HDD Streaming Songs Chart (on-demand) 1. Nice For What 49,863,924 streams If this week's chart is accurate (last week it was not), Nice For What is going to debut at #1. hitsdailydouble.com/streaming_songs

^^Awesome!! Really liking that song, not just cos it might dethrone "God's Plan". That sample is dope and fsr I love whenever he goes "But it's alright". Vid is also cool.
So, Billboard will probably be releasing an article soon about the tight race for #1.

Really really really hoping Nice For What can manage to debut at #1. It'll be close.
Also "Barbie Tingz" is the song getting all the promo and more of the hype so I'm betting that will be the hit.

How long has Cardi been in the top 10 consecutively? Hasn’t she been in it since BY entered?

I really hope God’s Plan finally gets dethroned. Nice For What is the first single I’ve liked from Drake since Hold On, We’re Going Home. The sample helps, but even Drake seems more alive than usual.

Both songs suck, she coulda put out something more fun. This whole aggressive thing she's got going, always throwing indirect barbs at whomever the hell she doesn't like right now (I can no longer keep up with the narrative) is getting tired. Can she please do a song that goes "I like these bitches these bitches is awesome these bitches is my sons I'ma take 'em to Disneyland"? Silly rap beefs just give her more checks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

94k sales + 15M airplay + 62M streams* = 56,200 points. *If HDD and YouTube numbers are similar to Nielsen/Billboard.

Starting to think that Nice For What will end up debuting at #1 next week. Wow, congrats Drake! Also, does anybody think NFW has the potential to be a summer song, top 5 at least?

If "Nice for What" still debuts at #2, is there a fair shot it might hit #1 the following week? Too soon to tell?

Granted the ACMs are this sunday but what impact will that have on MTB apart from, at best a 50% sales bump on the almost obsolete itunes

Even if NFW "only" debuts at 2, it'll probably be number one the week the album drops, which is probably relatively soon or when GP naturally drops off because MTB isn't gonna stop it.
Also if NFW debuts at 1, he'll be the first artist to have 2 songs from an album debut at number one

Also if NFW debuts at 1, he'll be the first artist to have 2 songs from an album debut at number one No, he's not. That's Mariah Carey, who had two songs (that being "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day") from her album Daydream debut at #1. What Drake would actually accomplish with "Nice for What" debuting at #1 will be that he'll be the first artist to have his #1-debuting song replace his other #1-debuting song, which Mariah Carey almost accomplished but did not happen because Whitney Houston debuted at #1 the week between "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day".

So there were 3 #1 debuting songs back-to-back-to-back at that time? Sweet.

God's Plan feels like such a non-event, same with Shape Of You last year and to some extent One Dance. These songs dominate radio, sales, and streaming but don't dominate the cultural landscape, that's why Despacito is such a special song, it felt like an event, everyone was talking about it last summer, everyone was singing it. Even Closer was an event, I was in school in Fall '16 and everyone was talking about it.
I love God's Plan, but I don't understand why it's been #1 for so long. There was a lot of buzz about it in it's first couple weeks, but it died off fast. Even Despacito, weeks after it's fall from #1, was still being talked about everywhere. It was inescapable.

Despacito was the first Spanish language hit in years. Closer was the first #1 hit by the guys who's careers were defined by the freaking Selfie song. Drake and Ed Sheeran are pretty much the music establishment. That's why their #1s don't feel like such huge events, because everybody expects them and there's nothing unusual about them, even if they didn't have that many (or any) #1s before.

It also could be that there's nothing particularly memorable about those songs, God's Plan has one memorable line, that's of course the mama line that spawned all the memes. But that's all, and the only memorable thing about Shape Of You is it's insane chart run. I don't hate either of these songs btw.

I would argue "God's Plan" does feel like an event, at least to some extent. Beyond the "she said do you love me" line, the music video was quite a big deal, not to mention the memes it generated.

This sounds like sacrilege now, but back in 1993, both "That's the Way Love Goes" and "Dreamlover" were considered by MANY to be sonic non-events. The irony is that both wound up spending 8 weeks at #1, their biggest hits to that date. Both had huge debuts, and enormous recurrent legacy. Dreamlover was the follow up to 5 number one singles, and TTWLG was the follow up to one of the biggest hit generating albums of all time;
But many PDs felt the songs were very 'safe' - and in Janet's case - while unlike anything she had recorded before - too 'breezy' for a comeback single. Ya never know.

If the "Fantasy" commercial single hadn't been deleted, I wonder if it would have held on for a 9th week at #1 and then "OSD" would have replaced it.
