We close the night with this song from another polarizing band. The posters who love them help them, the posters who don't, well, don't. This has the 2nd highest SD, with seven top 10s, and 3 bottom 10s. One of those top 10s is a #2.

American Idiot I love you as a poster, but you have to stop tanking Mastodon songs. I will seriously pay $1000 a song if you stop tanking them. You guys have a few more chances to treat them well in future rankdowns, as it's their last retro rankdown appearance.

Daughtry is arguably the best singer in this Rankdown. Yeah, I'll argue with that one. Maynard. Well you guys fucked up the bottom half of my top ten. Evans Blue don't get enough respect, they're pretty solid. If Promise and The Threat had charted, it'd be top five. Fair to Midland are CRIMINALLY underrated. It's a shame this is their only appearance and it doesn't look like they'll be releasing any more music as they are broken up. Musical Chairs would've been my #1 in the year it charted, even above You've Seen The Butcher.

Wow, I thought "Colony Of Birchmen" was a lock for the top 10 this year. I don't want to hear that its "not melodic" either, because it is.

EXTRA:
Lithium - Evanescence Excellent. I need more of this Symphonic Metal vibe on Active today.
Everybody Is Easy (We Sink/We Swim) - The Burden Brothers Never heard of this band, but parts of that song were ok.
The Devil Cried - Black Sabbath The late Ronnie James Dio had some Amazing Heavy Metal vocals.
Redemption - Shadows Fall The vocals might scare off some people, but the fierce music goes along perfect with his tones.

40. Sweet Sacrifice - EvanescenceJust misses my top 20. Weird to see this song in the top 40, when it hardly got any high votes. Az Paynter 's vote must have really made a difference. 39. White Unicorn - WolfmotherThis really should have gotten a lot more high votes. It's full of classic Metal guitars. Sounds almost like a Sabbath song. This was an easy top song for me, can you imagine were I will rank "Woman" when it comes around? 38. Sillyworld - Stone SourA Stone Sour out of my top 50? This song has some 70's Alice Cooper vibes, but it just didn't click with me 100%. IMOP, that chorus fucked it up. 37. Ten Thousand Fists - DisturbedFierce work out music. They sort of rehash their own melodies, but it works for them, and guarantees them high positions on year end charts. The best part of this song is the breakdown. 36. The Arms of Sorrow - Killswitch EngageI'll even take the Tool songs over this. This song is just a huge tune out for me. This lead singer can't even follow the melody of his own song. 35. Bleed It Out - Linkin Parkdm2081 hates this more than me. Imagine That? Anyway this song sucks. Glad it's out. 34. What I Want - Daughtry f/ SlashI'm still waiting for Daughtry to dump all that pop B.S. and return to the Active charts. Daughtry has some of the best Rock vocals I ever heard. He easily gets top 10 slots on my lists. Even more when you have Slash on Guitar. At least it made top 40. 33. Heroes - ShinedownGot myself a P-P-P-PERFECT Ranking here. Message to Brent: Dump that pussy style of your last album and return to this sound. 32. Taking Back Control - SpartaIt has adrenaline value. I'll give it that. I liked it for the music and vibe during the verses, but The chorus sounds needlessly angrier than it should be. 31. Life is Beautiful - Sixx:A.M.Great slot for this song. One of their best. Those guitars just before the verses are my favorite part. 30. It's Not Over - Daughtrymasterpiece. 'nuff said. At one point I thought; Daughtry ,would be a great vocalist ,for Velvet Revolver. 29. The Pursuit - Evans BlueThis was alright. I don't hate it, but I didn't love it either. Chorus rocks , but the rest needs a dose of NRG. Do the bottom two rankers surprise you? 28. "Dance of the Manitou" - Fair to MidlandThat's a lot of top 10s. You guys pull these rankdown favorite bands, out of a hat. I never heard of this band before. The chorus let me upgrade it out of bottom 20, and I can see; Nothing More's, vocalist, doing it perfect, but the rest of this song is all over the place, and this guy's vocals rub me the way Austin John's vocals rub you all. The wrong way. 27. Made of Scars - Stone SourAnother Stone Sour song that failed to leave any memorable "scars" on me. 26. Colony of Birchmen - MastodonI like some Mastodon songs, but this was horrid in the vocal department. I just couldn't make out a song in there at all.

EXTRA:
Say This Sooner- The Almost Never heard this, but it was pretty cool.
You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do as You're Told) - The White Stripes Great song for an Alt chart. I need Jack to return to this sound A.S.A.P.
Going in Blind - P.O.D. I forgot how much I dislike this band. Some of the worse vocals I ever heard. Plus this melody has been rehashed countless of times.
Better Think Again - Submersed Don't think I'll be upgrading this song too much if and when it comes around. Sounds like discount (insert any band you think fits this style, here)

#24 is another song we saw in the 07 alt RD. Only one person ranked this bottom 30, which helped in it's ranking, but 3 top 10s will be tossed out of the window, clearing this band from this rankdown.

#23 is another big one, as we get rid of three top 5s, a top 10, a bottom 10, and two other bottom 20s, resulting in the 8th highest SD. This band has appeared a few other times, and did particularly well with one of their songs in the 08 RD.
