Hint for #9A nice balance of drama and sunshine. The first of the 6 songs that cycled through #1 - it was an early leader that got pushed down as more people's lists were added to the mix. It also beat out HH by 22 points. Whitney SpotlightThere is one left from each album except her debut, so we are doing them in reverse order. This one is a favorite of those who submitted lists for extras. "Tell Me No"

This song never fails to rev me up when Im down. It should've been the lead single from "Just Whitney".

I can't believe I ranked "All the Man" that low! Between this thread and going to see the Whitney movie the other day I'm delving into her catalogue a little bit again. I mean, I am old enough to remember her success in real time, lol, but still. In particular I have been revisiting I'm Your Baby Tonight, because I feel like it's one of her more underrated albums. It "only" went 3x platinum and had 2 #1s.

No hint for #8, just a spotlight with a dance remix. "You'll Never Stand Alone" was in contention to be the 6th single from My Love Is Your Love but was cancelled due to The Greatest Hits promotion. LIVE @ The Sports Illustrated Awards The amazing 2005 Club Remix!!!!!!!

20. Run To You (16): I've always liked this song --the melody and Whitney's voice sounds amazing. It was just very hard for me to rank 12-16. I was quite disappointed at its underperforming in the Hot 100 back in the day...
19. My Name's Not Susan (40): Well, I never cared about this back in the day... I've grown to like it more with time, so it escaped my bottom 10, but this is just the type of song that I don't like much for WH.
18. Where Do Broken Hearts Go? (15): On the contrary, this was my second favorite 1980s ballad from her. I think she sounds great (no over-singing) and the melody is right up my alley. Good to see it making it into the top 20.
17. You Give Good Love (38): This has always been just boring and forgettable to me... sorry
16. Didn't We Almost Have It All? (26): I like the verses and overall melody, but I can't stand her yelling in the chorus.
15. Queen of the Night (31): This had all the potential to be a rocker like Black Cat or Dirty Diana, but to me it was just a shy, ineffective attempt at it. It could'd been much better...
14. Greatest Love of All (6): My favorite 1980s ballad from Whitney. A personal top 3 and a song that although initially was barely a top 20 in national radio, ended up gaining more popularity years later, and becoming much more of a favorite song for me as well.
13. Exhale (19): A surprising personal top 3... initially I thought it was s bit too simple with an underwhelming chorus --but soon I got hooked with the simplicity, her sexy voice, and the stronger bridge.
12. My Love is Your Love (20): This was another personal top 3. I did like the reggae laidback vibe, but now that I listened to it again, it felt a bit shorter than my initial expectations.
11. I'm Every Woman (8): Oh, really??! This was a runner-up in my personal chart, with good longevity. I believe this is one of her best covers, and C+C's production is ACE. Should've reached top 10 in this RD!

Oh also, #8 is our last song with zero #1 ranks. Think on that for a minute while I attend back-to-back meetings at work.

The Top 7 is TIGHT y'all and I mean literally. #2 finished 1 point behind #1 and #2 also never hit #1 despite 6 other songs doing so. Here are the small differences in points to illustrate that: 1 & 2 - 1 point 2 & 3 - 18 points 3 & 4 - 1 point 4 & 5 - 29 points 5 & 6 - 12 points 6 & 7 - 5 points For a total of 66 point spread between 1 & 7 For comparison, there are 77 points between #7 and "Saving All My Love For You" Whitney Spotlight"Joy To The World" - such an amazing rendition from The Preacher's Wife and One Wish.

I'm happy to be a garbage pail kid hunty because I can't stand the original version of this song. Now, if I were ranking the 1986 AMA performance of it, or the Junior Vasquez remix it would've fared better. Oh well. LOL.

For future reference, you can rank any version you like when doing my rankdowns. I offered some for this one e.g. Million Dollar Bill, INRBIO, but I don't really care which version people rank. Personally, I ranked "Didn't We Almost Have It All" with the live version from its music video which is why I ranked it so high.

What?!? I thought this would be top 3, potentially #1. It was one of the 6 that held the #1 spot briefly, but the Garbage Pail Kids pulled it down as more lists came in.

Hint for #6One of the songs that did NOT hit #1, but is is the 3rd lowest standard deviation. Whitney SpotlightHere's my favorite version of this cover. This is the Take Me To Jesus version. "Jesus Loves Me"
