According to Billboard’s site, here’s her Adult R&B peaks: Maybe #23 A Better Man #26 Trippin’ (That’s The Way Love Works) #19 Hands Tied #6 I don't understand how these songs didn't perform better. Poor promo/messy releases.

I don't understand how these songs didn't perform better. Poor promo/messy releases. I think she had poor promo for "Maybe" and "a better man" but she did a ton of promo for the singles on Libra and Pulse especially for a Urban AC artist. I think people automatically go to blaming promo when something flops, but she was always performing "hands tied' on TV and even did live televised performances of "trippin" as well. It's not as if even the biggest Urban AC hits are getting massive amounts of promo. That doesn't work like the pop charts.

Well "Hands Tied" is the highest peaking of the singles you listed, isn't it? ;)

"Hands Tied" was a decent-sized Urban AC hit. I think the reason for a lot of her underperformance in the 00's is because her labels were trying really hard to continue her success at Urban radio and not relegate her to Urban AC. She had plenty of tracks in from her albums that decade that could have been significant Urban AC hits.

I’m quite surprised by the peaks of I love me some him and he wasn’t man enough. HWME was a monster single. I was sure that was a #1 on the format.
Her label screwed her over during the Libra. She actually promoted that a lot. She did quite a few shows th summer leading up to release and did a ton of radio and magazine interviews. She debuted with 116k despite not having a hit on urban mainstream or pop.

Here are a few fun facts... According to Billboard, this is Toni's 8th #1 making her the 2nd artist, behind Alicia Keys with the most #1s on this chart. Apparently she was tied with Maxwell and R. Kelly up until this point... Also, "Another sad love song" was the very first #1 on this chart.

She's only 2 songs behind Alicia, maybe one day she'll catch up :)

Kelly, Crystal Lewis & The Family) "I Am" And #3-peaking: "Just Fine" "Don't Mind" "Seven Days" "I'm Goin' Down"

It's a travesty that "Just Fine" and "I'm Goin' Down" didn't hit #1. I would've believed you if you told me they were both the year-end #1s on the format.

"Just Fine" peaking at #3 has to be an error.

"Just Fine" peaking at #3 has to be an error. Ugh. I couldn't stand that song back then and felt it was overplayed. I'm shocked it didn't hit #1 too.

I’m shocked that “Be Happy” and “Everything” didn’t come close to #1!

Jokes aside, I need LAIL to keep reigning for at least two weeks or so before being taken over by Tamia so that Urban AC can stay being the perfect radio format!

It looks like she will hold the #1 spot for a second week! Yep! It's official. I wonder if Toni can get a 3rd (and 4th) week before Peabo Bryson, Stokley and Tamia move up?

Interesting fact: "Unbreak My Heart" was #1 on Radio & Records' Urban AC chart for 2 weeks but didn't match it on Billboard.
