45. Suddenly Single Points: 606Writers: Terri Clark, Tom Shapiro & Chris Waters Release Date: July 1, 1996 Album: Terri ClarkThe final single from her debut album, it failed to match the peak of the first 3 and is easily one of her most forgotten singles. It peaked at #34 on the U.S. country charts while making it to #11 in Canada. I personally always felt like this was a mistake to release as a single. I think even for it's time it was too slow for radio, and they had other options on the album that could've worked better. Wow, I'm stunned "Suddenly Single" is this low. I love this one! Very underrated. The hook of someone being 'suddenly single' by slipping off their wedding band hits hard and the melody and vocals from Terri are great imo. Deserved way better here than being bottom 10.

44. Wrecking Ball Points: 604Writers: Victoria Banks, Terri Clark, & Tia Sillers Release Date: April 2, 2012 Album: Roots And WingsThe final single from 'Roots & Wings', it failed to match the peak of the first three singles when it peaked at #29 on the Canadian charts. It's co-written with fellow Canadian female country artist Victoria Banks. This one was always low on my list of her singles because I found the production to be messy and it's lyrically a little cliche. Still it's a catchy tune so I get why it was a single. Glad "I'm Movin' On" is FINALLY out... That song is just dreadful. Covers albums are a waste of an album era anyway, but this song being released as a single made the whole era even more of a waste, and probably put the final nail in her radio career in Canada. I think what holds it back the most for me is the lyrics. The use of "daddy" to refer to the male in a heterosexual relationship just feels extremely creepy to me. Of course, I'm not going to judge gay culture, or people who get enjoyment out of having a "daddy". Tbh, I really don't have a problem with that. But when applied to a straight couple, it just becomes weird. But what makes it extra cringe-worthy in this song is the fact that the male is referring to himself as her "daddy", while simultaneously telling her she is going to be sorry to lose him. "Someday, baby, when you've had your play, you're gonna want your daddy, but your daddy will say, 'keep movin' on.'" Tell me that's not just the epitome of being an egotistical sexist pig... Saying shit like, "you're gonna be sorry you left me" is just a huge red flag, and is almost always the type of language you hear in an emotionally abusive relationship. But throwing in the "daddy" rhetoric just makes it feel extra condescending. Plus the fact he refers to her as a "trifling woman", to insinuate that he doesn't have room for her in his life... Goodbye, asshole.

43. Just The Same Points: 604Writers: Terri Clark, Tom Shapiro, & Chris Waters Release Date: 1997 Album: Just The SameThe third single and title track from her second album, "Just The Same" was her lowest charting single in the U.S. at peaking at #49. It was much more successful in Canada peaking at #16. This one performed about as well as I could've hoped. I always found it one of her more forgettable singles that got outshined by her other early singles. 42. Unsung Hero Points: 591Writers: Tina Arena, Dean McTaggart, & David Tyson Release Date: 1999 Album: How I FeelThe final single from ' How I Feel' it failed to make much headway on the charts peaking below the top 40 in the U.S.. It was able to climb into the top 15 in her native Canada. I'm a little shocked this was able to make it out of the bottom 10 to be honest. I’ve always quite enjoyed “Unsung Hero” but I do almost always forget that it was a single because it’s always felt like a strong album cut. I agree with Kanenrá:ke that the album How I Feel had some more radio friendly songs including the Kim Richey-penned “I’m Alright” and “Til I Get There”. It’s possible “I’m Alright” was considered as a single prior to Jo Dee Messina having success with a song of the same title that same year.

"Unsung Hero" is SO good!!!!!! But I too always forget that it was a single... It just doesn't really sound like a single. The song is so unlike her stylistically. It feels like the type of uptempo love jam you would have gotten from some gospel singer back in the '80s (I mean, it even features a very predominant background choir!), and yet here it is showing up in the late '90s being sung by Country music's most predominantly honky-tonk female vocalist. But she absolutely kills it! She owns this song! It is so totally her, despite not sounding like any of her other stuff. So it doesn't really sound like a single, but it has always been a song I deeply love. Kanenrá:ke I think you should do another reveal so I can stop rambling about this song.

Also, please let the "Happy People" reference be for "Smile"... Since that's generally what people do when they are happy... (But not what they do when they listen to either of those songs....)

“Smile” is one of those songs where I love the premise, especially dealing with my mom’s cancer fight for the majority of my life, but the execution just falls SO flat... The production and melody are so boring and lifeless, and Terri’s vocal does not even attempt to elevate the song. The song is so unmatched to her vocal style that it is almost painful to listen to unless I’m in a very accepting mood. I always wish I liked it more, because it obviously means so much to Terri 😕 But a #1 rank????!!!
That snippet of Alan’s “Good Time” video can only mean one thing! “We’re Here For A Good Time” is so overhated 😢

Overstayed. I've never been able to get into this one at all. Like bboat11, I appreciate the sentiment here and have nothing against it in that regard, but the song does absolutely nothing for me melodically or vocally and I find it boring.

40. We're Here For A Good Time Points: 575Writers: Ra McGuire & Brian Smith Release Date: July 18, 2011 Album: Roots And WingsThe second single from Terri's 8th album was this cover of Trooper's "Were Here For A Good Time"! The song climbed into the Canadian Country top 10 and peaked at #98 on the Canadian Hot 100. It remains her last solo top 10 in Canada. Here's a single I do love, but it's ranked low because it doesn't bring anything new to her catalogue. Still a solid song and I do understand the love it receives from some of the fan base! "We're Here For A Good Time" didn't have to add anything new to her catalog to be good. It's so damn catchy!!!! It reminds me of her early years more than anything else she's put out in the 2010s, and that alone is enough to make it a bop. I love this one so much.
As for the hint, I'm not sure about this one... I'll have to do more thinking about it.

"Catch 22" is a good song, but definitely should not have done much better than this in a list this strong. Personally, it has always been one of my least favorites on her debut album, but that is literally not saying anything since her entire debut album is A+ from front to back. If we ever rank that album, it would be so impossible for me to rank!

For every ten we lose we only hear of one that's saved Sometimes I wanna hide away the rain For a slow news day
38. Slow News Day Points: 571Writers: Terri Clark Release Date: 2006 Album: Life Goes OnThe third and final single from ' Life Goes On' this was released only to Canadian country radio and actually was the biggest hit from the album in Canada peaking at #12. While this didn't flop as a single for her I still think there was so many great choices for singles from this album. "Slow News Day" is an incredible song, that tbh I am not in the mood to listen to as much as the quality of the song should warrant... It is super difficult for me to rank this song among the rest of her catalog, because she is just SO consistent, and this song is just a little bit different... This feels like a good time for it to leave.

You'll be workin' on that El Camino Bustin' knuckles with a monkey wrench I'll come sneakin' up and whisper real low What you really need's a 3/16
37. Dirty Girl Points: 561Writers: Rivers Rutherford & Tom Shapiro Release Date: April 2, 2007 Album: My Next LifeReleased in July 2007 as the first single from her unreleased album, My Next Life. It reached #30 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in the United States and #13 on the Canadian Country chart. The song was written by Tom Shapiro and Rivers Rutherford and intended to be performed by a man. Clark reworked the song to be performed from a female perspective. While I fully understand this song being a bit on the hated side I loved it while it was out. It fit with what radio was playing while still keeping Terri's style imo. I'm sad the album never got released, though I've been lucky to find a copy! I like "Slow News Day", wish it had made it higher!
I also like "Dirty Girl" and do not understand why that album wasn't released. Wish I could get a copy of it!
