This song right here is a song that inspires a lot of memories. I don't think it will surprise any of you to know that I was a big Slipknot fan when I was growing up, and this has always been one of my absolute favorites of theirs...and not all because of nostalgia reasons. This still kicks ass over 15 years later. I can't decide what I'm more saddened about: That it didn't make the top twenty, or that I was one away from a perfect ranking...21Slipknot - Left BehindPoints: 369 Standard Deviation: 12.560Rankingsaerodynamite: 4 American Idiot: 6 janinho: 9 rowellfarm490: 12 wheatsquares33: 20 Red: 22 singingrulebritannia: 24 peacebone: 26 Troy: 27 @humanshazam: 28 Lordef†ones: 30 @jamesflame: 40 @carseatlegrest: 46

Can't believe you people let my #1, #2, and #6 all leave before my absolutely abysmal #50. I knew my #50 would be pretty controversial, but if that song makes it to the top 10, I will throw something.

We're starting early today, because I want to make up for lost time. I wanted to get everything done with this rankdown by tonight, and I originally planned to do 15 reveals on Thursday and Friday, but things came up that prevented me from doing so. I'm free today, as far as I know, so we have time to take care of the top 20. The top ten will be posted later tonight, but as for right now...
Outside of a period where it spent four consecutive rankings in the mid-20's, #20 was almost always in the top 20. At one point, it looked like it might climb its way into the top ten, but poor enough rankings late sealed its fate, dropping it to the bottom of the top 20.
Six posters will lose a top half ranking with today's first reveal, all but five being top 15 rankings. Four posters will lose a top ten rankings, as well, but they are all top five rankings, and one is a pretty decently high top five for someone who has suffered early and often. No one loses a bottom ten ranking for just the second time all rankdown, and none of the rankings are really that close. There are a number of rankings in the 30's, however.

Somehow, this song wound up doing better AND worse than I expected. "Better", because I didn't have very high expectations for this song going in, but it exceeded those expectations in a hurry. "Worse", because this song was fighting for a top ten spot late, which, if it had made the last top ten, probably would have sent my heart soaring into the stratosphere. Instead, Rammstein settles for kicking off the top 20.20Rammstein - Keine LustPoints: 372 Standard Deviation: 13.562Rankingsjaninho: 3 Red: 5 aerodynamite: 5 Troy: 5 rowellfarm490: 15 singingrulebritannia: 25 peacebone: 30 @humanshazam: 31 American Idiot: 32 @carseatlegrest: 34 @jamesflame: 35 Lordef†ones: 35 wheatsquares33: 36

#19 is our first song to have been at #1 at any point. It was also early in the ranking process, while also being a top ten contender for a little longer than that. After that, it settled into the 11-20 range, surviving a moment where it looked like it might not make the top 20 at all by sneaking its way back into the top 20 with the last ranking.
Six posters will lose a top twenty ranking with the reveal of #19, with three posters losing a top ten ranking (with a fourth poster coming very close). One poster will lose back to back top tens, while another will lose a high top five ranking. Once again, there are no bottom ten losses, but a couple of posters get close this time.

Unlike Rammstein, this was a song that I DID have high hopes for before the rankdown started. At first, it looked like it would live up to those hopes and then some by reaching the top spot after the second ranking. It wasn't meant to be, however, and while there was support for this song, there just wasn't enough of it. Too bad no one ranked it bottom ten. I would have been able to make a good pun...19Motorhead - The HammerPoints: 373 Standard Deviation: 12.573Rankingssingingrulebritannia: 3 Red: 7 American Idiot: 7 peacebone: 11 @jamesflame: 17 Lordef†ones: 20 wheatsquares33: 27 rowellfarm490: 29 janinho: 30 Troy: 30 aerodynamite: 31 @humanshazam: 39 @carseatlegrest: 39

#18 was in the top ten closer to the middle of the rankdown, but it tended to stick around in the 11-25 range, mostly hovering closer to the latter half of the top 20. It looked like it MIGHT miss the top 20 entirely, but the last two rankings helped ensure this would not be the case.
All but four posters ranked this song in their top half, with six of those rankings being top 20 rankings. Three posters will lose a top ten ranking, with one losing a top five ranking. Two of those three posters will be losing another top ten after recently having lost one. Unlike the last two reveals, there is a bottom ten ranking for this song, though it's also not a particularly low bottom ten.

This is not one of those cases where I feel like I made the wrong choice for this band, but I do wish I liked this song a little more than I actually do. Don't get me wrong, I really like this song...but it's just not one of my absolute favorite Anthrax songs. #17 is the source of the fifth-highest standard deviation, and it's definitely not a surprising one. This was another song that hit the top spot, not long after "The Hammer" was #1, actually. This song was actually in the top ten more often than it was below it, spending all but five rankings inside the top ten...but it also spent four of the last five rankings outside of the top ten, eventually falling to its lowest point at the end of the ranking process.
Seven posters will lose a top fifteen ranking at #17, with all but one of those rankings being top ten rankings. Three of those rankings are top five rankings, and one is our first #1 loss (of many) this set. Two posters will also lose a bottom ten, both clearing their bottom ten.

I was kind of impressed with the amount of time this song spent in the top ten. This was not a song that I pegged to perform that strongly, but it was obvious that many of you shared my feelings on this great song. But you know who DIDN'T share those feelings? Troy and American Idiot, both of whom clear their bottom ten here.

#16 does not have a top ten high SD, which may surprise some of you. This song spent all but three rankings inside the top 15, with the other three appearances placing it squarely just outside of the top 15. This song tended to hover in and out of the top ten more often than not, though it spent the last three rankings bouncing into the top ten and out of the top fifteen.
Eight posters ranked this song in their top half, all but one ranking it in their top twenty, as well. Only two posters will lose a top ten ranking here, but they're not just top five rankings...they're both #1 rankings. Only one poster loses a bottom ten ranking, but it's a pretty low one.

You don't know how much it stung to see this drop out of the top ten for the last time. I even said in Discord that I (jokingly, admittedly) wanted to discard the last ranking, as it dropped this song out of the top ten for the last time. So yes, you can blame Lordef†ones for this song not making the top ten. At least he clears his bottom ten with this reveal...and his #50.

Think these last couple of reveals have been contentious? Wait until you get a load of #15. singingrulebritannia has been waiting to hear this phrase: "This song started off poorly", but it kept gradually rising...and rising...and rising...and it eventually found itself in the top ten, improbably. It would make one more appearance in the top ten, before crashing out of the top ten very late.
Eight posters will lose a top ten ranking with #15, all but one being a top twenty ranking. Six posters will lose a top ten ranking, with all but one being a top five ranking...and multiple posters losing a #1. Three posters will also lose a bottom ten ranking, but they are all bottom fives, and one will be clearing that poster's bottom ten. Say hello to the song with the highest standard deviation.

I expected this song to be divisive going into the rankdown, but it wound up being more divisive than even I expected. It has the highest standard deviation in the entire rankdown by a large amount. That's what happens when you see half of the rankdown either rank it #1 or rank it bottom five. deep breath My condolences, wheatsquares33, janinho, aerodynamite, and Troy.

Okay, let's get slightly less divisive with #14. After flirting with the top ten briefly early on, this song fell back closer to the bottom of the top half, even spending a ranking at #25 on the dot. It gradually started moving up the rankdown at the halfway point, though, eventually jumping back into the top 15 at the end of the ranking process.
All but three posters ranked this song in their top half, with eight posters ranking it in their top twenty. One posters will even get to experience some perfection. Only one poster ranked this song in their top ten, and it's not a particularly high top ten ranking...but multiple posters came close to placing it in their top tens, as well. Two posters will also lose a bottom ten here, neither bottom fives.
