I'm so glad this song survived this long! It would've probably been my #1, but I expected it be out a long time ago. I'm surprised it beat out Walkaway Joe!

The battle for #1 is between the song with the most #1 rankings vs. the song with the most top 10 rankings. Which is which? And which will be #1?
She's In Love With The Boy vs. XXX's And OOO's (An American Girl)

YAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY, this is an absolutely PERFECT top 3!!!!!!!!! "She's In Love With The Boy", "XXXs and OOOs", and "I Would've Loved You Anyway" are all in my top 5, and are definitely solid representations of Trisha's power as an artist!!!!! I'm gonna have to go google the lyrics or something before I take a stab at that hint.... Lol Also someguy I am TOTALLY here to finish this tonight!!!!! I am on the edge of my seat now that I see how amazing the top 3 is!

Oh, you posted #3 while I was typing... Lol. Amazing top 2!!!! I honestly don't care which one wins, because they both rock. I think I'll go with the underdog and support "XXXs and OOOs"!!!!

I, too, am shocked to see "I Would've Loved You Anyway" survive until #3. For whatever reason, I thought it would be a song that had a high amount of ambivalence to offset the love that it received, helping it finish in the lower top 10 despite nobody necessarily hating it. I'm SO happy I was wrong! I would have loved to see that song take the whole thing The melody is so unique but cool, and the musical intro is one of my favorites from any song. Of course, having it leave now means that the race for the top 2 is much more exciting! I still couldn't see IWLYA winning the whole thing, so if it had beat one huge uptempo hit to place in the top 2, it would have made it obvious that the other huge uptempo hit was going to be the winner. Kinda like what just happened in Martina's Shine RD when "I Just Call You Mine" beat "Ride" into the top 2, which pretty much guaranteed to people that "Wrong Baby Wrong" was going to be the winner because "Ride" was the only other one that seemed a likely competitor

The top 2 does seem to be Trisha's standout songs from the general impression that I'm getting from Pulse, so those two being the top two are really great! I'm really pleased that my #1 ("Everybody Knows") made it all the way to #4!!

3 points separate our top two. I'm still working on the write ups, but will be done soon!

3 points separate our top two. I'm still working on the write ups, but will be done soon! One of them is my #2 and the other is my #3, so I didn't really help or hurt the gap in either direction!

#2 – “XXX’s And OOO’s (An American Girl)”Billboard Country Airplay peak: #1 Highest Ranking: #2 bboat11 Lowest Ranking : #22 DistrictTwelveTotal Points: 137 Average Rank: 8.5625 bboat11 – 2 someguy – 4 castleoblivion26 – 4 sabre14 – 4 Troublemaker – 5 LBTrocks – 5 Tim – 6 austin – 7 fearlessarrow – 7 toomuchboy – 7 Kanenrá:ke – 8 BackwoodsBarbie – 8 Cody Wants Out... – 10 .indulgecountry – 19 sbp17 – 19 DistrictTwelve – 22 Following: dub“XXX’s And OOO’s (An American Girl)” was originally supposed to be the theme song to a TV sitcom. The pilot never got picked up to series, but Trisha walked away with a hit. She kept the song, and released it as a single, and it became her second #1. The song was destined for TV life, as it would become the theme song to Trisha’s Southern Kitchen, nearly two decades later. Trisha was at an event with Aretha Franklin (who is referenced in the song) years later. Trisha performed the song, and overheard one of Aretha’s entourage tell Aretha “that country girl is singing about you”. Trisha said that that was one of the most special moments of her career. “XXX’s And OOO’s” is also significant because it was one of the first instances of a song being released as a single, and then a second single (“Thinkin’ About You”) getting released before the album. This is largely due to the sitcom issue, but it would usher in a trend years later. It would become the first single to 1995's Thinkin' About You. In terms of our rankdown, this never spent time at #1, but it was top 2-3 the entire time, despite only receiving one top 3 ranking. Though it finished only 3 points out of #1, that was almost exclusively due to LBTrocks. Otherwise, there was a gap between this and “She’s In Love With The Boy”, that was never closed despite 13 out of 16 rankings being in the top 10. #1 – “She’s In Love With The Boy”Billboard Country Airplay peak: #1 Highest Ranking: #1 Tim toomuchboy Troublemaker Lowest Ranking : #35 LBTrocksTotal Points: 134 Average Rank: 8.375 Tim – 1 toomuchboy – 1 Troublemaker – 1 someguy – 2 castleoblivion26 – 2 sabre14 – 2 fearlessarrow – 2 bboat11 – 3 austin – 4 BackwoodsBarbie – 5 Cody Wants Out... – 5 DistrictTwelve – 8 Kanenrá:ke – 11 .indulgecountry – 21 sbp17 – 31 LBTrocks – 35 Following: dubWas our winner going to be anything else? “She’s In Love With The Boy” was Trisha’s career song from the moment it was released in 1991. Her debut single shot straight to #1, and helped her earn a nomination for the CMA Horizon Award, as well as the 1991 ACM award for Top New Female Vocalist. It still is widely recognized as her biggest hit. As soon as it reached #1 here (taking over from “The Song Remembers When” after about 5 lists), it held on and never let go, despite a late #35 ranking from LBTrocks.

I pretty much figured "She's In Love With The Boy" was going to be the biggest contender for the #1 spot from the moment this rankdown started. And even though it is one of her most heavily overplayed songs, I am not upset at all. This song is one of the most classic songs of my lifetime, and I love everything about it! It's pretty rare for an artist's debut single to blow up the way this one did and go on to be their biggest hit, so it is kinda exciting to see that happen here. I'm pretty sure Dierks Bentley's rankdown is the only other time this has happened? Awesome job hosting someguy! I hope you enjoyed doing your first rankdown!

It also reached #44 on the Hot 100, becoming her biggest hit on that chart. Didn't "How Do I Live" reach the 20s? I am shocked, too.

Not surprised that "She's in the Love with the Boy" won because it is the predictable choice, but I do wish something else had won because it's far from her absolute best and radio's insistence that it's like her only hit makes it a little overrated imo, lol. Happy to see everyone but LBTrocks liked "Georgia Rain" and didn't tank it so it made Top 10 at least. <3 Thanks for the rankdown, someguy!

I wanted to keep quiet, but I doubt that I can hold it in any longer (story of my life tbh): I'm not really a fan of an artist's debut single winning their respective rankdown, generally speaking. Don't get me wrong; this isn't meant to be a knock on Trisha or "She's in Love With the Boy". To me, when an artist's debut single wins their respective rankdown, it tells me that Pulse as a collective wasn't really impressed with their later material, even if they got a bigger hit later on in their career. I still remember "What Was I Thinkin'" winning the Dierks rankdown and I was honestly a little disappointed about it, but not that surprised. In the future, I'll probably launch the Brooks & Dunn rankdown some time this summer, but I'm actually worried that "Brand New Man" will walk away a winner (still a really strong single from these guys btw). I may or may not have inadvertently gave a nod to a song that will appear in my '94 Country RD. Does any of this make sense?

Top 10 is a strong possibility for sure, but it is FAR from being their biggest hit. Whereas "She's In Love With The Boy" is pretty much Trisha's biggest and most well-known hit. With Brooks & Dunn, there are probably a half dozen contenders for the title of "most well-known", and "Brand New Man" isn't even one of them. That being said, I would LOVE to see "Brand New Man" win because it is incredible! But I would be happy with literally 75% of Brooks & Dunn's hits winning that RD, so I'll be easy to please when it comes time to do that RD

Thanks to someguy for hosting this! I've actually only seen Trisha live once...and that was back in 1993 when she was on tour with Travis Tritt and Little Texas. She actually captured this little 10 year old's boy heart and I've been of a fan of her's ever since...I literally remember falling in love with her voice in that moment. "She's In Love With a Boy" might be the predictable choice for some of you, but it's also the song that little boys like me fell in love with while we were growing up with country music

She's In Love With The Boy really is a predictable winner but this song has grown on me a lot in last couple of months so I'm Ok with it winning. If we would do this rankdown a year ago I would probably rank it near the bottom of my list because i remember disliking it upon first listen and I never gave it a second chance until a few months ago. I'm a little surprised that XXX's And OOO's (An American Girl) ended up so high and I'm very surprised that Everybody Knows finished at 4th place. I have nothing against Everybody Knows it's an alright song but It's not her 4th best song. I'm happy that Walkaway Joe made it to top 5 beacuse it's such an amazing song. I liked it ever since I first heard it and it is one of my all time favourite songs. I love almost all her piano ballads but this one is just the best of them all. The story it told, her voice sounds so great and the piano paints the perfect atmosphere. I love this song! Talking about piano ballads - I'm a little disappointed that most of them were eliminated before top 10. I mean she has such an amazing voice that she can sing anything she wants but I think that she sounds the best just singing next to piano so that her voice can appear in all its beauty (this sounds way better in my language but I just can't find the appropriate english translation xD). I Would've Loved You Anyway, There Goes My Baby, Believe Me Baby (I Lied), Georgia Rain - I'm glad that this 4 songs made it to top 10. They are all great songs and I like them a lot. When it comes to album tracks Melancholy Blue and Nothin Bout Memphis are amazing and I wish they would be released as a single because they are really outstanding and I would place them really high one my list of all time favourite Trisha Yearwood songs. But the thing that makes me really happy is that we might get some new music soon link
