It's crazy to think that "Heat Waves" is in the top of the 52 weeks list when like 2-3 months ago it's behind both "Levitating" and "Save Your Tears"

Well, that's how these longevity charts work. As long as you are maintaining points you can stay on the charts for a long, long while, and that's what we're seeing with Heat Waves and likely to see for quite a bit with Stay as well.

It seems like a lock unless Frank Ocean or Rihanna drops an album before that point.

That seems an odd choice for artists to drop, but I agree that it's pretty likely that Heat Waves will pass 90 weeks given its current trajectory.

I’m surprised people aren’t talking about the more likely scenarios like Ariana possibly dropping a new album, Drake dropping a more rap centric project, or Taylor dropping 1989 (TV) which could all easily do damage.
Don’t understand why we’re leaning so much on Frank Ocean or Rihanna when we know that we haven’t heard anything from them and we’re probably not going to see them anytime soon.
On the hip hop side, long awaited highly anticipated projects like J Cole dropping The Fall Off, Travis dropping Utopia or Lil Uzi with The Pink Tape are way more likely to happen compared to those 2 ever coming back these days.

Apparently Ariana isn't dropping a new album until she's done with wicked which isn't coming out until late 2024. Also, I think Frank Ocean has confirmed a new album.

That’d be a five year hiatus for Ari - really think that would happen?

Do you all think that Running Up That Hill is more likely to stay for a long time because of its radio popularity? How fast do you think this one will drop? So far it has been pretty steady for a while, with streaming and sales losses balanced by radio gains.

Weird, but Bad Habits / Heat Waves / Stay are the first time that three songs are 52+ weeks on the chart without a woman. Charts have been a lot better for women lately than they were 5 years ago, but this is kind of interesting what stuck around (obviously Woman next week will stop this, as will Bad Habits falling off the following week)

^ Ironically, they're gonna be joined by a woman next week in Doja Cat's "Woman" (it will be recurrent both because of 25/52 rule and Beyoncé's album on 08-20)

The next song that appears pretty likely to hit 52 weeks will similarly likely only have one week there and will have both a man and a woman so interesting there as well.

Shorter list compared to previous weeks. The Beyoncé album bomb did some serious damage.

Yes, and lest one think that there are a lot of songs to add, there isn't a single song between 20 and 27 weeks, so it's not like we will be adding to this list in the near future either.

Well, kinda. Heat Waves and Stay still need to gtfo. Hopefully that happens before Heat Waves breaks Blinding Lights’ record.

I'm not sure how likely that is to happen. As It Was is pretty likely to be the next song on this list, and there will likely be some wailing and gnashing of teeth if/when that happens. In general, though, I'm curious to see how much attrition there is from this list over the next few weeks between songs that drop off and others that hit 52 weeks and then get yeeted through superrecurrency.

I'm pretty sure that there would be some sort of superduperrecurrency if something gets to 104 weeks, but I am curious to see which song is the first one to get that.

Yeah, it's only a matter of time before something like that has to happen given trends on streaming and radio.
