Indeed- often in the last couple of decades, her tour-backdrop videos have been better than ones shot for her singles. M appears on Forbes' 2020 list of America's Richest Self-Made Women, at No. 40. The write-up doesn't sound like it was updated from 2019, though. www.forbes.com/self-made-women/

Thanks for noting my typo, MX. :) Wasn't trying to call you out babycakes! I was actually surprised that Rihanna is such a powerhouse. I keep forgetting that she has had more #1 hits and has been a consistent hitmaker the past 15 years. Its crazy.

^Oh, I know- I meant it in a genuine thank-you manner. King of Typos here, after all. :)
Ri also has a lot of revenue from non-music sources, more than M at this point.

I love the video for "Paradise (Not For Me)." I had only ever seen it interspersed with footage from the Drowned World Tour. I went to the Drowned World Tour, but it is so long ago, that I don't remember all this footage. It is quite beautifully done. it's crazy that Madonna was still seen as super cool at the age of 42, even on mainstream Top 40 radio. Who is the oldest female getting regular radio hits these days?

These days, SPR, no 40-plus females are getting regular radio hits. There was Sia, who was over 40, though she had her solo breakthrough (2014 album) close to 40, so a different story. And even her big mainstream success dried up in the last few years.

Holiday classics in the streaming era are a special circumstance, thus I'd put an asterisk next to "All I Want..." She was 49 (or 50- conflicting info as to her birth year) when the song hit No. 1, though said song was released when she was in her mid-20s. Same thinking would apply to Brenda Lee if "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" were to hit No. 1 on the Hot 100- she was 13 or so when it was first released, though she's now 75.

I had this poster. I bought it at the Who's That Girl Tour at Giants Stadium in August 1987. I was a wee gay of 17. I also included a couple of pictures from the tour book, which I have in my closet somewhere. Because we didn't have the internet / social media back then, her new looks were always a surprise that were unveiled in a new video or if she appeared on TV somewhere. This look was somewhere between the release of the Open Your Heart video and the La Isla Bonita video. You can tell her hair is shorter and the blond was mostly cut out of her hair. She was then a medium brunette in her next two videos (La Isla Bonita and Who's That Girl). I thought this shade of brown suited her over later looks where she had gone almost completely black. I believe this was also the first time she had gone brunette after her rise to fame and it was all a buzz when she debuted it in La Isla Bonita. Attachment Deleted

Talking about Thriller in another thread had me thinking of Madonna's Halloween song that no one talks about.
Supernatural, which has been on Spotify. It's actually a great song and if you really listen to the lyrics it does relate to Halloween. 😁👻🎃

I remembering hearing it the first time on the Madonna station on AOL Radio when I was in high school.

I've heard Sidewalk Talk TWICE at work in the last week. Love that song. It was insanely addicting. I remember when Miami's radio station Mega 103.5 used to play that song alot in the late 90s, before they had transitioned to an urban station.

Supernatural is a very silly song about a romance / love affair she has with a ghost. She started composing it during the True Blue era, but completed it during the Like a Prayer era. It’s amusing and catchy, but I can completely see why it didn’t make the cut for the Like a Prayer album. Thematically it didn’t fit in as the rest of the album is mostly serious. It would have stuck out because it is almost juvenile in a sense. That being said, I bought the Cherish single back in ‘89 just so I could have this song. It’s also on the Red Hot + Dance compilation in remixed form.

Of course I was mesmerized with each and every new look she would get. And would try to buy the magazine in which a picture would show up. : ) Aaaaahh... the days with no internet.... ha ha ha.

Back in 1986 this (or a very similar picture) was on the cover of magazine in Lima, Peru. I believe the Mexican magazine called Tú (You) if i remember correctly. It was the FIRST time I saw her with her new short blond hair look. I couldn't believe my eyes!! The Papa Don't Preach video had not premiered yet. She had just offered us a fully new look only a few months back with the Live To Tell video. I didn't expect a new change so soon. This picture was taken at the premiere of the Sean Penn movie At Close Range.

Different photos from the same event were in People magazine. I always preferred her hair straight during her short hair era. I hated when she would make it curly and poofy like cotton candy.
