34. Clint Black - When My Ship Comes InBillboard Hot Country Songs Peak: 1 Billboard Hot Country Songs of 1993: 41 Total Points: 699 Average Rank: 46.6 Standard Deviation: 29.14446774 Cody Wants Out... - 1 LBTrocks - 9 tim - 11 austin - 29 George Strait Junkie - 33 rgreen0625 - 33 bboat11 - 42 Glove Slap - 43 .indulgecountry - 53 someguy - 57 kw9461 - 57 CoJoFan - 67 castleoblivion26 - 69 sabre14 - 92 Kanenrá:ke - 103
Yup. I put a male as my #1. Shocker isn't it? I simple love every. little. thing. about this song. The message behind the lyrics, the chord progressions, the key changes, the melodies, etc... This has to be not only one of my favorite country songs from '93, but also from the ENTIRE. DECADE!I can understand a few middling ranks, but WHAT in the WORLD is UP with those glaring bottom 20s?!?!?! What's so bad about this one? Explain yourselves.

I love this song, but it just couldn't go any higher for me. Still a great song though. Easily one of Clint's best

It’s a great song. The top 40 or so of this are amazing songs though.

I'll post the song that misses the top 30 some time tomorrow morning. Make guesses at to what it'll be.
Preview: there are NO top ten rankings, but plenty of top 40s.

Turned my back on her love and now she's LONG GONE31. Brooks & Dunn - She Used to Be MineBillboard Hot Country Songs Peak: 1 Billboard Hot Country Songs of 1993: 69 Total Points: 686 Average Rank: 45.73333333 Standard Deviation: 24.13197839 bboat11 - 12 kw9461 - 14 .indulgecountry - 17 CoJoFan - 37 Cody Wants Out... - 38 castleoblivion26 - 39 George Strait Junkie - 40 tim - 40 Kanenrá:ke - 42 someguy - 45 Glove Slap - 53 austin - 56 sabre14 - 75 rgreen0625 - 80 LBTrocks - 98
Brooks & Dunn loses their sole #1 for 1993 with the next to last single from their sophomore album Hard Workin' Man, where the title track is still in for the time being. A whopping TEN of us put this in our top 50 and at several points throughout submissions, this was looking to be a top 20 contender until LBTrocks's bottom 15 pushed it far far away from it's reach. This was one of my favorite discoveries for not only this rankdown, but also from B&D's discography. A VERY underrated and sometimes unappreciated cut from them. Ranking their singles is gonna be super challenging!

One of B&D's best. Glad it made Top 40 at least!

Brooks & Dunn have dozens of songs that are "the best", and "She Used To Be Mine" is indeed one of them. I love this song so much! Such an interesting chorus melody and phrasing. I can't believe "Hard Workin' Man" outlasted this one, tbh, because it is vastly inferior to SUTBM...

Songs that I see leaving before the top 20:
"A Thousand Miles From Nowhere", "Even The Man In The Moon Is Crying", "Every Little Thing", "Hard Workin' Man", "Drive South"... And idk what else! Lorrie's probably in danger, because she always underperforms in rankdowns. "Life's A Dance" is a major classic, but is probably in danger just because of who sings it. Garth could easily lose one or both songs, even though imo both clearly deserve the top 20 in terms of their overall impact this year (plus they are two of his best songs)! I fully expect "Chattahoochee" to make the top 20, but I also expect it to leave anytime, if that makes any sense... Lol it is a song that is super hard to predict, because it's one of those songs that is so ubiquitous that everybody has strong opinions either way regarding its quality. Lastly, I hate to say it, but I could see George losing one or all of his songs before the top 20... I would be okay with "Easy Come, Easy Go" missing out, personally, but more realistically it will be "I Cross My Heart" :'(

I love how the fiddle is used to evoke emotion throughout the chorus and the break before the 2nd verse. It's just a really well constructed song, and one of B&D's most underrated songs.

John Michael Montgomery and Garth Brooks need to get to steppin' imo. I hope their songs aren't gonna stay in much longer. Brooks & Dunn have dozens of songs that are "the best", and "She Used To Be Mine" is indeed one of them. I love this song so much! Such an interesting chorus melody and phrasing. I can't believe "Hard Workin' Man" "Lost and Found" outlasted this one, tbh, because it is vastly inferior to SUTBM... Fixed.

I mean, they're both vastly inferior to "She Used To Be Mine", but at least "Lost And Found" doesn't sound like a terrible song that Flops would worship just because it's written in a minor key.

Oh that's right, I forgot to account for the Ronnie Dunn Effect on Flops' rankings... He probably has "Lost And Found" higher, just because it's sung by Ronnie's background vocalist!

Just remember I LIKE BLONDES29. Joe Diffie - Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox (If I Die)Billboard Hot Country Songs Peak: 3 Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Peak: 22 Billboard Hot Country Songs of 1993: 13 Total Points: 681 Average Rank: 45.4 Standard Deviation: 29.24477975 George Strait Junkie - 4 rgreen0625 - 6 sabre14 - 16 Cody Wants Out... - 26 castleoblivion26 - 26 bboat11 - 29 Kanenrá:ke - 34 .indulgecountry - 34 kw9461 - 53 austin - 58 LBTrocks - 64 CoJoFan - 66 tim - 83 someguy - 90 Glove Slap - 92
This one tends to get overplayed too, but I actually don't mind it. In fact, this song is a certified JAM imo. Gotta give Joe some mad respect points for this actually! Here, two top tens, including a top five from George Strait Junkie, leave us as well as several other top 40s, including one of my own. bboat11 also gets a perfect ranking for this one! Sad to see this leave already, especially since it was a top 20 contender at times.

"One More Last Chance" is definitely one of Vince Gill's best songs! It's funny, it's simple, it's short, and it's catchy. The fact that his has any sort of tempo whatsoever gives it an edge over 95% of his other output, tbh. I'm glad to see it make the top 30! I am a little surprised to see "Don't Let Our Love Start Slipping Away" beat this one, because at least in my life experiences, OMLC is way better known than DLOLSSA. I figured the familiarity might help OMLC beat it. "Prop Me Up Beside The Jukebox" is such a fun song! I love how the intro starts by faking you out with a ballad sound, where the song acts like it's going to be all serious and introspective, but then suddenly ramps up and you know the whole thing is just a tongue-in-cheek, whimsical country song about loving being in a bar Definitely a classic, and I am a little bummed to see it miss out on the top 20.

This next one at #27 did a whole lot better than I expected; only four of us placed it in our bottom half.
