Yay! Perfect ranking! Both of these songs are great, however.

We've killed off 4 songs from 12 Stories so far, but we're finally about to go back to Big Day in a Small Town for the next reveal. It has only lost one song so far. ETA: Oop I lied. There's actually a tie and that song wins the tie-breaker based on highest overall rank so it'll be the next song after one more from her debut album, lol.

Omg
Hate that I missed this but following! This helps because I’m not entirely familiar with a lot of Brandy’s earlier work but she’s fantastic

There was a tie-breaker between this one and our next reveal, but this one lost because the other song received a better highest rank. Thus, yet another song from 12 Stories is eliminated, our fourth one in a row. "The Day She Got Divorced" was broken up with here and takes with it five Top 10s, but also six bottom 5s, including my own #25. It's a song that paints a dreary picture about a woman dealing with, well, divorce, by just going through the motions and having little motivation to want to do anything. "Kids are yakking with their hungry mouths Dog scratching laying on the couch Think she really oughta clean this house, but what the hell 'Cause it's just as dirty as the day before Yeah, she's divorced"

After beating up on 12 Stories for a bit, we finally return to Brandy Clark's sophomore set to kill off its second song in this rankdown. The quirky kiss-off anthem about a woman who instead of losing her head and doing something rash, hopes that the man who broke her heart someday has a daughter as a form of long-game revenge plan. Thanks to a #2 rank from Troublemaker, this song won the tie-breaker to come in ahead of "The Day She Got Divorced." In addition to his rank, another four Top 10s are lost, while someguy finally loses his #25 here. A great number of doubled-up rankings happened for this song as well. "When you broke my heart, I wanted to Cut the breakline on your four-wheel drive And poison your Pabst Blue Ribbon"

I really liked the melody of TDSGD and the hook of Daughter but the vignettes she painted in both of these songs were great; two pretty clever tunes.

I LOVE The Day She Got Divorced. It sounds like a throwback, similar to “Ode to Billie Joe”. Always been attracted to that sound!
Daughter is a fun romp! Love hearing Kacey chime in there with Brandy too!

It was really hard for me to rank "The Day She Got Divorced", because I have known Reba's version for years, and I am definitely partial to that one. However, both artists perfectly captured the dark vibe of the song, and I agree that the unique melody combined with witty lyricism is a major selling point with this one. I probably overranked this one due to familiarity bias, but it definitely deserved to do better than it did!

"The Day She Got Divorced" is the one song of her's that I just don't really care for, and I didn't like it when Reba did it either. I actually think the melody is a big part of why I can't get into it (and why neither Brandy's nor Reba's version works for me), so it's ironic that so many of you think that's one of its assets, lol.

PERFECT ranking! I easily could've ranked this song higher as I absolutely love the line "Yeah, karma's a bitch, so I hope you have a daughter!"

Ohhh, Reba. That's where I knew "The Day She Got Divorced" from...
I'm also realizing that a lot of the softer songs which people might consider dull make up the top half of my list.

I really do like it, but I still can't get used to Brandy singing it instead of Reba.

What'll Keep Me Out of Heaven because it sounds less dull. 6) Which heaven song will place higher, "What'll Keep Me Out of Heaven" or "Since You've Gone to Heaven"? "Since You've Gone to Heaven" 6) Which heaven song will place higher, "What'll Keep Me Out of Heaven" or "Since You've Gone to Heaven"? WKMOOH Y'all were evenly split 2-2 on which would go first, but in the battle of Brandy Clark's two 'heaven'-titled tunes, the one from Big Day in a Small Town is the first to pass through the pearly gates and straight out of this rankdown. "Since You've Gone to Heaven" is an incredibly dark song about the spiraling of a family that happens following the protagonist's father's passing. castleoblivion26 suffers a big blow as he loses his #2 here, after just losing his first Top 5 with the last reveal. However, it's good news for DistrictTwelve and George Strait Junkie who finally see their #25 show up. "Since you've gone to Heaven, they shut the sawmill down Guys you worked for thirty years with have all moved out of town There's signs in every store front, seems like everything's for sale They say the market's bouncing back, but it's sure hard to tell Since you've gone to Heaven, the whole world's gone to Hell"

We return to 12 Stories to expunge "Crazy Women," a song first recorded and released as a single by LeAnn Rimes a few years before Brandy Clark (who wrote the song) recorded her own version. Personally I'm more partial to LeAnn's version because I think she brings to it a more appropriate vocal performance that really sells the song. Lyrically it's a fun song about the potential for any woman to become crazy when the right circumstances arise and are instigated by a man. born finally loses his last place ranking here, but a number of Top 10s are also lost, including another #2 rank, this time courtesy of recordyear. "Who’d-a guessed that Aquanette Could start a fire with a single cigarette She wasn’t drunk, she wasn’t stoned Just sick and tired of wonderin’ when he was coming home"

Probably our most divisive reveal yet, comes from "Take a Little Pill," a song about the availability of and reliane on medication to fix everything. It got a lot of fanfare as it received an impressive eight Top 10 ranks, which included three Top 5s among those... but it also got bogged down by a high number of Bottom 5s and low teen placements. There was little middle ground for this one. "Mama got depressed When Daddy was a-dying So the doctor gave her something To help her with her crying Then she couldn't sleep So he gave her something else Now there's yellow, red and pink On her bathroom shelf"

“Crazy Women” is the only song here I actually disliked (I think).
“Take A Little Pill” was really good. Too bad it’s out already.

Aw I wanted "Take a Little Pill" to do so much better. I think I got attached to that one because I just see that narrative play out so regularly in real life. It's a haunting track.

I'm kinda surprised "In Some Corner" is still in, I didn't think it'd make it far.
"Since You've Gone To Heaven" is one of her best you monsters! :(
