This sounds like what TLC did before Dallas Austin took this sound to them. I wish this would've been on the Secret digital maxi-single release. This track brings back so many fun memories! I liked Let Down Your Guard more than the original version of Secret and was hoping it was going to be released with the Secret digital maxi. I still hold out hope that finds its way to the digital streaming platforms someday.

M is playing Nashville to protest the anti-lgbtq+ bills: variety.com/2023/music/news/madonna-tour-second-leg-additional-nashville-tennessee-benefit-1235565014/Madonna Announces Eight Extra Dates for Winter U.S. Tour, With Focus on Trans Rights in Tennessee StopBy Chris Willman Madonna is adding eight extra dates to the second leg of her U.S. tour this coming winter. The additional shows were revealed in an announcement that put a special emphasis on a show sheโs added for Nashville on Dec. 22, where she plans to put the spotlight on the state of Tennesseeโs recent wave of LGBTQ+-targeted bills. The additional dates announced for this coming December and January represent a mixture of Madonna returning to cities where she already is playing concerts earlier in 2023, like New York City and Los Angeles, along with a few cities that are completely fresh additions to the โCelebration Tourโ routing, like Nashville, Philadelphia, Palm Springs and Sacramento. The previously unannounced 2023-24 dates take place Dec. 18 in Washington, D.C.; Dec. 20 in Philadelphia; Dec. 22 in Nashville; Jan. 11 in Palm Springs; Jan. 13, 2024 in Sacramento; Jan. 15 in San Francisco; Jan. 18 in Las Vegas; and Jan. 20 in Phoenix. (See a full itinerary of all her tour dates below.) For the Nashville show just before Christmas, to be held at the Bridgestone Arena, Madonna is vowing to donate a portion of the proceeds to trans rights organization. She did not specify what percentage, or which organizations will benefit. Tennessee is under fire for new laws that take aim at drag performances, among other rollbacks of rights affecting the LGBTQ+ community. (A multi-artist benefit concert, โLove Rising,โ was held at the Bridgestone last week.) In a statement, Madonna said, โThe oppression of the LGBTQ+ is not only unacceptable and inhumane, itโs creating an unsafe environment; it makes America a dangerous place for our most vulnerable citizens, especially trans women of color. Also, these so-called laws to protect our children are unfounded and pathetic. Anyone with half a brain knows not to fuck with a drag queen. Bob and I will see you from the stage in Nashville where we will celebrate the beauty that is the queer community.โ Bob the Drag Queen, aka Caldwell Tidicue, is her opening act across the global tour. In some of the cities that have newly added dates, sheโll be playing a different arena than the one that is hosting her earlier gigs on the tour. For instance, the January dates just announced for L.A. will take place at the Kia Forum, versus the four shows she already has scheduled for September and October at the Crypto Arena Similarly, in Las Vegas, her additional January show will be at the MGM Grand Arena, instead of the T-Mobile Arena, where sheโs headlining two shows three months earlier. And in New York, she will be in Brooklynโs Barclays Center for two nights in December, on top of the four nights sheโs doing at Madison Square Garden in August. The additional dates will go on sale across two dates this week, with Citi cardholder and fan club presales happening Tuesday, followed by a general on-sale Friday, both happening at 10 a.m. local time on those respective days madonna.com. The only exception is the Philadelphia date, which goes on sale at noon ET Friday.

Tomorrow will see the digital release of the Nothing Really Matters maxi single. I still have my CD maxi and have it ripped to my itunes. The digital release is the same as the maxi-single.
While I do like seeing her maxis getting digital releases, I do wish there were mixes included that were not on the original releases (if they exist). Just to bring something new to the party. Most stans of a certain age (*cough* me) already have these mixes. ;)

Here is a bit of randomness. Madonna recorded three songs for the Vision Quest soundtrack: Crazy for You, Gambler, and Warning Signs. Warning Signs was not used and has never leaked. However, the sheet music has leaked and the Santa Madonna podcast produced a recording so we can get an idea of how it mind have sounded.
Super dated but could have been a fun bop. It feels like it fits more into the True Blue era and not the first album / LAV era when this was written (1983).

The 4 versions of Frozen have surpassed the 100 million streams mark. This is Madonna's 13th song to achieve this feat:
1. Album Version - 65,690,193 (+48,237) 2. Celebration 2-Disc Version - 32,183,311 (+8,362) 3. GHV2 Version - 1,624,493 (+481) 4. Celebration 1-Disc Version - 558,266 (+90)
TOTAL: 100,056,263 (+57,170)

The Vocal, Future, and Phunk ones are my preferred of the Peter ones. The Phunk ones have the sounds heard in Peter's remix of House Of Prince "Perfect Love" that he did a couple of years before. Peter Rauhofer did all those various remixes with different variations and sounds just in case Madonna and her were not happy with just one mix, but fortunately for him, they liked all of them and put them out on the single and promo.

Awwwwww NRM... I have that one too. Back in the 90's, I would always hunt down the Canadian versions of her singles because they had the same track-listing/artwork, but they came in jewel cases instead of the digi-packs/FLP cases. And then obviously Japan, Europe, Australia for the alternate covers, mixes, etc. I don't think I own many of her US singles from that period, she was on the warpath with those cardboard cases during that decade.

More than a song written in 1983, to me this sounds more like something that wouldโve fit in The Whoโs That Girl soundtrack. Unless whoever did this chose the wrong type of 80s arrangement style.

As we gear up for another Madonna tour to assault our senses this year, I thought I would revisit a beautiful performance of hers, the 2018 Met Gala. I always love her performances / videos that delve into Catholic imagery and the baroque era. The Met is my favorite museum in the world (not because it is 10 mins away). If you have ever been, you know it evokes a lot of the feel and energy that fits Madonna perfectly. This entire performance takes place on the Great Hall staircase. No other set was needed. The art is all right there, the Knights in Armor exhibit is off to the left, etc. The only thing they added was a red curtain for her to come out from behind. Simply stunning performance.

RIP, Seymour. Quite the ear, and eye, for spotting talent.
The Met Gala performance was good- she carried some of it (notably the mix) over to Eurovision and the MX Tour.

I also bought this when it came out back in the day, I remember living for this whole era and wanted every single. I think NRM is my favorite song and single from that era/album. Although all the singles were fantastic.

I stumbled across an article in Rolling Stone about "horrible albums made by brilliant artists." American Life made the list... American LifeArticles like this only echo reputations associated to projects by loud mouthpieces. Like the idea that โwe built this cityโ is the worst song of all time. No itโs not. Stop. But at some point, it was decided by someone or a radio poll that it was and now itโs a label that song it stuck with. Similarly, American Life got poor reviews in the beginning and itโs stuck with the album, even if it has aged well with time and is probably even deemed underappreciated nowadays. Publications like this will stick with old labels because itโs expected of them. Thereโs no thought put into lists like these because they go by thoughts and opinions already put out there, even if itโs old and outdated.

What I would say about all this is that they are critiquing it as a bad album by a brilliant artist. Every artist releases something in their repertoire that doesn't measure up to something else they have released. They did not say this is the worst album ever released in the history of time. They are saying she is brilliant, but this album is not. For me, I would not say this is her worst album in her catalog, for me that album is Madame X. There are some good moments on that album, but overall, not her best work in my opinion. Others say MDNA is awful...others say I'm Breathless...etc. It is not science and concrete, it is purely opinion.
