Welcome to the A Girl Like Me rankdown!



This is the sixth of 8 rankdowns coming in the next months in which we’ll rank each and every Rihanna album to make the wait for the next one bearable.



I’ve used a randomizer to choose which album to do in which order.

Part VI: A Girl Like Me



'A Girl Like Me' was Rihanna's 2nd studio album and had a big task to fulfill: As Rihanna's sophomore it needed to set the tone for the rest of her career - will she remain a mini Pop girl or will she break out to be something bigger? Sadly, like Rihanna's first studio album, the album didn't expand into many different genres making many songs sound too similar to one another. However, the album spawned three US Top 10 hit singles including her first of FOURTEEN #1s putting Rihanna on the scene as a force to be reckoned with. It came out April 10, 2006 just a couple of months after her debut.

The album debuted and peaked at #5 easily besting the #10 peak for her debut. It managed to reach #49 on the Year End charts 2006.

This album shows how Rihanna experimented after her debut. She still wasn't sure what sound she was going for and you can definitely hear it on this album. I wouldn't consider it one of Rihanna's strongest works but it's definitely cute enough to give it a shot!

Unless the host says otherwise (which Normi hasn’t), that’s how most rankdowns work, so yes, rank them in order of how much you like them.

Yes, rank each song 1 through 14 (1 being your favorite).

A preference revealer could help (which is what I use most of the time), which can be found in the first post of the thread we were just in.

Welp I'm giving rankdowns another try, also I started this series and only did 5/8 albums so I might as well finally finish now!! 

Please send in your ranks for the album until November 22 (so three weeks from now) even if you did already when I first opened this. 

Let's see if I will flop again or actually come through this time but the mess that's been the FN Rankdown thread reminded me of times when I did it better lol

Sorry for being a lazy bish with this! A lot of things were happening in my life but now I should find time to count all the lists (even those from years ago lol)
If yall still want to send (or want to change your list), I'd be pleased if you do so.
Lists can be accepted until I start presenting which will take at least a couple of days from now.
Once again, I'm sorry for the huge huge delay. With her album coming closer and closer, my love for her has regrown and I feel like I should do this series justice and finish the last couple of albums!
