish is also set for a big new entry this week with her latest track Therefore I Am, currently at Number 2 and behind the Radio 2 Allstars by 8,000 chart sales.
1970s disco classic Yes Sir, I Can Boogie by Baccara is on course to return to the Top 40 after becoming Scotland’s unofficial Euro 2020 anthem. Following their dramatic win against Serbia in the Euro 2020 qualifier, a clip of the team dancing to the track in their dressing room went viral, sparking a campaign by the Tartan Army to get the song to Number 1. The song currently sits at Number 18.
Finally, just outside the Top 20, this year’s John Lewis Christmas advert song A Little Love by Celeste is at Number 29, potentially earning the British neo-soul singer songwriter her first Top 40 hit this Friday.
The Official Singles Chart is revealed here on OfficialCharts.com every Friday at 5.45pm. Listen to the Top 40 countdown live on BBC Radio 1's Official Chart show with Scott Mills every Friday from 4pm.

It's just one of ten Christmas songs already present in the Official Singles Chart Top 100 - proving that this year, the festive season is well and truly coming early.

Miley Cyrus & Dua Lipa and Shawn Mendes & Justin Bieber are also vying for this week's Official Chart Top 10.
BTS are challenging for first UK Official Number 1 single this week with Life Goes On. The South Korean group rank at Number 2 on today’s Official Chart: First Look, based on preliminary downloads and streams across the first two days of the chart tracking week.
Life Goes On is the most downloaded song of the week so far and has also amassed the most video streams over the last 48 hours. The track and its music video debuted on Friday (Nov. 20) to coincide with the release of the band’s new album BE the same day.
J-Hope, Jimin, Jin, Jungkook, RM, Suga and V have already achieved huge success on the UK’s Official Charts in 2020. BE’s lead single Dynamite became their highest-charting single to date, peaking at Number 3. They also conquered the Official Albums Chart for a second time in their careers this year when Map of the Soul: 7 went to Number 1 in February.
Leading overall by a narrow 600 chart sales and on track for a fifth week at Number 1 is Ariana Grande with Positions.
Miley Cyrus is heading for her seventh UK Top 10 single with Prisoner, in at Number 6. The track would also mark the 11th top flight single for featured artist Dua Lipa, who is also at Number 7 with Levitating, which is set for a new peak following her performance on The Graham Norton Show.
In at Number 10 midweek are Shawn Mendes & Justin Bieber with their collaboration Monster, taken from the former’s upcoming album Wonder. The first-time duet from the Canadian superstars could mark Shawn’s 7th UK Top 10 single and Justin’s 22nd.
Finally two Christmas songs are in line for returns to this Friday’s Official Singles Chart Top 20. The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl’s Fairytale of New York shoots from 63 last week to 16 today following social commentary about its lyrics, which the band themselves participated in. Also Mariah Carey is one place behind at 17 with All I Want For Christmas Is You, which re-entered the Top 40 on last Friday’s chart.

Ariana's fifth week at the top comes as six Christmas favourites twinkle in the Top 40.
Ariana Grande holds on to Number 1 for a fifth consecutive week with Positions.
In a week where the singer was nominated for a Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Grammy for Rain On Me with Lady Gaga, Positions finishes ahead of Billie Eilish’s Therefore I Am (2), by over 7,000 chart sales, notching up 5.4 million streams.
Meanwhile, Dua Lipa lands her seventh Top 5 single with Levitating, which jumps five places to Number 5, as she also scoops a feature on the highest new entry of the week Prisoner by Miley Cyrus, which goes straight in at Number 8.
Close behind are two further brand-new entries, Monster by Shawn Mendes & Justin Bieber (9) and Life Goes On (10), the opening track from BTS’ new album BE. Whoopty by rapper CJ flies up 12 places to Number 12 - CJ’s first Top 20 hit - and Ariana Grande’s 34+35 rises four to Number 13.
Mariah Carey rockets 17 places with All I Want For Christmas Is You, landing at Number 14 this week – the first of six classic Christmas songs in this week’s Top 40. Other festive favourites entering the Top 40 for the first time in 2020 are Wham’s Last Christmas (20), The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl’s Fairytale of New York (26), Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin’ Stevens (33), Michael Buble’s version of It’s Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas (35) and Band Aid classic Do They Know It’s Christmas (38).
Elsewhere, Paradise by Meduza ft. Dermot Kennedy rises two to Number 18, and Irish producer Shane Codd is up six places to 24 with Get Out My Head. Post Malone races up 47 places to Number 30 with former Top 3 single Sunflower ft. Swae Lee, which is back in the chart following a new TikTok trend.
Rapper Central Cee returns to the Top 40 with Loading, reaching a new peak of 34. Dynamite by BTS also rebounds, up 15 places to 37 following the release of their new album BE.
Finally, the Plugged In Freestyle from Irish drill group A92, Fumez the Engineer and Offica enters the UK Top 40 for the first time after climbing six places to Number 39.

Liam Gallagher scores the biggest download of the week so far, as Ariana Grande heads for sixth week at Number 1.
Liam Gallagher has certainly been no stranger to chart success in recent years with three solo Number 1 albums under his belt, but now he's set to make an impression on the Official Singles Chart too with new charity single All You're Dreaming Of.
The track, co-written with Simon Aldred, could be about to deliver the Oasis star his highest-charting solo single to date on Friday. The UK's most downloaded track of the week so far and the week’s highest new entry after 48 hours, All You're Dreaming Of is Number 12 on tonight's Official Chart First Look, broadcast on BBC Radio 1.
Liam’s current personal best on the singles front as a solo artist is 2017’s Wall Of Glass which peaked at Number 21
Billed by Liam himself as a song that Bing Crosby would be proud of, the new festive track performed last night on The Jonathan Ross Show, has been confirmed by the Official Charts Company as an early contender for the Official Christmas Number 1 2020 crown. All You’re Dreaming Of is available digitally now, plus a 12" and limited edition white 7" vinyl version are due for release on the day the Christmas Number 1 race 2020 kicks off (December 18). Proceeds are going to UK charity Action For Children.
Compiled by the Official Charts Company, the UK's Official Christmas Number 1 race 2020 takes place 18-24 December, the winner will be revealed exclusively on BBC Radio 1 on Christmas Day afternoon and the Top 100 singles and albums published on OfficialCharts.com.
Elsewhere, Ariana Grande looks set to make it a sixth week at Number 1 with Positions on Friday, as Little Mix’s Sweet Melody climbs one place midweek to Number 2.
Miley Cyrus Midnight Sky could be looking at a new peak position of Number 3, first entering the chart some 15 weeks ago, it’s previous best was Number 5.
A flurry of festive favourites old and new make big leaps forward since Friday - Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas leads the charge, up 10 places at the beginning of the week to Number 4 and will be one of four Christmas songs potentially breaking into the Top 10 when the final chart is announced on Friday.
Wham!’s Last Christmas rides up 13 places midweek to Number 7, Justin Bieber’s new cover of Brenda Lee's Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree zooms forward 40 places to Number 8, and Fairytale Of New York hovers just behind (10).
And finally, Burton-born DJ Nathan Dawe & Little Mix’s new collaboration No Time For Tears starts its chart journey at Number 32, the second highest new entry of the week so far.
The final Official Chart Top 40 will be unveiled exclusively on BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart with Scott Mills this Friday from 4pm, with the full Official Singles Chart Top 100 published here on OfficialCharts.com from 5.45pm.

Continued to be amazed at the enduing popularity of "Fairy Tale of New York"- not exactly the most merriest of songs. :)

^As an added twist, this year in the UK there has been some controversy about whether radio stations some play the original version or a cleaned up one which has made the song even more notorious.

26 years after its release, Mariah's festive classic is on course to claim Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart for the first time.
Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas Is You could finally claim Number 1 on the Official UK Singles Chart this week, according to the latest data from the Official Charts Company.
On today's Official Chart Update (published 5.45pm, Nov. 3), Carey's festive classic climbs to Number 2 and is just 900 chart sales behind the midweek Number 1, Ariana Grande's Positions.
If the song continues on its current trajectory, All I Want For Christmas could very well reach the UK’s Official Chart summit for the first time in its long and storied history on Friday, 26 years after its release. This week’s Number 1 will be unveiled from 4pm Friday on BBC Radio 1’s The Official Chart with Scott Mills, with the Top 100 published on OfficialCharts.com.
Mariah’s much-loved festive hit is one of four Christmas songs set to break the Official Chart Top 10 on Friday - streams of Christmas songs in 2020 are surging strongly as Britain wishes away the troubles of 2020. Official Charts Company data shows that year-to-date streams of Christmas songs now stand at 252m, up nearly 44% on the same period in 2019.
First released in 1994, All I Want For Christmas Is You famously lost out on that year's Official Christmas Number 1 crown to East 17's Stay Another Day, peaking at Number 2.
However, it’s unusually rapid ascent up the Official Chart this year now puts it as a strong contender for the 2020 Official Christmas Number 1, which this year is announced on Christmas Day, December 25.
Since 2007 - in the age of downloads and streaming - the song has re-entered the chart every year around Christmas. The last three years have seen the song match its Number 2 peak, but this week could finally see it go all the way to Number 1. View All I Want For Christmas’ full UK chart run here.
The news comes as Carey is set to release a brand-new version of her festive song Oh Santa this Friday (Dec. 4) featuring Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson. The song features on upcoming Apple TV+ special Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas, which airs on the same day.
The Official Christmas Number 1 race 2020 kicks off Friday, December 18 with sales and streams counting up until midnight (11.59pm) on Thursday, December 24.
Tune in to The Official Chart with Katie Thistleton on BBC Radio 1 on 25 December from 2-4pm to hear the Christmas Top 40 countdown and the exclusive reveal of the winner of the Official Christmas Number 1 2020.
You can also catch Top Of The Pops on BBC One on Christmas Day, more details of the broadcast to come. The full Top 100 Official Christmas Singles Chart and Albums Chart will be published on OfficialCharts.com from 5.45pm.

The Official Songs chart appears to be well ahead of the Hot 100 in terms of holiday songs in the top 40. They just announced on the radio show for the former, there's going to be 14 of them. And AIWFCIY might finally be #1 ...
