Can someone explain to me what that preference revealer list is all about? All it is, is the songs, in the same order, but without the numbers. Plus how does it help put my songs in order.
The way I do it is copy and paste the entire list of 100 songs and paste it on a create message box. Under the list of songs, I make three columns. Great songs:, Decent songs: crap songs: This will remind me what I thought of each song at the end of the whole process. then, I listen to each song, and stick them into a corresponding column. Placing some songs higher than others according to how much I like them. If they are first time listens; i'll add a little side note next to the song. EX: (Fierce guitar solo) (Great Music Video) (sounds like Nickelback, Poppunk, Rapmetal,etc..). If I have to stop,I send the message to myself. Each time I make progress to the list, I just copy and paste the new list and reply to myself. I do around 20 songs or so each night, so it usually takes about 4-5 replies to myself. The last day I should have 1-100 empty slots and all the songs in corresponding columns. After which I just put them in order, doing a quick preview of each one, one last time. A few days before the due date, I Create a whole new message and send it to the host and myself for reference. The last step is deleting the first message where I did all that work.
Sometimes I only do this with the songs I don't already know. For example; I knew "Animals" and "Lips Of An Angel"were going to be my #1 and #2 songs, the second I saw the last active list. The fun was compiling the rest of the list.

I guess my method of working on these list is similar to peacebone's. I make a list of star-rating categories from 1-5. Then, as I listen to each song, I put them each in the specific star-rating areas that I choose. I can then rank each song in the order of the others in that area. Once I'm done with all 100 songs, they're already ranked.
But yeah... what is this preference revealer thingy?

That all sounds really complicated. I just listen to the songs in order and judge them accordingly. I'll find a spot on my list where I can say Song A is better than Song B but not as good as Song C and put it there.

Apologies for being so late, but with another three lists, the time has come for another BALLOT UPDATE!
This Ballot Update stars an interesting cast - @carseatlegrest, Doc Indie Party Rock, and Sambalada. With a cast like this, some interesting stuff is bound to happen:
- We have a brand new #1 with Doc Indie Party Rock's list! The new #1 is currently 49 points ahead of #2. #2-4 are much closer - #2 is #17 points ahead of #3, while #3 is just 5 points ahead of #4...but it's not even close after that, as #4 is over 100 points ahead of #5.
- A song that I consider to be this rankdown's dark horse - and one of the former top 10 constants - fell out of the top 10 for the first time with Doc Indie Party Rock's list. It has since returned to the top 10 with Sambalada's list.
- The top 4 currently have at least 1500 points. Our top 40 have at least 1000 points, while the bottom 9 still have not reached 500 points.
- A previous #100 briefly returned to #100 with @carseatlegrest's list, before Doc Indie Party Rock reverted the #100 back to what it was before @carseatlegrest's list. #100 is currently 36 points behind #99, so I doubt it'll change at this point.
- Someone's list caused a song to shoot up by 9 spots, which is pretty big for this late in the submission process. As for some other movements, two songs have risen by 12 spots (and another dropped by 12 spots) since the last Ballot Update.
- As always, it's time to end with Pulse's Favorite Part of the Ballot Update...
Ties can currently be found at #22, #69, #72, #82, and #90.

i had to double-check my list to make sure i didn't under-rank Interpol...there are many great songs here - enough to fill the upper half, then a handful of "meh"...and then about 30 songs i didn't like at all

Since I'm hosting the rankdown, this time, I'll be posting my usual list of Mediabase-only top 50 extras with each song in a separate post (as we do with the regular extras during the rankdown - this is how I wanted to do it all along). There's a total of 28 Mediabase extras - 8 will be posted tonight, and I'll post 10 each over the next two days. With no further ado, let's begin with a song that would have been pretty high on my list (if not top 20, then close)... MEDIABASE EXTRA

Oh wow. All of those above except for "Nameless" would have probably done very well on my list. "The Mixed Tape" is an amazing song and "City of Blinding Lights" is probably my second or third favorite U2 song ever.

And to wrap up tonight's set, here's a song that many of you might be surprised to learn of its poor performance on Alt. I know I was, considering that it still gets a decent amount of Alt recurrent airplay today (and it was following an album with a top 10 Alt hit). MEDIABASE EXTRA

It's a shame AAR didn't get any alt love on 2005 with that album. Both Move Along and Dirty Little Secret should've at least gone top 40.
The Mixed Tape is also amazing.

Sending my list in now. I'd say this was my favorite rankdown that we've done so far. Only one song that I really didn't like. It's not Interpol :)
The way I ranked them out of 5-stars goes:
5 stars: 5 songs 4.5 stars: 14 songs 4 stars: 19 songs 3.5 stars: 25 songs 3 stars: 32 songs 2.5 stars: 2 songs 2 stars: 2 songs 1.5 stars: 1 song 1 star: 0 songs

As the deadline comes closer, more and more lists begin coming in. I've gotten another three, so it's time for another BALLOT UPDATE!
This Ballot Update stars dm2081, American Idiot (aka the other two South Floridians on here), and Albie!
- Our #1 has not changed, and it's now completely running away with the win - it's currently 108 points ahead of #2!
- #2-#4 are 30 points apart, but everything distances out after that, with #5 being 96 points behind #4. The rest of the top 10 is closer - #6 and #7 are tied, while #9 is just two points ahead of #10. Meanwhile, only 13 points separate #10 and #11...
- Points standings: 14 songs have at least 1500 points, and 50 have at least 1000. Meanwhile, the bottom 3 still haven't cracked 500 points.
- I take back something I said in the previous Ballot Update - I thought the former #100 wouldn't change by this point, but with American Idiot's list, we have a brand new song at the #100 spot. It's getting buried too - it's currently 35 points behind #99.
- The biggest rise for a single song since the last Ballot Update is a song that rose 12 spots, while the biggest drop is a song that fell by 11 spots.
- As always, it's time to end with Pulse's Favorite Part of the Ballot Update...
SOUND THE ALARM! Ties can be found at #6 (as mentioned above) and #34.
