Yeahhhh I can't stand Eric Carmen apparently! Lose Control was my #99. It's hard to explain but it's not that his were bad songs on their face, but that the production/melody was too on the nose, to the point of being completely devoid of human feeling. The verses start off fine, if unremarkable, but when both songs flip into the hook something about it sounds like the music I would hear in an elevator on the way to the second circle of hell.This is me, but Chicago. 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | 10 | 11 | 12 | 13 | 14 | 16 | 17 | 19 | 20 | 21 | 22 | 23 | 24 28 | 34 | 41 | 45 | 48 61 | 63 88 That's a pretty good ratio, though I guess we just have to make room for one song in my lower ranks making it to the top 30 in every one of these 80s RDs now. I truly did not realize this many people liked that Cher song. It was the only one of my bottom half rankings I was surprised was still around. But with how 80s Heart has been treated I guess this makes sense.
After that, I have 7 bottom 50s left. All but one are from multiple-song artists. 3 of these artists are/were also present in my top half.

I should have ranked this higher based off the "I am descending from heaven above" lyric alone. And what do all you 'Hungry Eyes' tankers have against Yacht Rock? I'll showcase a few of these MV's when I post them in my own YE list. #40. Catch Me (I'm Falling) - Pretty PoisonReally happy this song made the top 40. Dance Pop with a bit of Freestyle thrown in. I loved the fact that most Freestyle artists pretty much dressed like Glam Rockers. Plus the songs also featured a fierce Guitar solo. #39. I Get Weak - Belinda CarlisleDecent little song. I'm glad "You Give Love A Bad Nna....sorry, I mean "Heaven Is A Place On Earth is still in. I always confuse the two. #38. Hungry Eyes - Eric CarmenThis song has its moments. Sounds good every three years or so. #37. Girlfriend - Pebbles Hot babe Alert. I always liked this song. I believe Paula Abdul ripped off her style, but made a better version of this song with "Cold Hearted" #36. Sorry for derailing the groove a bit, as I was unable to check Pulse for 1.5 weeks (work trip to London after personal commitments in Lima). 100. I donāt wanna live without your love (88): kinda flop back home, and didnāt do much in my personal chart either. Iām a Chicago supporter most of the times, but I couldnāt put this higher 99. Couldāve been (70): This one didnāt make my personal chart. I wasnāt too much into this kind of ballads. She did a not-so-bad job with this one, though. I mean her voice wasnāt that well suited for this type of song but at least she emoted very well. Wasnāt that bad to end up in bottom 5 IMO. Tiffanyās biggest hit back home came in 1988, with her feminine cover of The Beatlesā hit. It reached the top of our national charts and it was her second personal chart-topper back in June ā88. Plus, later that year the second favorite pop radio station added Out of my Heart to their playlist and managed to get a top 10 position in its weekly chart. In my chart it reached the runner-up spot in October. Only now Iāve found out that it wasnāt a single in the US but the b-side to her final single of this album (!) 98. Wait (99): Ew! Lol. A clear bottom 5 to me. I saw this as them trying to rock but failing miserably in their attempt 97. One good woman (60): this one made my personal top 5, Peterās second and last one. I still like the melody and music of this one... but I predicted this was gonna be bottom 5 anyway :/ 96. Donāt worry be happy (25): huh?? This is a guilty pleasure. It didnāt make my personal ranking that year as I didnāt quite get this song back then, but soon afterwards I got to like it. The whole melody and happy / positive feelings that it triggered were enough factors to make me like it and still bop to it once in awhile. Surprised itās this hated here... 95. I still believe (83): this wasnāt played back home. I only learned about it after Mariahās version. Iāve never been a big fan of the song itself in either version though. Itās worth noting that she did manage a top 5 back home with What you see is what you get, a song that reached the top of my personal chart in November :) she was considered as another Madonna-influenced female pop singer because of this song. I actually liked the extended mix better, as it had some Spanish in the second bridge :) 94. Just like paradise (98): Blah of a song. Clear bottom 5 for me. 93. Make it real (87): I like the chorus melody but thatās pretty much it. The verses seem to be after thoughts... 92. A groovy kind of love (68): a personal and national top 5 back in the day. I still think he did a good job with this cover, making it his version 91. Hold on to the nights (96): meh song at that time and still meh now... heās had several much better songs tho 90. I donāt wanna live without you (69): This was a personal top 3. I really liked it back then and it brought lots of good memories listening to it again for this RD. They will manage to get another personal top 5 a few years later with Until the end of time. 89. Iāll always love you (79): like other r&b ballads, this one didnāt make my personal chart. With time, Iāve grown to like it a bit more, although still outside my top 5 TD songs. A cover of this song by Tito Nieves was popular in Latin America, and made the top 5 of my personal Tropical chart 88. Make me lose control (73): it made my personal top 10, and I thought I was gonna put this around my top 50... but the verses were too cheesy for me now the chorus still sounds good to me tho 87. Donāt be cruel (51): this was a hit back home and a runner-up in my personal chart. Really good cover that brought new life to this classic -sad to see it this low here 86. Naughty girls need love too (17): WTF??!!! I was a fan of this song back then. It became her second top 5 in my personal chart, following Touch Me. It wasnāt even a popular song back home, but after I heard the song and watched the video I became a BIG fan of it (and Iād pay attention to the last seconds of the video ). I still like the song quite a bit. The beat, production, melody are ace. And my partner is a huge SF fan so I play her music more often :) in any case, this is FAR better than many songs in this chart. Hey, if this were recorded by Britney Iām sure Pulse would consider it better than Slave

85 When itās love (71): Their last great song was Why canāt this be love. This had a good chorus and guitars but verses were letdown and overall just not as strong. 84 Rocket 2 u (85): I thought I was gonna rank this a bit lower, but it kept growing on me. Sounds a bit like a Kool and the Gang song. Donāt recall hearing this in the 80s 83 Nothing but a good time (97): this has always sounded a bit laughable to me. I liked it a bit more back in the day, but now itās just too bland for me. However, their next single was something else. A big hit back home and a personal chart topper that I still use once in a while. Maybe not really rock but catchy pop-rock, with a good video- also in high rotation back home 82 Sheās like the wind (45): I know thereās usually little love for ballads in 80s rankdowns, but I was hoping the quality of this song could help avoid misfortune. He did a great job singing, as did Wendy Fraser in background vocals. The melody and production are also spot on IMO. Surprisingly good. It wasnāt popular back home in 1988, but it made a splash in the 1989 charts when for some random reason was added to the playlist of a popular radio station ( they also added songs like Nazarethās Love Hurts and Rockwellās Knife, which became big hits as well...) 81 I want to be your man (100): I really tried to like it better than in the NJS rankdown but man Iām clearly not into this one at all 80 Perfect world (64): this was HL&TNās last hit back home and their last song to reach the top of my personal chart. I hadnāt heard it in a long time and still sounds kinda cool. 79 Hands to heaven (92): I liked it a bit more back in 88, but still wasnāt a big fan of this ballad. Kinda too much cheese for me... 78 One moment in time (26): this one reached the top of my personal chart, and I still like its epic ness including that key change and those crisp and clear, effortless vocals. And Iām always up for a positive, optimistic song :) 77 Anything for you (38): A song that I really liked back in the day, but in Spanish (No te olvidarĆ© or I wonāt forget you), as that was the version played back home the most. It reached the top of my personal Latin Pop chart. The lyrics in Spanish are less submissive (? Lol) tho: āNo te olvidare a pesar que sufri, No me arrepentire porque de ti aprendi, Que a veces el amor no es lo que esperasā (I wonāt forget you even though I hurt, I wonāt regret it because I learned from you, that sometimes love aināt what you expect). Quite low for this good song with pretty vocals and that final brass-based minute. 76 Canāt stay away from you (56): a top 20 of my personal (English) chart that Iāve liked more with time. I really like the instrumentation, vibe and vocals here. Gloria was done dirty in this set!! 75 Donāt you know what the night can do (93): this one has never done anything for me. It didnāt make my personal chart back then, and it has aged like milk. How on earth is this higher than Samantha Fox, Beach Boys or Gloria Estefan??!! 73 The valley road (90): I love TWII, and like Mandolin Rain. This one barely made my personal top 25 back then. The music is good but the melody isnāt as strong and the verses are almost disposable IMO. 72 Foolish beat (20): WHAT?!! Another top 20 loss this was DGās first personal chart topper. The song wasnāt that popular back home but I loved it since I first heard it. The melody and music (sax included) are pretty good, and that unusual lower key at the beginning of the chorus made it even more distinct. Plus she sang it greatly. A nice little gem of the 80s. This doesnāt bode well for Lost in your Eyes :ā( 71 Kokomo (22): a big hit back home and a personal chart-topper. My class of the institute to learn English chose this song to perform live, and I had the solo for the final part of the chorus :) great memories!! Plus the tropical beach sound was great too. Come on people, this is a top 50 type of song!
