This is an odd top 10. Nothing seems too out of place, but I guess I just expected some other songs to be in here. Wondering if maybe "Into The Ocean" can somehow sneak up and win this? Haven't heard anybody complain about it yet and its pretty accessible. I guess Muse could be a good bet too.

25. Thrash Unreal - Pretty good song, but overstayed its welcome a bit.
24. The Diary Of Jane - “DO YOU LIKE THAT? DO YOU LIKE THAT?” Ugh, way too much angst for me. So glad this missed top 20; now one bottom 10 to go, plus one that came close to it.
23. Paralyzer - Better than #24, but still hasn’t aged well with me, and overstayed its welcome by a good amount.
22. Face Down - This one’s pretty solid, but again, it’s stuck around long enough. Not disappointed with any of the reveals so far.
21. Misery Business - WOW! Still way too high of course, but I wasn’t expecting a top 20 miss. Congrats to my fellow tankers, we pulled off a miracle here! And this clears my bottom 10!
20. Never Too Late - Pretty much in line with what I expected, a bit lower than last year but still a good ranking. Again, this was a good song that showed that 3DG had more to them than generic teen angst anthems.
19. Through Glass - I was kind of expecting this to be top 10, but I’m fine with it here. This song holds up well.
18. The Pretender - This was an undeserving #1 last year, and while I don’t think it’s top 20-worthy either, it’s about as low as I could have reasonably expected. Not a bad song or anything, but I’ve never gotten the huge fuss over it.
17. 3’s and 7’s - Great song from a great band. Would have loved to see this do better, but it’s still a solid performance for one of their less well-known songs in what’s widely considered a “stacked” year.
16. Read My Mind - Solid song, definitely their best single from this era, though still a notch below the Hot Fuss singles. Not quite top 20-worthy in my book, but since it’s The Killers, I’m content with it missing top 10.
15. Love Like Winter - Love this song, it’s my favorite from AFI. Wouldn’t have minded it making the top 10, especially considering that my #88 is still kicking, but it’s pretty close to where I put it.
14. Dashboard - Thought this had a shot at top 10, but this is still higher than where I put it. Good song, though not as good as some of their other singles.
13. Black Parade - YES! The predictions were wrong! So glad this unholy union of over-the-top stadium rock and teen angst missed the top 10. And with that, my whole bottom third is finally clear.
12. Snow (Hey Oh) - Kind of figured it would be this after seeing the hint that it was a song most people liked but relatively few loved. But this is just an inherently likable song despite its simplicity.
11. Icky Thump - Not one of my favorite White Stripes (or otherwise Jack White-related) singles, but still a pretty cool song which I wouldn’t have minded seeing in the top 10.
I was hoping my #67 would show up here, so that at least everything in the top 10 would be in my top 50. But all in all, a pretty solid (and rather surprising in some cases) top 10.

Also, can we not reveal this list on Valentine's night? A lot of us will probably be out or have plans tomorrow night, and I don't want to miss the action.

We are one song away from the top 10. I can't belive that "The Pot" song made the top 10? I can't believe any popster would put that anywhere out of their bottom 10? So How can it get that high? Unless many put it at their #1 song.
I have one top 10 song.

Welp I only have one top 10 left, hopefully it can make at least top 5. Good for Tool making the top 10, I ranked it decently here but I ranked it even better over on Active.

Just nine more songs to go, Muse. You've got this. You've got this.
("Prayer" or Incubus are probably winning this, though, and that's okay, too!)

Once again; we got a pretty predictable top 10. I might not like the song, but at least that Jumanji band with their "The Pot" song give the top 10 a different vibe. "Dig", Anna Molly" "Jesus Christ" (I forgot what this song even is)? and "Into The Ocean" are the biggest surprises here.

I don't dislike my 71 but not that big on it either. But watch it win to make up for half of my top 10 making the top 10 lol.
Of the songs that made the top 10, Into the Ocean is probably the one that surprised me the most.

Expecting Muse - Starlight to win.
Mine left: 1, 3, 4, 7, 8, 10, 31, 33, 42, 52
This is the best top ten showing for me in an alt rankdown by a huge margin.

Well it's been a rough rankdown up to this point but this is a pretty good top ten. I am SHOCKED that Into the Ocean made it considering how Blue October has performed in the past, I didn't even expect top 50.
I'm not surprised The Pot made it, I still expect it to have the most #1's. It has at least 3 and that's being very modest.
What I've Done is probably the weakest left. Incubus doubling up is surprising and frustrating considering Oil and Water should be in this instead of Dig.

Well this set of results did NOT go my way. I feel like there were a good 5 in a row of songs in my top 20 and so I still have songs I don’t even like all that much. Jesus Christ, Prayer Of The Refugee ans Starlight are all fantastic I’m glad they made the top ten Into The Ocean, Lazy Eye And What I’ve Done Were also pretty good but the rest of the songs were on my bottom half. I like the Pot but it ended up near the middle for me. Both of the Incubus songs are boring as hell and I have no idea why they get 2 top tens when White Stripes, AFI, Modest Mouse, QOTSA and RHCP missed entirely. (Literally fuck Incubus) Supermassive Black Hole was uninteresting as hell and Starlight better beat. This top ten isn’t all that great imo. I bet either Lazy Eye, Prayer For Tge Refugee or Starlight will win

Oh I remember being absolutely obsessed with “Face Down” back in the day. I had to get a grip on reality while ranking, considering what else was in contention, to avoid overranking this into my top 10. So a #22 ranking for this I think is quite fair. Not mad at all. Ok good for “Misery Business” just missing the top 20! I mean, I like the song a lot and all but there are certainly at least 20 other songs more deserving this year. Well done middle rankers.
Stone Sour sure know how to be hit or miss. Nothing really against “Through Glass” but also just never found anything noteworthy in it. They get a lot of love here so this ranking doesn’t surprise me.
Bottom 10 rankings for “The Pretender” are clearly out of spite and a joke, ahem, a certain bone poster tsk tsk. Like, no one actually thinks that song is not good. See, when you’re all getting your panties in a bunch because certain posters participate in rankdowns and tank your faves….how is that any different than when people decide they’ve seen too much of a song or band in a rankdown or it has won too much and are going to arbitrarily tank them just because of that and not because of the actual quality of music? How is that any different than when you say “hey pop poster, did you even listen to the song you tanked”? /endrant
Liking this top 10 actually. 4 top 10s left and I’m feeling slightly more confident my #1 can be the underdog winner…now watch it be out at #10.
#1, 2, 3, 8 #15, 16 #26 #40 #41 #52
Also, I’m confused about rowellfarm490 and his slaughter of all YE rankdowns lol. Do you all give him cheat sheets?

was busy last night so missed out on the live reveals. Shouldn't have said I was surprised to see Thrash Unreal in the Top 25 :(. Sad that it and 3's & 7's were eliminated this set.
glad I wasn't the lowest ranker for "Welcome to the Black Parade" to shield some of the multiple-#1s rage. I think there's a good song somewhere in there but it's buried under some of the most melodramatic vocals I've ever heard.
Also 7th grade me would be stoked to see "What I've Done" in the Top 10, current day me...not so much. At least my #1 is still in, maybe it has an outside shot at taking the crown? (I'm just hoping for Top 5 tbh) A little surprised "Jesus Christ" made the Top 10 but I'm sure the pitchforks will come out when it appears at #9.

1, 3, 16, 22, 29, 33, 39, 65, 68, 73.
I don't hate any of the songs left, but the ones in the bottom half are just OK. Here's how I expect the Top 10 to look:
1. "Lazy Eye" 2. "Prayer Of The Refugee" 3. "Starlight" 4. "Anna Molly" 5. "Supermassive Black Hole" 6. "Into The Ocean" 7. "Dig" 8. "The Pot" 9. "Jesus Christ" 10. "What I've Done"

My predictions: 1. "Starlight" 2. "Lazy Eye" 3. "Prayer Of The Refugee" 4. "Anna Molly" 5. "What I've Done" 6. "Dig" 7. "Into The Ocean" 8. "The Pot" 9. "Supermassive Black Hole" 10. "Jesus Christ"
Quite a satisfying top 10, other than "What I've Done" which is meh but not surprising. Definitely did not expect "Into The Ocean" and "Jesus Christ" to be this high, and "Dig" is mildly surprising too. My highest ranking song remaining is "Lazy Eye", but I'd also love to see "Into The Ocean" at the top since it's such a left field choice. I'd also be quite happy with "Anna Molly" or either Muse song at the top, and the only song I'm actively rooting against is "What I've Done".

I have been summoned. It's time for the top ten preview! Note: I don't know if James is revealing tonight or not, but let's assume that, if he doesn't update tonight, then "tonight" in this update means "whenever James updates". :kii:
- This is the first top ten appearance for Blue October, Brand New, Incubus, and Tool. Brand New and Tool are making the top ten in their first appearance. For Brand New, it's in their only appearance. Incubus is not just making their first top ten, but they're doubling up in said top ten. But I've saved the best for last: The previous best performance for Blue October was #44 in the 2009 Active RD. Their previous best performance on Alt? #60 in 2014 with "Bleed Out". No matter what, they're guaranteed to improve at least 50 spots on their previous best Alt performance. - Linkin Park are in their fifth top ten, and they will be looking to top their #7 ranking for "New Divide" in the 2009 Alternative RD. It might be a tall order for "What I've Done" to top the #2 ranking that "New Divide" achieved on Active that same year, but stranger things have happened. - This is the sixth top ten appearance for Silversun Pickups, and, for now, it will be their last, as "Lazy Eye" was their first charter. Silversun Pickups have been in three top fives, including a #1 finish with "Panic Switch". "Lazy Eye" will be looking to match that ranking tonight. - Muse are making their eighth and ninth appearances in the top ten, respectively, with "Starlight" and "Supermassive Black Hole". When Muse make the top ten, they tend to do pretty well, only missing out on the top five twice when making it to the top ten, but they have still yet to reach the top two. - Finally, Rise Against are making their tenth appearance in the top ten. Rise Against are the second band in the top ten to have reached the top spot, but they're the only band to have done it more than once. In fact, they're one of the few bands to top both the Active and Alt RDs in the same year, with "Savior" having done the double in 2010 (not to mention their #1 for "Re-Education (Through Labor)" in 2009 Active). Rise Against are another band that tend to do pretty well when they make the top ten, with six of their previous nine top ten appearances making the top five.
