Now each day is one day that's left in her life. She won't know love, have a marriage, or sing lullabies. She lays all alone and cries herself to sleep, 'Cause she let a stranger kill her hopes and her dreams.
20. "She Thinks His Name Was John"
Album: Read My Mind Year: 1994Total: 447Average: 29.80Std Dev: 26.92 (5th largest!!!) toomuchboy - 1tim - 5Kanenrá:ke - 7BackwoodsBarbie - 7Sean - 8someguy - 12sbp17 - 14.indulgecountry - 20BlueShades874 - 34bboat11 - 36castleoblivion26 - 42Cody Wants Out... - 51@adam1995 - 55dub - 59George Strait Junkie - 96zaclord 🌈Kicking off the top 20, toomuchboy becomes the next #1 victim! "She Thinks His Name Was John" was a top 15 hit for Reba back in 1994, but was ultimately torpedoed by the controversy that it created. Although the song doesn't mention the disease specifically, the subject matter deals with a woman who caught HIV/AIDS from a random stranger that she hooked up with at a party when she was drunk. The song follows her life as it literally gets destroyed, and the world was not really ready to hear about it... Lol. However, Reba has never been afraid to shy away from tough subjects, and that's why we love her so much! This song is absolutely mesmerizing, with her perfect vocal delivery. That said, I am a little surprised to see it make the top 20, because it seems like one that some people might find boring. It looks like that might have been the case for George Strait Junkie, who ranked it almost 40 positions lower than the next lowest person, ultimately tanking this song's chances of making the top 15.{Songs Remaining} And Still Consider Me Gone Does He Love You Fancy For My Broken Heart How Was I To Know I’d Rather Ride Around With You Is There Life Out There Little Rock The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia Till You Love Me What Do You Say Whoever’s In New England Why Haven’t I Heard From You You Lie

What I was so afraid of Turned out to be my freedom in disguise.
19. "How Was I To Know"
Album: What If It's You Year: 1996Total: 445Average: 29.67Std Dev: 21.28sbp17 - 4BlueShades874 - 4bboat11 - 7dub - 9someguy - 15BackwoodsBarbie - 19toomuchboy - 23castleoblivion26 - 31tim - 36Cody Wants Out... - 36@adam1995 - 36George Strait Junkie - 41Sean - 49.indulgecountry - 57Kanenrá:ke - 78zaclord 🌈 One of Reba's big '90s #1s leaves now! I remember this song being on the radio when I was a toddler So it comes with a massive dose of nostalgia for me. Actually, the whole What If It's You album does! The song is about somebody who thought they would fall apart when their lover left, only to find out that their life got better, which is a topic that has been done before, but tbh this is one of my favorite versions of that theme. Reba sounds so triumphant here, and I have always really loved the musical arrangement of this song. Only two people ranked this outside the top 50, .indulgecountry and Kanenrá:ke ... However, 4 people lose a top 10 here, including two top 5s from sbp17 and BlueShades874!{Songs Remaining} And Still Consider Me Gone Does He Love You Fancy For My Broken Heart I’d Rather Ride Around With You Is There Life Out There Little Rock The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia Till You Love Me What Do You Say Whoever’s In New England Why Haven’t I Heard From You You Lie

Please, don't say I'm wasting my time.I've got nothin' but time, So I'll do all that I can To catch that ghost of a chance.
18. "Till You Love Me"
Album: Read My Mind Year: 1994Total: 440Average: 29.33Std Dev: 19.97toomuchboy - 3sbp17 - 8BackwoodsBarbie - 15Kanenrá:ke - 16BlueShades874 - 18Cody Wants Out... - 19castleoblivion26 - 21bboat11 - 24tim - 29@adam1995 - 30someguy - 32Sean - 41.indulgecountry - 44dub - 65George Strait Junkie - 75zaclord 🌈 Read My Mind sees its second loss of the night, and second loss overall, as we say goodbye to another one of Reba's numerous '90s #1s. "Till You Love Me" deals with the topic of a narrator who is in love with somebody that doesn't love them back, and they are pledging to just keep waiting. It may not always be the best strategy in real life, but it sure works well to make a badass song! Reba's performance here is powerful and emotional as ever, and the production is very solid to complement the song. I wasn't sure how well this one would do, but I am not at all disappointed to see it do this well! toomuchboy loses his #3 here, right on the heels of losing his #1... George Strait Junkie is once again the lowest ranker for this song, this time him and dub being the only two who didn't put this close to their top 40. {Songs Remaining} And Still Consider Me Gone Does He Love You Fancy For My Broken Heart I’d Rather Ride Around With You Is There Life Out There Little Rock The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia What Do You Say Whoever’s In New England Why Haven’t I Heard From You You Lie

He never calls me honey, But he sure loves his money, And I'm the one who pays the price.
17. "Little Rock"
Album: Whoever's In New England Year: 1986Total: 431Average: 28.73Std Dev: 18.48Cody Wants Out... - 1dub - 11someguy - 13@adam1995 - 15.indulgecountry - 16Kanenrá:ke - 20BackwoodsBarbie - 26George Strait Junkie - 28castleoblivion26 - 29BlueShades874 - 30Sean - 31tim - 38toomuchboy - 42bboat11 - 61sbp17 - 70zaclord 🌈Time to say goodbye to Cody Wants Out...'s #1! "Little Rock", released in 1986, was Reba's followup to her massive career-defining smash "Whoever's In New England", and ultimately became another #1 smash for her. After this 1-2 punch, she was definitely a force to be reckoned with in the country music world! The catchy complex guitar arrangement to this song is a defining feature, but the feistiness in Reba's delivery also helps to make it stand out.
With this song, Whoever's In New England (the album) says goodbye to its first song. That means that For My Broken Heart is Reba's final album to remain intact! I wonder how long it will be before that album loses a song... {Songs Remaining} And Still Consider Me Gone Does He Love You Fancy For My Broken Heart I’d Rather Ride Around With You Is There Life Out There The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia What Do You Say Whoever’s In New England Why Haven’t I Heard From You You Lie

16. "Why Haven't I Heard From You"
Album: Read My Mind Year: 1994Total: 402Average: 26.80Std Dev: 21.77dub - 1Kanenrá:ke - 3@adam1995 - 10George Strait Junkie - 11castleoblivion26 - 11toomuchboy - 15Sean - 18someguy - 22Cody Wants Out... - 25tim - 35sbp17 - 36BlueShades874 - 41BackwoodsBarbie - 42.indulgecountry - 47bboat11 - 85zaclord 🌈Ugh, FINALLY. This song is so obnoxious! I can't believe it is so well-loved! I mean, I am the lowest ranker by like 40 points... Lol. I finally say goodbye to my final bottom 20 here, but dub unfortunately loses his #1, and Kanenrá:ke also takes a top 3 loss.I will say, this song has grown on me through the years to where I will listen to it now if it comes on, but I basically never seek it out. It is just obnoxious to me in the same way that "Take It Back" is. I do like Reba's sassiness in these songs, but melodically I guess they are just not very pleasing.
Ironically, just like "Take It Back", this song led to one of Reba's very best music videos! This one is SO good! It is one of those music videos that is so good it can actually make the song even better. {Songs Remaining} And Still Consider Me Gone Does He Love You Fancy For My Broken Heart I’d Rather Ride Around With You Is There Life Out There The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia What Do You Say Whoever’s In New England You Lie

Wow, Read My Mind is really taking a hit. :(
I will always have a special spot for "Why Haven't I Heard From You", because that is the song that introduced me to Reba, and then to country music. It really got my attention when I first heard it as a kid, so much that I had to know who was singing it, and I went down to the mall and bought the cassette tape of Read My Mind as soon as I could, lol.

TBHWY, I didn't know what to put as my #1 so I just went with that one. :kii:
I will admit that it's very infectious and I love the semi word-play, being that the song isn't focused on the town of Little Rock, but the little rock on her hand that she's gonna pull off!

Wow, Read My Mind is really taking a hit. Unfortunately, your troubles shall continue...
And still, The world stood still. I couldn't move, And all I could feel Was this aching in my heart Saying I loved him still.

This is one of her very best songs! I have loved this one immediately from the moment I heard it The lyrics take such a heartbreaking twist at the end, and the song's melody is just ambiguous enough that you can't tell it's actually a sad song until the lyrics take that final twist! Reba's voice is full of emotion for the whole performance, but I legitimately spent the whole first part of this song thinking, "Yasss, now they might get back together!" So I felt like this was being tanked by everybody as the lists started rolling in, because I love it so much and wanted it to have a chance at the top 10 at the very least, but now that I look I see that nobody really tanked it at all... Lmao dub put it just outside his top half, and everybody else had it practically in their top 40! Unfortunately Reba's catalog is just strong enough that it wasn't sufficient to put this song ahead of many of its peers. someguy loses his #1 here, and two more top 5s are taken from BackwoodsBarbie and myself. {Songs Remaining} Consider Me Gone Does He Love You Fancy For My Broken Heart I’d Rather Ride Around With You Is There Life Out There The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia What Do You Say Whoever’s In New England You Lie

Wow. She started the Top 20 with all 5 singles from this album in tact and just like that 4/5 of them are gone. The best one is the last one standing though imo, and I hope that it can make the Top 10.

Fun fact about "And Still", my mom was a huge fan of the Guiding Light soap opera, and Reba's co-star in the video was on the show, as was his character's wife in the video. Anyway, my mom and her sister loved that guy (I forget his name), that they went to meet him at a mall autograph signing in the 80s! They also have photographic proof.
So, my mom has met someone who knows Reba, granted it was about a decade before the video, but still.

"Why Haven't I Heard From You" almost made my Top 10, it is so good. I love her attitude and sass in it.
"And Still" is a song I randomly get stuck in my head even if I haven't listened to it in a while. It is such a great song and I probably should have ranked it higher but I could probably say that about most songs (I probably have lol). That ending twist is like a punch to the stomach, completely unexpected.

Wow I thought the Read My Mind album would get at least 2 singles into the top 10!
I'm shocked "Why Haven't I Heard From You" didn't make the top 10. That's always been such a signature song for her imo.

"What Do You Say" was Reba's final hit of the '90s, and was also the big smash #1 off of the So Good Together album. It's interesting to me that this was one of her more recent #1s, because to me it feels like one of her more forgotten hits. Anyway, I never thought this was a super emotional song. I've always thought about this as 3 separate stories from 3 random people, just scratching the surface of their lives.
Then I watched the music video... Holy crap, I was not expecting that!!!! :'( The video turns it into the story of one family, and the parents trying to raise their family through all the hard questions and struggles of growing up...and then the mom suddenly dies of cancer at the end of the video :'( Spoiler alert! Don't watch it unless you have kleenex!
Cody Wants Out... loses a top 5 here, and @adam1995 is the only person who put this amazing song outside of their top 50. Seems like we all enjoy this one to some extent!

"What Do You Say" is a great song. I remember when it first came out it was everywhere and then she released the video and just WOW. It really was great and it was one of my Mom's favorite songs around then which is shocking because my Mom is not the biggest fan of Reba's (shocking I know, she has questionable taste lol)

If this isn't one of the most heartbreaking and shocking music video moments of all time, I don't know what to say to you. Watching the woman who was so strong throughout the video holding the family together for her kids suddenly crumble like that, was absolutely devastating the first time I saw this video in high school... Especially because my mom was in the middle of a 17-year cancer battle at the time. Now I just recently lost my mom back in February, so it really hits hard now...

I was so worried "What Do You Say" would get tanked so I'm very very happy to see it make it as far as it did!
I'm sure the video helps my love of this song but I have always had a soft spot for it.

This song is extremely powerful and emotional, as it talks about trying to move on after a heartbreaking loss. The melody to this chorus is iconic, imo. One of Reba's most gripping vocals. I figured this would make the top 10, so I am sad to see it miss. However, it IS the first song we have seen that does not have a single bottom-half ranking! That just goes to show you how stiff the competition up ahead is! Normally a song that performs this well would have been a lock for the top 5, let alone top 10! {Songs Remaining} Consider Me Gone Does He Love You Fancy I’d Rather Ride Around With You Is There Life Out There The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia Whoever’s In New England You Lie

I'm low-key glad my #1 went out early so all these ominous "someone's losing a #1" hints don't really affect me lol
I always feel like I should love "For My Broken Heart" more because of the back story surrounding it but it never gets past that final hurdle in my mind. I do love it though so it's really just the difference of like a 9.8/10 vs. a 9.9 or 10 lol

I have never understood why this one is better liked than that one. I still love this one, but it feels like one that should have barely made the top 20 while "How Was I To Know" should barely miss the top 10, based on the relative impact each had on her career.
That being said, this was a #2 hit for her, so it was still huge! I just like HWITK a little better :) The story that this song tells is a really fun one, and it made for a pretty fun music video. The melody and arrangement are just that as well: Fun! Everything about this song is just so lighthearted and carefree. I think it would be fun to hear a response song from the bride's perspective though Cody Wants Out... and someguy both lose top 5s here, and once again nobody loses a bottom 50! {Songs Remaining} Consider Me Gone Does He Love You Fancy Is There Life Out There The Fear Of Being Alone The Greatest Man I Never Knew The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter The Heart Won’t Lie The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia Whoever’s In New England You Lie

Alright y'all, only ONE song is not going to make the top 10! Which one will it be?
