Iβll make more comments tonight, but Iβll just say that Better Be Good To Me better be out soon! Itβs my only bottom 10 song left. Love Tina but that song shouldβve been out awhile ago

Wasn't expecting Dire Straits to last this long, unless I missed them.

And with REO Speedwagon gone, that leaves one bottom ten for me: My #91. I knew that would be my last bottom ten, though. I don't think that it will win, but I'm worried that it'll be that artist's highest song here.
"One Night in Bangkok" did better than I expected, honestly, so I'm fine with where it went out. Beyond that, I didn't really lose anything of big significance in this update, which is a pleasant surprise.

50. Lover Girl (77): This one wasn't played back home, so I heard it only in the late 1990s. I do appreciate her talent and vocal performance here... I actually gave her extra points for that... the song itself was just not convincing to me. 49. Sussudio (43): A personal and country chart-topper. I'm very glad that this made the top 50! It's very 1980s with the whole brass section typical of several Phil Collins songs. 48. Can't Fight This Feeling (23): :( Back at that time, I 'liked' this song, so it 'only' reached top 5... with time, it became one of my favorite REO songs and 80s ballads. I really like the vocal performance, and the whole instrumentation. 47. The Wild Boys (6): WTF??!!!! >:( :'( This is an utter surprise. My favorite Duran Duran song ever. It's epic both musically and vocally. A personal and country chart-topper and a song that has remained as strong as ever. Deserved a spot in the top 20... 46. Oh Sheila (69): I'm one of those who thought this was a Prince song back in the day. That percussion sound and vocal style are all Prince-influenced. The song is however a bit on the 'simpler' side, with strong instrumentation but a bit too much of the same beat/sound throughout the song. 45. I'm On Fire (90): It was hard for me to rank this one. I love the nostalgic feeling of it, and Bruce's vocal take. I've always wished it had something else, though, either a bridge or some additional vocal nuance. Anyway. Won't complain though, as It's a song I do have a soft space for. 44. One Night In Bangkok (55): A personal top 5, and a song that won me with its non-conventionalism. The instrumental intro, the spoken verses, the super melodic chorus, and the varied instrumentation throughout the song make it an experience worth hearing. 43. The Heat Is On (59): A personal and country chart-topper, and a song that has had good longevity back home. With time, I grouped it with songs like Neutron Dance and Walking on Sunshine that have this Summer party vibe, but this one has had reduced about its appeal to me with time. I'm just crossing fingers that his other song doesn't appear soon... 42. Don't Lose My Number (56): Another strong song from Phil that topped my personal and country charts. I like the verses a bit more than the chorus, but overall it's a strong 80s pop song. 41. I Want To Know What Love Is (16): Knowing Pulse's preferences, I was expecting this to be tanked, so at least I'm happy that it reached the top half of this RD. This is one of my favorite epic 1980s ballads, with a mix of gospel and power ballad. Sad to see the 3rd top 20 of my RD gone :((

great update. A few of these even made my top 100 of 1985. ;)
#50. Lovergirl - Teena Marie R.I.P. Teena Marie. This was great song. She had other funky jams like "I Need Your Lovin", "Square Biz".
#49. Sussusdio - Phil Collins (DOC #92) This was one of my favorite Phil Collins solo deals. This climbed to #17 on my personal charts.
#48. Can't Fight This Feeling - REO Speedwagon (DOC #62) One of the best Pop ballads of the 80's. These are the top 50 songs. I was kind of worried you guys would tank this one early on. I'm glad that wasn't the case. This was a big top 5 hit on my charts.
#47. The Wild Boys - Duran Duran (DOC #41) A great song. Among Duran Duran classics; I would say this is a fare slot for the song. This was Duran Duran going for big Arena sound, and it worked. I myself took it Top 3 status.
#46. Oh Sheila - Ready For The World (DOC #8) Wow! This is my biggest loss tonight. I could have sworn I would be the highest ranker for this song. I always loved this Prince- like Funk, groove ,in the 80's ;R&B songs had. The synths, The vocals, and the sultry lyrics. I never again felt this passionate, of R&B as I did in the 80's. 8 weeks at #2 put it in my top 10 songs of 1985.
#45. I'm On Fire - Bruce Springsteen This one was alright. gave it some Top 40 action for a few weeks. I'm glad "Glory Days" is still in this.
#44. One Night In Bangkok - Murray Head This was a personal Top 20 hit on my charts. I always wondered if It a Novalty song?, A Disco song or a New Wave song? Years later I learned it was written by ABBA.
#43. The Heat Is On - Glenn Frey I prefer "Smuggler's Blues" myself, but this one was a good poprocker.
#42. Don't Lose My Number - Phil Collins This is one of those times, when I ended up liking this song much more later in life. Even more than "Sussudio"
#41. I Want To Know What Love Is - Foreigner I love Foreigner rockers, but never really dug their Power ballads. Probably because they were not that powerful? The one ballad, of their's I dug was "Waiting For A Girl Like You"

These last ten are the ones that just missed my top 40 of 1985. Everything form Poprock, to Freestyle, Glam Metal and good ol' fashion Rock 'n Roll. 50. Wonder If I'd Take You Home - Lisa Lisa & The Cult Jam (BB #34) (DOC #4)This song is a jam. I remember first hearing when my dad took me along with him to his job. The girls in the office were jamming to it. One of the first songs that got me into Freestyle. 49. And We Danced - The Hooters (BB #21) (DOC #5)I didn't even know the word "hooters" had a double meaning back then. ;) All I know that this was a damn catchy song. I would have loved for it to be in Billboard's Top 100 of 1985. 47. Summertime Girls - Y&T (BB #55) (DOC #4)We are up to one of my favorite party rock songs of 1985. Y&T were known for their Heavy Metal songs like "Mean Streak" and "Don't Stop Running". This Van Halen; sounding wonder ,became their biggest charting hit on the Hot 100. This song got an easy ride into my top 5. Especially with a delicious MV like that. BTW, you can hear the Van Halen "Jump" influence all over the melody. 45. I'm Going Down - Bruce Springsteen (BB #9) (DOC #5)Here is one that just missed the Billboard top 100 of 1985. Don't know why, since it's such a bop of a classic. Too bad it never got a proper Music Video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FDePd-mHOL444. Somebody - Bryan Adams (BB #13) (DOC #4)The Canandians have always captured my heard with thier brand of Rock. This song, is just one more reason ,Bryan Adams is one of my favorite artists of all time. I gave every single from "Reckless" top 10 action. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqhELBUdYqM42. Don't Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (BB #13) (DOC #4)Another great song, Billboard gave #13 peak to. I remember this video was one of the most played on MTV. It deserves a classic MTV award. R.I.P. Tom Petty, for one of the best rockers in music history. One of a kind vocals too.

Reckless > Private Dancer I agree. Reckless as album is better than Private Dancer, the album. Now, Private Dancer, the song, is better than anything in Reckless.

Reckless > Private Dancer Is this a hint your #100 is Tina Turner? Absolutely not (though the rush job on Private Dancer is audible in the album, that's besides the point). My #100 is from someone who has multiple entries though. I can't hear Solid without thinking of Arrested Development.

The bridge for ATTN knocked it down by at least twenty spots for me.

This is ok and all (in a weaker year, it'd have been top 30 likely), but I prefer her other song from the soundtrack. The video is a riot as well.

Only three top 20 rankings for this masterpiece? Boo! it was kept out of No. 1 by another "city" song, that being "We Built This City" by Starship Disgusting.
