Didn't H-Town's "Knockin' Da Boots" have a ridiculously long run at #3 back in '93? I thought it was 8 or 9 weeks but maybe it was only 7. I remember hearing that it broke Stevie Nicks & Tom Petty's "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" record (6 weeks) for longest running number three hit. I was almost about to bring up "Knockin' Da Boots" to Gary too before I checked and realized it only spent 7 weeks at #3. That sounds right. Like I said, I knew it was more than 6 weeks but couldn't remember how long it was there.

8 weeks was a random cutoff, could have easily done 7 -- I can put out these lists fairly quickly and it is not very clean ---(didn't sort for peaks or consecutive weeks or anything of that nature)
The sole record holder for peaking at #3 is "Another Night"

Oh wow! DIdn't "Knockin Da Boots" peak at #1? That song was EVERY WHERE back then. 1993 is sort of interesting because there were a lot of long-running #1s considering the time period (a lot of the chart run of "I Will Always Love You," 3 songs with 8 week runs at #1 - "That's the Way Love Goes," "Can't Help Falling in Love," and "Dreamlover," and "Informer" with 7 weeks at #1). "Knockin' Da Boots" finished at #14 on the year-end Hot 100. "Whoomp! There It Is!" had huge sales and finished #2 year-end, yet never got to #1 as it was competing with the trifecta of "That's the Way Love Goes," "Can't Help Falling in Love," and "Dreamlover" (and beat them all out on the year-end chart). I'm surprised Boyz II Men's "In the Still of the Nite" was so high on the year-end chart. Did it have a long chart run?

I always found 1991, 1993, and 1995 the golden years of R&B. It wasn't until I came across Apple Music's playlist for those years that I realized it. Off topic, but I wish Spotify had R&B playlists by years.

Another great #1 from 1993 was SWV's "Weak," though. Silk's "Freak Me" was another #1 in 1993. Jade's "Don't Walk Away" which we've discussed was also from that year. So was Jodeci's terrific cover of "Lately."

I don't care for her song but I'm lowkey wishing Bebe gets that #1 because at least the song sounds original and creative.

This is ironic; today I was looking and noticed Nelly's "My Place" spent 7 consecutive weeks at #4 in 2004.
Another funfact: Toni Braxton's "Hit the Freeway" also spent 7 consecutive weeks at #86. The lowest position any song has spent 7 weeks at to my knowledge.

It is #1 on iTunes. And people thought a #1 debut wasn't possible. His visibility has been growing. It most likely won't, I was too hype lol but he does/did have a chance, yes. If they had a video out and performances this week and a radio deal but I'm not sure what he has or is doing. Either way, It will be a giant spring hit

The Middle
Sales: -25% (according to Kworb's sales predictions) On-demand streams: -12% (according to HDD's Streaming Songs Chart) YouTube: -6% (after three days of this tracking week)
I wonder what happened with this song, five days ago it was a contender for a #2 peak.

Shawn Mendes is not the 70M streams type of artist. That is what the current #1 is getting.
#1 debut not likely
