Thought I would share..given that Madonna has always ruled the Dance Club chart.
On March 31, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused the closures of clubs, Billboard temporarily suspended the chart. [5] The last number-one song, for the issue dated March 28, 2020, was "Love Hangover 2020" by Diana Ross.[6] Even after the pandemic receded and club attendance increased again, Billboard never revived the chart nor ever published additional information about a possible revival, effectively ending the nearly 44-year run of the chart.

Like a Virgin sold more than 1.8 million in the UK back when it was on the charts, thus its lack of cert beyond 3 platinum is ridiculous lol
August- I was just wondering about Dance/Club Songs. DJs have been out "spinning" for some time now, though no return of the chart. If it never returns, at least M's record will never be toppled. :)

^^Crazy For You has officially surpassed the 100 million streams mark on Spotify.
This is Madonna's 10th individual track to cross the mark and her 12th song when duplicate versions get merged (Into The Groove and Holiday)

I'm excited to see that she is working with Max Martin. Long overdue! Also, nice to see my 10,000th post be in the Madonna thread. :)

She’s in the studio with Max Martin! As much as I have liked Max Martin's productions, I don't think her working with him is a good idea. It will be seen as following the trends because everyone and their cute dog has used him all up previously like a twink on an Atlantis cruise. She needs to work with new and undiscovered talent.

I understand that sentiment, but I think its fine as he is not "of the moment" as Nile Rogers, Babyface, Timbaland, Pharell, and Avicii were. Max has been around for a long time and he is the most successful writer/producer on the Hot 100. It makes sense for them to work together at some point in their careers.

She already tried that numerous times with those Frozen remixes and that Hung Up remix. I say a big YUCK to reggaeton. Max Martin is a breath of fresh air compared to that sound.

Agree with all points - understand the sentiment around her working with new talent as well, but that's not what she's about right now. She's in 'greatest hits' mode, why not work with one of the biggest hitmakers ever?

I imagine this will be a stand alone single for the tour? I doubt she has enough time to produce an album and prepare for the tour but who knows.

If she is doing new music, I think she should work with Honey Dijon and Purple Disco Machine. Their sound has elements of older, familiar styles, but they are doing it in a way that feels current without it sounding dated.

And I know this is probably a unpopular opinion but I would love for her to work with Calvin Harris.

This sounds like what TLC did before Dallas Austin took this sound to them. I wish this would've been on the Secret digital maxi-single release.

I stumbled across an article in Rolling Stone about "horrible albums made by brilliant artists." American Life made the list... American Life

That is a harsh review of American Life. IMHO, "I'm So Stupid" and the rap verse on "American Life" were the only mis-steps.

I think AL will be reassessed someday, I think it’s in the top half of her catalog for sure. Some of the lyrics are silly but the production is top notch.

Not sure what article it was, but there was a follow-up where Rolling Stone said it may have jumped the gun in calling AL "horrible." It's not in contention for her best album, but, yeah, it's not that bad, either.

I liked Let Down Your Guard more than the original version of Secret and was hoping it was going to be released with the Secret digital maxi. I still hold out hope that finds its way to the digital streaming platforms someday.
