Even beyond my ranking of the song, I was rooting for this one hard when it started climbing and moved into the top ten at the midway point of the rankdown. I didn't think it would stay there, and it didn't, but man, I did not think this would also get bombed out of the top half entirely. A bitter disappointment, to be sure, but not an entirely unexpected one. Even in a rankdown that gave them a better chance than normal to succeed, Avatar still found a way to be divisive.29Avatar - Bloody AngelPoints: 324 Standard Deviation: 17.599 (third-highest)RankingsRed: 2 wheatsquares33: 7 janinho: 8 rowellfarm490: 16 American Idiot: 17 @jamesflame: 18 @carseatlegrest: 19 @humanshazam: 20 singingrulebritannia: 41 Troy: 46 peacebone: 47 Lordef†ones: 48 aerodynamite: 50

Okay, well, that last reveal sucked. Let's see what the next reveal has in store...well, I can say this much: It's another high SD, this time the sixth-highest. Despite the amount of support this song received, it was never able to break into the top half of the rankdown. This song spent four rankings at the #41 spot, though it never dropped below that, and it would spend its last four rankings barely holding on in the top 30.
Six posters will lose a top ten ranking at #28, all top 15 rankings, and three of those rankings are top ten rankings. Once again, one poster is losing a high top five here. There are three bottom tens, on the other hand, with two of those rankings being quite low bottom fives. One of those rankings is yet another #50.

I DESPERATELY want the next FKA twigs album to come out. The 1-2-3 punch of "Two Weeks", "Hours", and "Pendulum" remains such a strong trio of songs back-to-back-to-back, and "Hours" stood out to me immediately with just how sexually driven it is. A perfect fit for this rankdown, but also one that I thought about including in other future rankdowns before going with this rankdown instead.28FKA twigs - HoursPoints: 335 Standard Deviation: 16.483 (sixth-highest)Rankingsaerodynamite: 2 wheatsquares33: 6 Troy: 10 singingrulebritannia: 11 peacebone: 14 Lordef†ones: 14 @carseatlegrest: 30 @jamesflame: 33 @humanshazam: 34 rowellfarm490: 34 Red: 41 American Idiot: 49 janinho: 50

Oh, hey, #27 isn't quite as divisive as the last two songs. Let's check to see if #26 follows the trend...nope. Oh well. #27 did start out as an early top ten candidate, hovering in and around the top ten throughout the early stages of the rankdown. The problem is that the support for the song didn't last, becoming gradually more middling as the rankdown progressed. This isn't quite this song's low point, but it's not far off.
Eight posters will lose a top half ranking at #27, but even with all of those high rankings, only one is a top ten ranking, and it's not a particularly high one. There is also only one bottom ten ranking, and it's not a bottom five...though it's not that far away from being one.

I thought this song would be, at worst, top 20. I am quite surprised (and not particularly happy) to be wrong. We're going to see a lot more of Mike Patton in the future Crazy RDs, though...and we may see another song from this very album, one that's just slightly more infamous than this one.27Faith No More - SuperheroPoints: 337 Standard Deviation: 10.468Rankings@humanshazam: 9 singingrulebritannia: 14 Troy: 15 @jamesflame: 19 Red: 20 janinho: 20 @carseatlegrest: 24 aerodynamite: 25 American Idiot: 30 Lordef†ones: 32 wheatsquares33: 34 rowellfarm490: 39 peacebone: 45

Okay, #26 has the tenth-highest standard deviation. Not the biggest SD, to be sure, but the stats on this one...oh boy. This was an early contender...not just for the top ten, but for the top five. It was tanked hard quickly after that, and though it looked like it might make a resurgence late, it got brought back down to earth with another tank after that, sending it spiraling out of the top half.
Seven posters will lose a top half ranking here at #26, with five being top 20 rankings. There are three top ten rankings being lost at #26, and, incredibly, all three are top five rankings. We'll also see two bottom ten losses (with two near-bottom tens joining them), and one of those bottom tens is a low bottom five.

Okay, so, um...I fell in love with this song thanks to the NBA 2K15 soundtrack. I know, odd place to start really falling in love with a song, but I couldn't get enough of this song when it would pop up as background music in that game. It also didn't really sound like anything else in the game. It was its own beast, and a natural fit for a crazy rankdown.

The first song to reach the top half, #25, was...yet again...another early top ten contender, but that did not last long. It mostly hung out in the 16-25 range, spending the last five rankings in the 21-25 range. It's also, fittingly, the first song to have never left the top half.
Six posters will lose a top half twenty ranking with the reveal of #25, with three posters losing a top ten ranking. One poster will lose a top five ranking, just adding to their misery. Only one poster will lose a bottom ten ranking, on the other hand, but it's a bottom five.

They may be a multiple-time main Journey band, but my obsession with TV on the Radio started here, the opening track off of Return to Cookie Mountain. One of my favorite songs of 2006, both during that year and after that year, "I Was a Lover" continues to entrance me with every listen. TV on the Radio just tend to do opening tracks very, very well, and "I Was a Lover" is definitely no exception.25TV on the Radio - I Was a LoverPoints: 360 Standard Deviation: 13.098Rankings@humanshazam: 4 Red: 8 aerodynamite: 8 Troy: 12 wheatsquares33: 16 peacebone: 20 @jamesflame: 28 Lordef†ones: 28 @carseatlegrest: 31 singingrulebritannia: 32 rowellfarm490: 32 American Idiot: 36 janinho: 48

#24 is a big moment in this rankdown, and I'll explain why shortly. This song was never really able to break through, spending significant time in the top 30 and some time in the top half, but never quite able to break into the top 20. It almost did, spending a couple of rankings very close to the top 20, but it was not quite enough.
Seven posters will lose a top half ranking at #24 (one getting a glimpse of perfection), with all but one of those rankings being a top 20 ranking. Two posters will lose a top ten ranking here, but they're both top fives, and one of those rankings is our very first #1 loss. Two posters will also lose bottom ten rankings, but they are both bottom fives.

Speaking of NBA 2K soundtracks...I was not introduced to this song via NBA 2K, but I did finally start to understand the appeal of this song while listening to this song as I was playing NBA 2K13. Video games have played a significant role in my growth as a music fan, and "Stillness is the Move" is yet another instance of video games influencing my taste in music.
My condolences, peacebone. #23 is going to bring with it a song that is even more divisive than "Stillness is the Move", our eighth-highest standard deviation. This song was a top ten--er, five contender early, only to be in the bottom 20 just three rankings later. After that point, it settled into the 21-30 range, steadily climbing to its final destination. Had one or two more rankings made their way in, maybe this would have returned to the top 20...
Seven posters will lose top half rankings at #23, all but one being top fifteen rankings. Four posters will all lose top ten rankings, with one poster losing a top five ranking. The other top ten rankings are not low rankings. But speaking of low rankings, two posters ranked this song in their bottom ten (with one nearly joining them), with one poster losing a low bottom five. What really caused this song to have a high SD were the five posters who ranked this song in their bottom 15.

#22 finally gives us a break from the high standard deviations, as we reveal the fifth-lowest standard deviation here. Here's a stat for you: This song spent all but ONE of the last nine rankings in one of three positions: #20, #21, or #22. Despite that, it would only spend two rankings at the #20 spot, mostly spending its time juuuust outside of the top 20.
Eight posters will lose a top half ranking (with one poster getting that perfection taste), and five posters will lose a top 20 ranking...but only one poster will lose a top ten ranking, and it's not a particularly high one. It is, however, a top ten loss for someone that has not lost a top ten up until this point. For the first time all rankdown, we will encounter a song that does not have a single bottom ten ranking, though one ranking comes close.

Honestly, this is another choice where I wish I had went with another song by this artist...though not because I don't like this song. On the contrary, I love "I Want to Disappear". But given the possible Manson options, I feel like I went with too safe of on option here. Hell, I picked a MUCH more deserving Crazy song for Manson in a future Crazy RD.
(Of course the person with the Manson user name is the one that gets the perfecto.)22Marilyn Manson - I Want to DisappearPoints: 362 Standard Deviation: 8.998 (fifth-lowest)Rankings@carseatlegrest: 8 aerodynamite: 14 peacebone: 16 Troy: 16 wheatsquares33: 18 @humanshazam: 21 singingrulebritannia: 22 @jamesflame: 24 American Idiot: 26 janinho: 31 Lordef†ones: 31 rowellfarm490: 35 Red: 39

Before we reach the top twenty, we do have to get rid of the #21 song. It was not a song that went down quietly. Only spending one ranking outside of the top 25 early on, this song actually spent the majority of its time in the top 20, including getting mighty close to the top ten late in the process. It was brought down by one poster, in particular, and it fell out of the top 20 with the final ranking...if only barely.
Seven posters will lose a top half ranking at #21, with five of those rankings being top 20 rankings. We'll also see three posters lose a top ten ranking, one poster going as far as to rank this song in their top five. We'll see just one poster lose a bottom ten, meanwhile, though one poster does get close to a bottom ten themselves. The bottom ten is also a bottom five, and it's a bottom five for someone that, outside of a hiccup or two, has had a decent reveal.
