"rockstar" is predicted to go back up to #3 this week while "Finesse" is predicted to go down? Wow, I thought "Finesse" would, at the very least, stay in the top 3. I hope it can still be the next #1 after "Havana", assuming that gets to #1 this week, which I hope it does. It's the 2nd week slump. This is pretty common.

Off-topic, but I saw the "rockstar" video on VH1 for the first time today. As it began, I wondered how much of it they would cut out. Turns out the video only lasts for about a minute, almost like a preview. They cut out entire verses, leaving in just the instrumental, and end the video after 21 Savage's verse, without showing all the gore and what-not. Why even show that video then? What's the point? Cos I can't imagine even people who like that song being pleased with seeing the video like that.

"Gucci Gang" might return to the top ten? :/ I'm surprised at "Motorsport" already potentially being out of the top ten. That did not last very long at all.

It's crazy Halsey is about to have a top 5 hit and all it took was her being on one of the biggest songs of all time

His etnicity is Cuban though. So depends on what the person asking the question was looking for I assume it is reference to Camila (born in Cuba) approaching #1 born in Cuba vs. family is of Cuban descent

His etnicity is Cuban though. I was asking about a person born in Cuba hitting number 1 cuz Camila was born in Cuba and most likely will go number 1 Monday

Has Halsey been around for long, is that it? I sure as hell had never heard of her before "Closer".
Side note, please don't lynch me, but I just listened to several of Camila's tracks on YouTube, and I find them all quite boring. Seems like "Havana" is the only catchy song on the album. I can tell it's a personal album, and I applaud that, but these songs are so dull to me.

Hit is a super strong word. It didn’t break top 50 on the hot 100 & didn’t make top 20 on pop

Has Halsey been around for long, is that it? I sure as hell had never heard of her before "Closer". Halsey debuted in early 2014 with a song called "Ghost" that she recorded and released independently to SoundCloud. It became a mini viral hit, securing her a record deal with the Astralwerks record company. In October of that year, she released her first EP, Room 93, which featured "Ghost" and four new songs. The EP peaked at #159 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Hitseekers Albums chart*. She began to gain a strong cult following with "Ghost" slowly gaining into a minor cult hit over several months. In July 2015, her debut single, "New Americana," released wither her debut album, Badlands following in late August 2015. This was the song that marked her first entry in the mainstream. It was a minor hit in several countries, including the US where it peaked at #60 on the Hot 100 and #25 on the pop airplay chart. Badlands likewise became a great success for Halsey, peaking at #2 on the Billboard 200 and selling nearly 800k worldwide. The album spawned two more singles, "Colors" and "Castle," though neither made the same impact as "New Americana," which actually took a while to make an impact anyway. "New Americana" peaked on the pop airplay charts in January 2016, for example, six months after release. "Colors" did manage to peak at #38 on the pop airplay chart in April 2016, but only peaked at #8 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100. "Castle" failed to get significant airplay, but did manage a slightly better peak of #1 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100. Though it was in August 2016 when things finally blew up for Halsey. Her cult following gained her notice by the EDM producers The Chainsmokers and in late July 2016, "Closer" was released, breaking out the following month and becoming the massive hit we all know today. "Now or Never" was Halsey's official follow up to the massive success, and of course "Closer" really helped her gain a more mainstream following. Basically, she was already growing and becoming popular. Before "Closer," her top song on Spotify had something like 70 million streams already. But "Closer" took her on the fast track from Tumblr star to pop star. *The Billboard chart that lists the top selling albums of the week by artists that have never reached the top 100 on the Billboard 200.

There's a bunch of British singers that broke through after featuring on a dance hit - Sophie Ellis-Bextor (Groovejet), Craig David (Re-Rewind), Sam Smith (Latch and La La La), Jess Glynne (Rather Be and My Love), Rita Ora (Hot Right Now), Seal (Killer), John Newman (Feel The Love).

How is Perfect still gaining airplay? Is no one sick of this song yet? Oh s**t Shape Of You flashbacks. You know, if Perfect ends up being the #1 song of the year, I am gonna be very disappointed. Not me apparently, though the different versions, especially the Beyonce version getting significant airplay, varied things up for me. It will also reside in AC land for a while, so you might wanna get ready to be disappointed. That's interesting because for me, as I've stated before, I'm not much of a fan of Havana (I don't hate it though), but many of the other songs on the album I found to be pretty quality pop material. I also didn't know that she wrote many of the songs, though pretty much all artists say "this is a personal album for me."

Simm's updated predictions Shape of You still has chance to stay! It still can not beat Uptown Funk! and Party Rock Anthem for decade-end though.

I mean would Drake have been anyone if he wasn't an actor on Degrassi? He might’ve had a chance, considering no one even considers him the “guy from Degrassi” anymore. Depends on how much Lil Wayne was paying attention, and I’m pretty sure he wasn’t looking at Degrassi cast members for rap talent.

I absolutely forget that Drake was on a TV show, but in my defense, it's because I never watched it. Same with Ariana and her show. It's easier for me to remember Miley and Selena as Disney stars, and to presume that they wouldn't have been the success stories they are today if not for Disney.

His biggest rival is Culture II by Migos though
Camila is a month old by then and JT doesn't match his target group at all

Yeah, I'm saying that for a #1 debut. Culture II would be like II weeks old (could that be considered a pun?) and JT would drop, Camilla would be, as you've sad, almost a month old.

I hope it can still be the next #1 after "Havana", assuming that gets to #1 this week, which I hope it does. I've been pointing out its loss of momentum. Its sales and streams have dipped from the initial hype, and obviously airplay is still behind the top songs that have been out for awhile. It needs a great Grammys performance to boost it to #1.

Bruno will be comfortably top 10 in airplay by the time the grammys role around. Cannot wait for the Grammy performance of "Finesse". Also hoping he will win a bunch of awards and get a big boost for both "Finesse" and the album. Perhaps both going to #1? *dreams*
