A lot of folks don't remember but...Little Big Town signed a deal with Mercury back in the late 90s, but they never even got a single released with the label.

They sang guest vocals on a Collin Raye song and I believe that album credited them as being courtesy of Mercury. They also had a dud album on Monument a few years before Boondocks came out. Most people forget that too. You could tell they hadn't quite found their style yet, but "Don't Waste My Time" was still a good song.

I have that album. They also released "Boondocks" on Monument right before they left the label and took it with them to Equity. I happen to have a promo single of it from Monument.

You can probably add Jake Owen to the list. Jack & Diane is gonna be huge for him.

If you go way back, Cowboy Copas had an eight year gap between "'Tis Sweet to Be Remembered" (King Records), and "Alabam" (Starday Records). "Alabam" spent 12 weeks at #1.

Jimmy Wayne had a string of hits off his debut album in 2003-2004 and then got dropped when DreamWorks shuttered, then had a few years where he didn't do much of anything, and then he came back with his first (and only) #1 hit with Valory in 2008.

With a top 50 single before that off Big Machine, in late 2006 ("That's All I'll Ever Need"). He signed with Borchetta at Big Machine after DreamWorks folded and after that song failed to take off, he took 2007 off from radio before coming back in April of 2008 with "Do You Believe Me Now?"

MCA dropped Tanya Tucker in 1981 after declining record sales. She put out one moderately successful album with Arista in 82 (years before they moved to Nashville). And then went onto have a huge comeback in 1986 when she was signed to Capitol Nashville.

Tanya Tucker last hit was in early 90s, and she came back earlier this year with Bring My Flowers Now in the hot 50.
Brian McComas last hit was in 2004 and he is back this year with the group The Desert City Ramblers.
Sammy Kershaw, Tracy Lawrence, Travis Tritt, John Barry to name a few with songs charting this year.
Texas charts this year alone have some of the acts that were on major labels who have hits on there.
Blly Joe Shaver, Whiskey Myers, Reckless Kelly, Tanya Tucker, Kein Fowler, Mickey Gilley (last hit of his was in the 1980s), Tracy Byrd to name a few. Whiskey Myers scored a number 1 hit last week with Bury My Bones.
