It's an odd situation where Reputation, despite being the best-selling album last year and about to cross 2 million, which other than Adele only one other album released in the last 3 years has barely done, it still feels like an under-performer or even a flop. I guess compared to her other albums, all of which have sold anywhere from 4-7 million, it seems even more so, but definitely not in comparison to almost every other artist and in general. The question is, which standard do we use? Do we compare Taylor Swift to Taylor Swift or to all artists in general?

It's an odd situation where Reputation, despite being the best-selling album last year and about to cross 2 million, which other than Adele only one other album released in the last 3 years has barely done, it still feels like an under-performer or even a flop. I guess compared to her other albums, all of which have sold anywhere from 4-7 million, it seems even more so, but definitely not in comparison to almost every other artist and in general. The question is, which standard do we use? Do we compare Taylor Swift to Taylor Swift or to all artists in general? Very frontloaded album

The thing is, while Reputation’s winning the sales race, it’s falling behind Divide, DAMN, and 24k Magic in terms of SPS. 1989 had pretty much no competition whatsoever until 25 came out. I’m pretty sure Drake could easily beat Taylor with his next album as well (unless he has his own sort of Reputation era next).

^ good point. I was focusing too much on pure sales, and not considering SPS.

Metallica - 16,767,000 Legend - 12,315,000 Hybrid Theory - 10,609,000 Bob Seger GH - 9,744,000 Journey GH - 9,198,000 Tom Petty GH - 8,805,000 CCR GH - 6,964,000 Thriller - 6,888,000 Appetite for Destruction - 5,678,000
Rock acts have great catalog sales. More than that, most of those albums were released pre-Soundscan so those totals are crazy.

1M for Greatest Showman! Yay! And it will also sell 1M for the year as well. At least we have one million seller assured now. Maybe Drake's Scorpion will too?

Looks like Man Of The Woods wont even hot 500,000. I can't see him getting another hit with anything on there so it looks like he'll probably end the year around 425-450K.

I can't imagine anything else having a shot. Only if Adele drops a surprise album, or if there's some soundtrack coming we aren't thinking of.
