All of Samantha Fox's hits sound like rejected demos. Initially in my bottom 10, and then moved up when I dropped some others.
I came into this expecting to put Cheap Trick very low...and then it didn't happen Β―\_(γ)_/Β―. Foreigner ended up higher for me than I thought too. They plummeted in quality after 4, but were nowhere near the worst here.
The right Taylor Dayne song went out first, I have the other two quite high.

I figured "She's Like the Wind" might escape the bottom ten, given that no one predicted that it might finish bottom five...but good lord, was that song bad. I ranked it below a Chicago song. Perhaps I shouldn't have ranked it below Chicago, though, that's kind of cruel.
I think I'm down to one bottom ten, and it's the one I expected to lose last.

DISGRAZIA! Sam and Full Force were the original Britney and Danja. Lisa Lisa didn't perform as well as I anticipated in the 1987 rankdown either so I suspect there is a bias against songs that make you DANCE. All of Samantha Fox's hits sound like rejected demos. ...shut the f*ck up! |

This set here is really weird. The only songs I really agree with are Foreigner's sell out ballad and Eric Carmen. These would have been better slots for some of my bottom ten travesties.
#90. I Don't Want To Live Without You - Foreigner
The only time you will see me put a Foreigner song in the bottom 10. They had a few great power ballads. I loved "Waiting For A Girl Like You" but this was a total pop sellout.
#89. I'll Always Love You - Taylor Dayne
I generally preferred the dance NRG songs from Bands Expose, Cover Girls, Sweet Sensation and Taylor Dayne, but I will always upgrade them a bit for the vocals, which sounded great to me to begin with.
#88. Make Me Lose Control - Eric Carmen
Ex Rasberries lead vocalists never did much to gain my interest. This song was just balnd all over.
#87. Don't Be Cruel - Cheap Trick
I always loved Cheap trick. As far as classic Rock N' Roll covers go, this one was 100% pure party rock. Loved Elvis original too, but Cheap Trick hit that perfect bullseye.
#86. Naughty Girls (Need Love Too) - Samantha Fox
No way I'll put a Samantha Fox hit anywhere below top 30. I loved her accent the most, Gave her a unique tone. BTW, I'll take award for being the only PULSE member to chart Samantha Fox in 2018.
#85. When It's Love - Van Halen
I really couldn't get into the Van Halen Power ballads. Hagar's vocals were too gruff for ballads. best V.H. ballad is the Roth sung "I'll Wait"
#84. Rocket 2 U - The Jets
To begin with, I always enjoyed the Jets. Musically and Vocally. Much better than some of their bigger 80's counterparts.This song had a cool funky vibe.
#83. Nothin' But A Good Time - Poison
I Can't believe someone else ranked a Poison song higher than me. That's unheard of. Glam Metal is my Rock drug of choice. From now to the day I die. The best vibes, Best Guitar Licks, best Music Videos, Best hair and best lyrics. "I spend my money on women and Wine, but I couldn't tell you where I spent last night". Can't get more Party Rock than that. At least its higher here than the actual 1988 Top 100. It will be much much higher on my own personal year end chart.

I never realized PULSE hated Ballads so much. This is a nice song and it showcases Patrick Swayze's vocal talents. His vocals would have been tops for Country Music. Just saying.

Not even R&B funk classics are safe with this bunch. From the looks of it, unless its Prince, or Michael and Janet Jackson, nothing else R&B funk before the 1990's gets any love here. That's a real shame too. Anyway,This song was originally credited to Zapp featuring Roger, That is why Roger uses the effects in his vocals. I thought it gave it a unique sound. Very romantic lyrics. This one also appears on a lot of "Oldies" classics compilations.

Definitely didnβt expect it to barely miss the bottom 10! Not too mad about most of the other losses so far.
