A very important song in the grand scheme of things, especially in the 1970's, but one that I kind of respect more than I like.

Someone takes a top 10 hit at #44, but this is its only top 20, and only three other top half ranks came with it. Another song with five bottom 10 ranks; three are bottom 5, and one of those is the big 5-0. This song spent two movements in the top 15, but was instantly dropped to the 30s, and then the higher bottom 10 area which it almost never budged from afterwards.

Wow. Already high standard deviations are incoming. 7th highest at #43. Driving that is three top 10s and two top 20s. This was a common sight in bottom 10s though (seven ranks), and a good portion of those are bottom 5s (four) with one 50 in the mix. This song started off in the bottom 10 and saw an end-of-tunnel light on two spearate occasions-- floating to 38 near the middle and scraping back to 42 near the end.

I DEFINITELY wasn't expecting this to be this low, nor was I expecting to be joined by six other posters in the bottom ten. Geez.
An undeniable classic, and it was still in my bottom ten...

#42 has seen far better days. It took the longest of any bottom 10 resident to get here (with only one ballot left). We drop off two more top 15s and a bonus two top half ranks. Six bottom 10s counteracted that, despite only two being bottom 5.

Much of this rankdown was tough to rank, but this is the only song that has me openly questioning my ranking. Did I screw this up? I don't know, to be honest.

#41 was in the top 30 as late as 5 movements from the end and spent more time in the 30s than in the bottom 10. There are five top half ranks overall, and someone loses a top 5 here. But the song crumbles under three bottom 5s and four more bottom 10s.

I kind of figured this may not do well.
For the record, even though I'll probably never do it, this song would have made a hypothetical country rankdown that I would have hosted.

I managed to work in this RD the last day of submission. To be fully honest, I was hoping for some better discoveries... Most of my first-listens ended up in my bottom half, as I found them a bit boring or uninteresting. Some of the Woodstock/folk, bluesy stuff were not my cup of tea. I'm still glad I participated, don't get me wrong, as it was good to listen to unfamiliar songs of the 1970s. So far my second biggest loss is one of my biggest discoveries: Raspberries' Go All The Way. (30). Pretty cool rock song! And my biggest loss is a classic disco but sort of melodic downtempo that was a staple back home: Rock Your Baby (21). Super smooth

50. You Can Get It If You Really Want - Desmond DekkerThis will be one of those rankdowns were all different tastes come together. This did not sound like #50 material. 49. Go All the Way - RaspberriesPrime example of one hit wonders getting tanked because of first time listens. Who knew Eric Carmen was in this band? remember "Hungry Eyes". I knew I would be the highest ranker. 48. I Choose You - Willie HutchAnother first time listen I didn't find any flaws with. R&B with a touch of Gospel. 47. Melissa - The Allman Brothers BandSomehow this country style sounded better in the 70's. It was simnepl but most importantly, it wasn't trying to pass off for Country Pop. 46. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey - Paul & Linda McCartneyThis kind of Makes sense. When you have as many classics As Paul has, this one just ends up at the bottom. 45. Rock Your Baby - George McCraeThis rank was very surprising. This is one of those songs that has stood the test of time on Oldies radio format. 44. Hello It's Me - Todd RundgrenTodd has many classics. Aside from starting up The New Cars with Greg Hawks of The Cars, he had his own band Utopia. My favorite song of there's is "Hammer In My Heart. 43. Oh Girl - The Chi-LitesAnother Oldies format classic. For me, it's pleasant listen, but not much more. 42. Mediterráneo - Joan Manuel SerratFirst time listen. The musical composition in this song is incredible. 41. The Pill - Loretta LynnSurprised it got this high? her vocals are an aquired taste. rankdown closeness? There are three members below me. How The hell did that happen?

no idea how these reveals are gonna go, this will be very interesting to follow.
50. You Can Get It If You Really Want (#45) - this was alright, not too interesting except the instruments. 49. Go All The Way (#18) - damn this caught me off guard. I really liked this one, good guitar work. 48. I Choose You (#28) - woah I thought this would do so much better, was a nice soul song. 47. Melissa (#34) - nice guitar work, but there were more interesting songs on the list. rip shazam though. 46. Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey (#42) - wow I thought this would one of my last standing bottom 10s. this wasn't bad, it just never really picked up. 45. Rock Your Baby (#49) - didn't really enjoy this tbh. decent guitar work but idk something about this turned me off. 44. Hello It's Me (#32) - don't have much to say here. another one with some great instruments in the background. 43. Oh Girl (#50) - definitely not my thing. reminded me of some boring 90s r&b songs honestly. 42. Mediterráneo (#14) - this deserved so much better, I know it's not in English but this is beautiful. loved his voice and the guitar. 41. The Pill (#23) - had a feeling this would end up low because of its genre. very solid country song.

Want to see a sneak peek of #40-31? -Six top 10s and four top 5s are erased. -Two people join the "My 50 Isn't Still In" Club. -Nobody will clear their bottom 10 yet, but three people get agonizingly close. -There is not a single top 10 lowest or highest SD in this group. Bizarre.

#40 was in the bottom 10 for more than half the rankdown, and just barely crawled out. It snatches away a top 10, three top 20s, and two more top half-ers. However, six ranks are bottom 10s, and four of those are bottom 5.

#39 started in the top 30, slowly trailed off into almost-bottom 10, woke up a little, and almost plunged into the bottom 5 before being lifted to safety. This song has five top 20s and one more top 25 to offer. To its detriment, it felt the wrath of four bottom 10s and 3 bottom 5s.

One hell of a contest when I can drop a song just from a middle of the road 30 Rank Oh man, you don't know the half of it. The sights which are yet to be seen... Someone put #38 in their top 5. Otherwise, this reveal doesn't give us much to chew on. Aside from a top 15 and an additional top half rank, the vast majority of us put this song in their 26-40 range. None of the three bottom 10s are even bottom 5. This song saw stints in both the bottom 10 and top 25.
