BonusNara - E.S. PosthumusI have not watched a single episode of Cold Case in my life, but the theme song is great. E.S. Posthumus are probably my favorite instrumental group, and Nara has long been one of my favorite tracks of theirs. I've spent many hours of my life studying while listening to Unearthed.

Bonus
The Grace - Neverending White Lights I mean, with City + Colour and Alexisonfire both having songs in this rankdown, I didn't want to overdose on Dallas Green over here (plus I want to say I've used this in a rock tournament previously)...but this is one of my favorite songs he sings in.

Okay I think I've got everybody's list in now, so I think I'll start doing reveals...tomorrow at 8:00 pm CST. I think I should be free then, I'll update if I'm not. I guess I can do some preliminary questions here too. - What do you think will go top 10? What about #1? - What do you think will be bottom 10? #50? - What do you think will have highest standard deviation? - Where did you rank your favorite first listen? And I'll do tags here in the form of the order I'll be using for list movements (order of submission): singingrulebritannia@humanshazam (Me) rgreen0625American IdiotSambaladaDaryl the BerylaerodynamiteDoc Indie Party RockTroyRedastorknightpeaceboneAz Paynter(and I'll post some extras too, probably 3 posts of 5 since I'm three days behind and don't want to make 15 posts in a row)

Bonus #6Blood Red Youth - California WivesSuper catchy and energetic yet kind of dreamy indie rock song with a great guitar riff. Really dug this song in mid high school, brings uhh semi-fond memories. Well, memories of some sort anyway.
Bonus #7Tsuki no Uta - GacktBeautiful piece of acoustic gothic rock, the vocal performance and strings give me chills. (and as another positive it's the end theme song of Texhnolyze, one of my favorite anime series, has some of the best visual storytelling I've ever seen and is just super dark and nihilistic and well written, 10/10 show but definitely not for everyone)
Bonus#8Cocaine Cowgirl - Matt Mays & El TorpedoAnd following that up with some good country rock.
Bonus#9Different - PendulumI'll include a Pendulum song in just about every list I ever make/submit, so I looked over them for this particular list of songs. But I guess maybe there's some rarity in me picking a song from In Silico rather than Immersion. This is Pendulum doing an impression of Muse almost (not in a bad way), really like the guitar performance here.
Bonus#10Savia - SoenLike the Ceterum song in the last set of bonuses, this is just a really solid prog metal song that was just outside the list. I think I even had it in the original iteration and removed it for some reason.

Claris and Family International will vie for #50. King 810, Manic Bloom, and The Receiving End of Sirens will likely be bottom 10 too. Maybe Amity Affliction
Songs with good chances at top 10 are Ben Folds Five, Minus the Bear, Mew, Cursive, Peter Murphy, Straylight Run. Hoping my #1 makes top 15 at least, but boy is it going to hurt whenever it leaves (unless it's in the top 5 I suppose)
Suicide will have a high SD, possibly tops
Highest first listen for me was #3, though I had definitely heard of the band before

Bonus #11Summer Girls - Hot Dad Did anyone ask for a synthwave cover of a forgotten cheesy pop rap hit from the early 2000s? I doubt it, but this might just be my favorite from Hot Dad, I just love what he does with this cover and how much the song builds. And like, never would I expect the chorus of Summer Girls to sound so damn good.
Bonus #12Runaway - Jamiroquai
You guys don't know how many hours of time I put into learning this bass line back in highschool @_@
Bonus #13Hiding Inside the Horrible Weather - My American HeartI mean I probably included enough mid-2000s emo/scene stuff on here already, and I get the feeling you guys wouldn't be too hot on this one anyway. I dig this song a lot though, another one of those old high school favorites.
Bonus #14China - Red RockersCool new wave song from the early 80s by a band time forgot (I think? This is the only song I've heard from them at least, I should check out more of their material).
Bonus #15Paper Doll Parts - Rob Crow's Gloomy PlaceAnd finally another song replaced at the last second because I already had a Pinback song in the list. This might be the second catchiest Rob Crow song out there (well, at least for me) though.

Alright about to start doing reveals here. I think I'm just going to reveal the first five tonight though since I'm dead tired and want to get in the swing of things a bit more before I start doing 10 at a time. #50 didn’t really stand much of a chance, staying in the bottom two positions for 10 of the 14 lists submitted. 6 people will be losing their #50 here and 2 their #49. However, along with all the low placements, there are also two people losing a top 5, so the standard deviation here is decently high, among the top ten highest here. singingrulebritannia @humanshazam rgreen0625 American Idiot Sambalada Daryl the Beryl aerodynamite Doc Indie Party Rock Troy Red astorknight peacebone Az Paynter

50
(will normally post a Youtube video here, but I can't find one that's not sped up or pitched or embarrassing, so Spotify link for this one)
Irony – Claris
Points: 180Standard Deviation: 17.056 (7th highest)
My thoughts on this song: Okay, I didn’t expect this one to do much, but this song is my jam. I’m really not a huge J-pop guy surprisingly, but Claris make some of the catchiest, funnest pop music out there for me. Along with this song, I love Click, Step, Nexus, and Border. Irony, however, gets stuck in my head the easiest and it’s just such a pleasant, catchy song, I love it to pieces (the fact that it’s the theme song for a s**tty show about a dude wanting to f**k his sister is irrelevant here okay, I just dig the song :p)

#49 is another one that didn’t stand much of a chance, not even escaping the bottom 6 the entire time. Not a single #50 surprisingly, but 7 bottom tens. No top 10s, though there are a couple of top 20s, and a pretty low standard deviation all around.

49.Cathy Don’t Go – Family InternationalPoints: 202 Standard Deviation: 11.120 (6th lowest)American Idiot : 14 Doc Indie Party Rock : 18 aerodynamite : 23 Sambalada : 30 singingrulebritannia : 36 peacebone : 41 Az Paynter : 37 @humanshazam : 42 Me: 42 astorknight : 43 Daryl the Beryl : 44 Troy : 46 Red : 48 rgreen0625 : 48 Movements: 45-47-50-47-47-48-48-47-49-49-49-49-49 My thoughts on this song: S.O.S. is a weird Japanese pro-Christian propaganda tape released in the...late 80s maybe? I’m not sure, but you can find the full thing here and the RedLetterMedia Wheel of the Worst discussion here (and here I'll shill for RedLetterMedia, their Wheel of the Worst series is my favorite thing ever, not exaggerating). If you have an off-kilter sense of humor like me it might be worth checking out. I was talking to a friend about this particular song recently and I basically said “you know I’m doing a game on a music forum, this song’s catchy and fun and weird, I’ll throw it in there as a meme and see what happens.”
And it performed as well as I expected it to, but I mean a song about barcodes literally being the mark of the beast has a special place in my heart and in this rankdown.

First two songs out are what I was expecting. "Irony" was the only song I just didn't care for, but J-Pop is very particular for me.
"Cathy Don't Go", meanwhile, probably would have done better for me in a lesser rankdown. This was not that rankdown.

#48 has not seen a position in the 30s the whole time, but like the previous song, had no #50 ranks either, just 5 bottom tens with three of those being #48. Two people will be losing a top 10 here, one of those a top 5.

My thoughts on this song: One of two uhh "dad rock" songs here (by which I mean, I actually discovered this band through my dad who said "hey come listen to this" randomly and I actually kind of dug it). What can I say, this brand of kind of corny throwback 80s arena rock is right up my alley.

This one’s been on quite the journey. 4th highest standard deviation, 4 top ten loses (including the first #1 loss of the game) and three #50s. This thing’s been all over the place movement wise, even reaching the top 10 at one point about midway through submissions, but it was on a downward spiral after that peak and ended up finishing in the bottom 5.

My thoughts on this song: You’re not going to hear me vouch for campy metalcore a whole hell of a lot, but I’ve always find Pittsburgh way above average in this brand of uh Hot Topic-core. I just love the chorus and vocal performance here. Was a huge fan of this song a few years ago at a big turning point in my college-going life, so I have a weird kind of nostalgia for this song I guess, along with being a big fan of the musicianship itself.

I didn't dislike "Nowhere to Hide" at all, but, I have to stress...tough rankdown.
"Pittsburgh" is, unsurprisingly, my first non-bottom ten loss. I usually boost metalcore, but this didn't do THAT much for me. Oh well.

And we’re finishing off the night with #46, a song with a significantly more unexceptional run, just barely scraping the top 40 a couple times. Three people lose a bottom ten with this song, but no top #50s or top 10s, just two top 15s.

My thoughts on this song: Well, I won’t call this a complete Muse ripoff, but, even if I do, I still think this is a pretty solid song in that style. Very good vocal and piano performances, and it’s pretty catchy as well. No particular anecdotes or memories attached to this one, but I’ll scroll through my saved music on Spotify and go “oh yeah, Dear Sherlock had that one cool song” and then I’ll listen to it and consistently feel impressed.

#50 - Irony (#50) - pppppppppppp, j-pop has never really been my thing, so this naturally ended up low on my list #49 - Cathy Don't Go (#42) - yeah, i was wondering the story behind this one lol. just kinda sounded like an average 80s song, but the lyrics were downright weird #48 - Nowhere to Hide (#34) - cheesy indeed, but i can't help but kinda dig it. nice guitar work #47 - Pittsburgh (#10) - now, metalcore usually isn't my thing, but the emotion is this song is just poignant. always enjoyed this, but i knew it would go out early #46 - Hell (#35) - sounded a lot like Muse, obviously, but it wasn't bad. nothing all too memorable, though

To be continued...whenever. I'm doing this pretty casually, so whenever I find the time (I don't know if I will be able to tomorrow night or not). Going to do a few bonuses here now. Bonus #16In the Morning and Amazing... - Circa SurviveBig fan of Circa Survive, definitely my favorite Anthony Green related project, and this is probably my favorite song of theirs. Bonus #17Mario Artist Paint Studio OST - The Ocean Floor (Track 2) No, this isn't some weird meme or something, I legitimately love this instrumental. It's really eerie and atmospheric and chilling, way too good a song to be from a Japanese only released Mario painting game.
Bonus #18Get on the Flaw - People in Planes People in Planes are a super underrated band from the mid to late 2000s. They had a couple of songs chart on alt, but never really go the success they deserved. Beyond the Horizon is a really solid, straightforward alt album with plenty of songs that should've been huge like Pretty Buildings, Vampire, Mayday, and of course this song.
Bonus #19Can't Lose - We Are ScientistsAnd similarly, We Are Scientists never had much of a chart presence either, despite releasing consistently catchy and high energy dance-punk and indie rock. This song was in the original list at some point and just missed the cut. Bonus #20Vengeance - Zack HemseyI'd say for most of my high school and early college life, this is the style of music that defined my taste...not sure if this song holds up for me quite as well as it did back in the day, which is why I didn't include it here, but...it's still kinda cool.
