I think part of Madonna's streaming numbers is most of her biggest tracks are on at least 3 albums - the album they debuted on, TIC or GHV2, and Celebration. So I think she suffers from some fragmentation. I'd be curious what the combined streams of her biggest hits are.

Oh wow I didn't even notice that. Fair enough, but then what about Mariah? LOL. Cyndi Lauper is very much alive and kicking ass thanks to Kinky Boots. As for Mariah...well...you don't wanna go there, particularly in this thread. Right, @pma2015 ? Thanks for the tag daahling but I'm busy listening to a living legend and QWEEN. The QWEEN of soul that is. To say today is vocal Friday is an understatement. It's Aries diva month.

‘A League Of Their Own’ Series in the Works at AmazonLet's hope it is better than that horrid series they did after the movie came out. It was so bad. You would think it would be great since a lot of the original cast was in it. (Minus Madonna and Gena Davis) In the original series, Wendy Makkena, the shy quiet nun from Sister Act, played Madonna's character "Mae Mordabito." Such a miscast. I always loved this dance sequence from the film. It really highlights that Madonna is a dancer and not just a singer who has good rhythm. Notice that she is dancing with Carmine from "Laverne & Shirley". It also reminds me of this dance sequence from Evita, "Buenos Aires."

I’m pretty sure Spotify combines ‘versions’ but even if not, most if not all major artists have multiple hits compilations and are in the same boat.

Madonna’s been terribly mismanaged when it comes to YouTube. It’s such a shame. All the low quality videos all over the place or not at all. You would think someone of her stature would get the best management in the business.
As for streaming, the “dead” comment was quite telling.
How do you look up these numbers?

I didn't buy the Celebration DVD, but many had reported serious issues with the quality of many of the videos that were included on it. I do know that there were many quality and other issues with the Celebration CD. It's a shame that for an artist of her stature, there is no quality control whatsoever. Even if they did the Celebration release for the sole purpose of finishing out her WB contract obligations, that's so awful that it would be that poorly mismanaged. They could have tapped into one of these re-release/deluxe edition specialists like Rhino or Edsel and have them do the CD and the DVD.

You would think someone of her stature would get the best management in the business. Yeah her older stuff is on the Warner Bros channel, not her page like newer videos. Still, if you search for Madonna or the song titles, they are there. Her biggest videos: “Bitch I’m Madonna” - 266 million “Hung Up” - 152 million “La Isla Bonita” - 77 million “Give It 2 Me” - 65 million “Lke A Prayer” - 53 million “4 Minutes” - 52 million You can obviously search by video on YouTube and see totals. For Spotify if you search for an artist and go to their page, it will show you the recent top 5 (mobile) or top 10 (computer) for an artist and the overall totals for those songs. You can find totals for other songs, too, but not quite as easily. Her current top 5 there: “Like A Prayer” - 60.8 million “4 Minutes” - 54.5 million “Material Girl” - 53.1 million “Hung Up” - 43.0 million “Like A Virgin” - 35.1 million

SO I was reading an article about celebrity weddings and expensive wedding gowns. Madonna's gown for her wedding to Guy Ritchie was featured, as it cost $80k. What is interesting is the style of her gown / tiara she wore to her wedding resembles the opening look to her MDNA Tour. I am thinking it intentional. The MDNA album is often considered her "divorce album" and has lots of digs to Guy Ritchie in it. The opening tour look was almost identical to her wedding gown, but just in black. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedEdit: And I see someone else made the comparison as well. MDNA: An Underrated Breakup Album

I'd be interested in a new A League of Their Own series. Though not sure it could be a "modern take" on the story, if it's taking place in 1943, as noted.

I took "modern take" to mean that it is going to be a new telling of that period of baseball, as opposed to a remake of the movie or a direct sequel.

Highest rated female Billboard www.billboard.com/articles/columns/music-festivals/513699/top-coachella-performances-ever-bestTop 22 Coachella Performances Ever From The Cure breaking curfew to Madonna dazzling the dance tent to Tupac's on-stage resurrection, these are the 20 moments that helped make Coachella the king of all U.S. festivals. On April 13 -- and then again on April 20 -- thousands of sun-worshipping music fans will head out to the desert in Indio, Calif. for the start of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The Weeknd, Beyoncé (in her promised make-up appearance from last year) and Eminem will headline the weekend, with stars like SZA, Post Malone, Migos, alt-J, Kygo, Portugal. The Man, and a very pregnant Cardi B also taking the stage along with dozens of other indie bands, dance and hip-hop acts to keep the tunes going nonstop on the festival's five stages.  As we gear up for this year's six long, loud days on the Empire Polo Field, we look back at 22 of the most memorable moments from Coachella's past.  22. Pharrell Williams Brings The Hits -- And Famous Friends (2014) 21. Pavement Gets The Band Back Together (2010) 20. M83 Blows Out The Mojave Tent (2012) 19. Lana Del Rey Becomes A Can't-Miss Performer (2014) 18. Blur's Triumphant Return To The States (2013) 17. Lady Gaga Strips Down "Edge of Glory," Then Leaves Crowd "Speechless" (2017) 16. Calvin Harris Finds Love Alongside Rihanna (2012) 15. Outkast Stays So Fresh, So Clean (2014) 14. Skrillex & Korn Destroy The Sahara Tent (2011) 13. Jay & Bey Stay 'Young Forever' (2010) 12. Phoenix Gets Remixed By R. Kelly (2013) 11. Kanye West Brings the 'Power' (2011) 10. The Cure Can't Be Stopped (2009) 9. Kendrick Lamar Live Debuts DAMN. (2017) 8. Roger Waters' Pig Takes Flight (2008) 7. Arcade Fire Blows Minds With Beach Balls (2011) 6. Madonna Rules the Dance Tent (2006) Coachella purists raised their eyebrows when organizers announced the addition on Madonna -- the most mainstream act the alt-rock-leaning event had ever booked -- as the Sahara dance tent's headlining act in 2006. But Madge proved that she belonged in the desert as she delivered a dynamic 30-minute set of club hits that had everybody but the Tool fans shaking their asses 5. Dre & Snoop Resurrect Tupac (2012) 4. Prince Parties Like It's 1984 (2008) 3. Pixies Sell Out (2004) 2. Rage in the Desert (2007) 1. Daft Punk's Pyramid Lights Up the Night (2006)

That would make sense, Rebel- just sounded... ya know. :)
Madonna, with her rock-attitude approach to her work and earning the respect of many in the rock world, was a good choice for Coachella. Interesting that her appearance came in COADF era, but, hey, even more of a "alt" choice in that regard. And we've seen mainstream acts booked/play in her wake.

i remember those days very well, and I was so jealous of all the people who went to Coachella. It was basically a Mmad reunion.

Madonna's music isn't interesting anymore because of all the trend-chasing, I feel like if she collabs with Cardi it's gonna be another cliche trap song about being a bad bitch or whatever. I want something more cool and original like Ray Of Light again, at this point Madonna isn't gonna have another hit, her commercial days are over. But the least she can do is put out an actual great critically acclaim album, Bowie's commercial days dried up and he still released some really great albums afterwards.

But Cardi has adapted her style to mesh with other artists she collaborated with. She even sang a little on that Spanish song she did earlier this year and even a little on her own new album. In a video in which Cardi anonymously joined in and answered questions about herself on social media, she mentioned that one of her favorite songs to dance to when she worked as a stripper was Madonna's "Erotica".

I’m down with Mirwais collaborating with M and bringing some reflective melodic music to the album. He has an album coming out soon called Dark Storm and maybe she is contributing to it. My guess is she will have other producers on her album and I’m hoping Patrick Leonard will join in.

Not really chasing a trend when you are the one who gave him mainstream success in the first place. Looking forward to seeing where this ends up. Could be a William Orbit type scenario....where he did an entire album for you and then you brought him in on subsequent releases for a song here and there. Mirwais might now be doing the entire album.

Music had some damn fine tracks on it. AL took things even further in terms of "folktronica," but wasn't as satisfying )(and obviously, not as appealing/relevant to the general listening audience- see the theme of the first two singles).
I do wish she wouldn't worry too much about connecting to a young audience- she's going to be 60, and, unfortunately, the youth of today isn't likely to give her new music much mind. But, she's Madonna and will do waht she wants (hence the thread title hehe). If someone like Cardi B. features on her track and inspired younger people to check Madonna's new music out to some degree, then, I guess that wouldn't be a bad thing- as long as it's not something in the vein of "B**ch (I'm Madonna)."

Agreed. I thought I would never say this about any of Madonna’s music, but to me, BIM was tragic.
